Ageism at its finest I guess I think it's also because there's more written record left about Hyeonjong than there is about Kang Gamchan. For example, we know nothing about what Kang Gamchan did during the 2nd Khitan invasion except for insisting to fight while others in the court wanted to surrender.

Let me guess. Park Jin is descended from Park Sulhee. Or it’s another Park clan close to the Wang family… I said it was a fictional character because someone named Park Jin doesn't exist in this time period, but I think the staff might have just changed either Park Jinseung or Park Seom's name for the same reason I mentioned in other thread. NVM, he may not be a fictional character after all. Official website character intro describes him as a local lord who hates Goryeo's imperial family with a passion. Based on this description, I think he's supposed to be the local lord who tried to capture Hyeonjong while he was fleeing south. This lord's name isn't recorded in history so I think they made up a name for him.

A local lord….either a survivor of Gwangjong’s purges or belonged to a faction that fought against Wang Geon during the Later Three Kingdoms period. We shall see.

Did Kocowa announce the LBW drama before it aired or did it upload on its first airing without saying anything? I don’t remember I don't think they put out a public notice of it, but then I don't think they've ever been much to give people advance notice of what's coming. But I haven't used the site enough to speak confidently about how they operate. They really should have an announcements thread for upcoming series. But either way they certainly know enough by now to answer a simple viewer question about Will you air it. It seems like Hyeonjong will be the main character after all. CSJ is too old to play a lead character now I guess. Here's another possibility: It costs more to tell a story about a battlefield warrior than a story about a king. Get your palace set fixed up and ready for a king story and you're all set. You can't tell a warrior story without lots of pricey location shots and lots of extras--trained extras if you're talking about military action--and extremely expensive battle scenes. So the choice may well be driven by budget.

This drama is apparently going to be streamed on Netflix Korea. It is unknown whether Netflix US or other countries will be picking this up on their Netflix. KBS officially announced that it'll also be available on Netflix Taiwan and Hong Kong as well. It is unknown whether it'll be picked up by Netflix in rest of the world yet.

Mokjong, Dowager Queen Heonae (or Cheonchu) and Kim Chiyang. My first thought seeing the dowager was too young but then I learned she was in her 30s by the time of Gang Jo’s coup.

Cheonchu's trying to kill Daeryang instead of literally anyone else, for that alone I'm thankful

I’m beginning to wonder if the series will start in medias res during the Khitan invasions then flashback to Cheonchu’s reign

Cheonchu's trying to kill Daeryang instead of literally anyone else, for that alone I'm thankful Yeah, everything looks better than Iron Empress already. Kim Chiyang looks more legitimate than the IE's long-hair guy. Empress Cheonchu looks more like the real Empress Cheonchu than Iron Empress. Chae Shira may be a better actress, but the character she was playing was not the real Cheonchu. Not a single man has long hair like they did in Empress Cheonchu and in almost every other pre-Joseon drama.

I guess that means all subbed episodes will be released 10 days after original broadcast?
