An Archfiend is an actual Eastern military description (rank?). He is a fighter who uses extreme measures to accomplish his mission. The Archfiend in Age of the Warriors wielded an axe and was commanded to go on 'special missions". Archfiend is not a derogatory term. Oh, that's a surprise, Fire Arrow! Thanks for clarifying it. I thought Lee Ui Min was being vilified and being remembered in history as a criminal.

The scene where Geum Kang gets shot in the eye ball by an arrow than pulls arrow and eyeball out of socket and than eats the eyeball is probably the most over the top scene ever in a K Drama . I am betting no drama has a scene to match that .

That scene was just gross, it sickened me. Do any of you think he should of become the Emperor? Overstepping his 3 other brothers? And making the mother of his puffed up more. I think he should of declined and wait for the right succession.

Poor old Geum Kang he should have seen the writing on the wall and left town as the Vice Prime Minister advised . He had no chance of ever getting the Throne and sticking around was stupid . He should have gone to Shin Geum made a grand speech about rightful heir and keeping peace in Baekje as well as supporting Shin Geum than left town . I blame his mother for his death she should never have egged him on .

Okay, that was my impression too... she wanted too much for him and the father was no help, helped him when he was a child and did nothing for the other children, abused them and praised the bastard.

So first 130 odd episode's were great ,than you see the writers struggle to make it to Ep 200 ,some plot's are dragged on and on to the point of torture . By 150-197 it really hits the skids ,Choi Su Jong is barley in it ,most of the action is in Baekje and its just the same story lines played out over and over . The final 3 episodes though are among the best of the whole series .
One aggravating issue is some character's just vanish with no explanation ,WG's first wife moves to a temple to recover from illness and that's the last we ever see or hear of her . Kyun Hwon's Wife the Baekje Empress who was one of the two master minds of the coup than over threw her husband just vanished after 199 we never here what happened to her and she was such a big part of this drama .
I have already mentioned some of the production values but its 11 years old ,i really have no problem with that .
All in all its a pretty epic drama ,it does require a lot of patience towards the end but looking at it overall ,It was well worth seeing . Would i watch it again ? Only as far as 130 and maybe 197-200 . It is very good but far from the great legendary drama i had read it was . Oh cant beat that eyeball scene .
Now to see if AOW is all its cracked up to be .

Which one of the three brothers died in real life? Does anyone know? I heard one passed away in 2000!

So, Kyun Hwon's Wife never appeared in anymore episodes? Wang Guhn wife who was ill never made any appearance in the remaining episodes? Did Wang Guhn killed KHwon sons or exiled them? Whatever happen to Mdme. Kobe?

Don't know the first question . The actor who played Shin Guhm is still around ,ditto actor who plays Geum Kang so it has to be one of the remaining two. Kobe we never find out what happened to her either .
In real life i read that Shin Guhm was pardoned and given a post in Goryeo admin and his two younger brothers were killed in the battle . However the drama states that all 3 were exiled and murdered in secret ,shin Ghum's death is depicted though briefly .
We never learned what became of Wang's first wife .

So even one of the highly rated kdramas of all time has its share of flaws, eh? The disappearing character flaw; IYSS had a similar flaw, though they were mostly minor characters. It's probably aged over the years.
EWG is on my list of dramas I want to watch. How many stars out of (pick your number-4, 5, 10) would you rate it?
Another Kdrama historical I'd like to see is Tears of the Dragon. There are times when you were born sooner just so you could see some of these older dramas
Regarding Age of Warriors, members of this board love it to death, while it doesn't seem to be that big a hit in Korea.

At the completion I would give a rating.. thanks for the tidbits, I will miss this late night drama thou, it was my comfort food after returning home.
By the way don't you think Kobe and her son was way to greedy? They and the emperor created the mess, he should of taken his elder son under his wing and taught him like Wang Guhn, but no he thru hinm out ther to fend for himself them criticized him and praised the 4th son by helping him.
The son should of listened to the Prime Minister and turn down his father, but he wanted it for his mother look where he is now!

Wang Guhn has just ended, did not like the ending, he could of spared the children's lives he did the same thing to capture the throne, such hypocrite. That pompous Kyun Hwon should of stayed mainly in the background, never like this character, he sort of overshadowed WG. The children should of been spared.
My score 6

Now it is careful what you wish for in so much as i am not really struck by AOW maybe it suffers from having no central big larger than life characters like EWG did ,Still early days yet .
Actually the drama gave a free pass to Kyung Hwon and his sons omitting much of the rape and pillage they were famous for . Shin Geum was depicted with much sympathy as opposed to being the brutal man he was .
