Hey, Lifan, I like your explanation on the "Are You Happy? I am sad dialogue. You're a very smart girl.
Anyway, there's one more scene I couldnt forget and deserves an honourable mention
That was when Jan Geum was abducted by the Internal Security Guard under the Queen's order. I thought she was poisoned. Instead, she was brought to a chamber and loooooo, entered the Queen with a firm gaze and commanding voice ---You must expose the scandal!

Thanks, Hanbook for the compliment. I'm not so much smart as I am really obsessed and after listending to that dialog a couple of dozen times, it starts to make sense. Another scene I love, is when Geum-young left the courts. And she walked pass MJH (I know, I can't help it), he said 'I have nothing to say to you, but I'm really sorry'. She walked with her head bowed then turned back, and said 'If we should meet in another lifetime, please don't say sorry to me'. I felt so bad for her.

Hi all, If I am allowed to name 3 additional scenes which are memorable, they would be: 1. JG mother's last words to JG....which include; Your father will always be with you.....I will always be with you!" 2. During the final round of the cooking competition, Lady Han said, "This competition belongs to Jang Geum!" Ah! ;D 3. When Sir Min asked JG whether he could really buy her a present...they then exchanged presents. JG did that knowing that she will be put to death because she will not carry out the Queen's order to kill her son. I know, I know, I have broken my own rule...and you can exile me to Jeju island ;D ;D uk fan

I finally have my 3rd memorable scene! Took me all weekend to think about it! Whew! That's the scene when Jang Geum is taking care of Lady Jung, who was already out of the palace because she was dying. In that scene, Lady Han was already designated as the Highest Kitchen Lady [which the rest of the court ladies were protesting, under the leadership of Lady Choi]. If I remember correctly, she reminded Jang Geum to take care of Lady Han--to never let her give up, to be strong for Lady Han and to support her always. Jang Geum was the very first person to whom Lady Han had showed great affection for after a long time, owing to the death of her best friend, Myeong-ee [Jang Geum's mom]. This is sneaky, I know, but I also found equally touching and memorable the scene where Jang Geum was scattering the ashes of Lady Jung to the wind up in the mountains and Lady Jung's words about wanting to see the world after being cooped up in the palace for so long. I'd want the same thing, too.

I cannot believe that the scenes where the mother dies (being fed berries by the young JG) and when Lady Han passes away on JG's back wasn't mentioned. Those two scenes are the most memorable scenes I don't think I will ever forget. Especially when JG was trying to get Lady Han to tell her how to cook the prawns (even though JG already knew) to keep Lady Han talking.

I agree that the dying scenes were very memorable, but I would of course, rather they not have happened. I just thought of two more memorable scenes. The first is upon Lady Han and JG's return to the palace from the Peace dept. and Lady Jung and Lady Min's simultaneous return from quarantine. First Yeon-seng went running past Lady Han and JG towards Lady Jung shouting 'Mamanim! Mamanim!' And then Changee saw them and ran over, and they were all together, the tears in their eyes showing their relief that the 'dark days' of Lady Choi's reign were not over. And Lady Jung was still full of humour in spite of everything, asking the rest of them why they were so shocked - had they thought she would never return? I think that was one of the warmest scenes in the entire drama. What Lady Jung said to Lady Han before she permanently left the palace is something I will never forget either. About the palace being lonely, about having to empathise with the people, and about being strong and overcoming all odds. I think that was one of the warmest

lifan, thanks for the in-depth, thorough explanation of the "Are you happy? I am sad. dialogue. Me thought of it as a mere lover's talk. You did justice to the dialogue. That scene now is clearer and more meaningful to watch again. Makes me wanna sigh too. [maedayeve] you're so lucky to have 2 mums. you're life is filled with so much love...
