Boy, you gotta hand it to 'em--they've created such a big mess that it's going to take the whole 50 episodes left to clean it all up. Wow.
Way to lay down the law Grandma! Love it. But you could at last tell Seyeong you're sorry for all the mean stuff you said over the years.
Baker dad--him too, showing some serious spine. The next words out of his mouth are going to be huge, whatever they are. Not at all sure what he's going to say.
"I'll pay you back for all that." UGH! Mrs. Kim is such a narcissist. She's like something straight out of "The Larry Sanders Show." I keep thinking of that show more and more, watching some of these TV people acting all neurotic and self-absorbed.
Nice to see Jaeseong and Seyeong hanging tough for a change. And didn't it look like Grandpa Sundial was having an aneurysm for a minute there? Better cool it, old man, or you won't be around to see your son marry anybody at all.
Very funny, Donguk telling Gieun why he'll do the audition like she wants. "We grant wishes for the dead." Is that high flattery or what.
But seriously, how many times is Yerin going to show up and butt in or eavesdrop on an important moment. I know that's a staple of these shows, but it's gotten ridiculous.
What a slap from PSBmom! That has to be the slap of the series. Of course she should know by now that Yerin wants nothing to do with her...but I guess now it's finally sunk in.
It really is sad that Yerin is so afraid to be honest with her mom even the tiniest bit, even as she sees herself being slowly nudged out of her entire life. And now she's really gonna get it--that stupid phone call she didn't report, mom is going to freak. Jeongho telling her to accept whatever happens...how can she? For all the sleazy things she's done, this could turn very sad for her.

Baker dad!! Way to step up. Yes that was a crass and tasteless offer by Mrs. Kim. Handled it beautifully.
But grandma, she didn't mean to be offensive; she just didn't realize. She should have known better but she apologized. You, on the other hand, are a horrible, horrible person. You get sick at the thought of Seyeong leaving--until somebody waves some cash in your face? Good heavens.
Something was skipped over: Is Seyeong actually getting that MC spot? We weren't told that but it looks that way. Well no wonder the other candidates are steamed. She shouldn't have accepted it--if in fact she did. That's an important scene that we weren't shown. Blunder there.
"We have to have father's permission." Jaeseong's parents have flipped out again. And then giving him that guilt trip about how it's all about inheritance and legal issues. Baloney. They're afraid of Grandpa Sundial.
Donguk, just push her in the pond already. Sheesh.
"Oldest child syndrome"? What the heck?
This show has hit a wall again; lost its fun. The pall of tension and unhappiness hanging over everybody right now--too much of that in these daily dramas and I don't like it.

Darn it, now here they go with the bakery in financial trouble. NOT what this show needs. More of the pall of unhappiness. Bad bad bad. And come on, what's the reason for doubling the rent? Out of the blue like that, it makes no sense.
Seyong's crying, Minguk is on his knees apologizing for something he didn't know about, and even Ilyeong's lost her liveliness and is falling apart. This blows.
"Can't I be the only guy friend you have?" Jaeseong you may well get smacked just for that. Gonna be possessive like your dad is? Totally unacceptable.
Grandma, you are something else. That is NOT a compliment.
So they tell Grandpa Sundial Yerin's adopted. "What did you take me for?" You really want us to answer that? "You thought I wouldn't like you just because you're adopted?" Yes she thought that, because it's true! We reap what we sow, old man.
I hope this show rights itself very quickly because I don't like watching 35 nonstop minutes of the pall of unhappiness.

Holy...I had to go on YouTube and re-watch Yeonga's freakout--couldn't believe it. Not sure she's right, hoping for Seyeong to move in for hubby's sake...but it's about time she let Yerin have it. That was an A+ monster freakout right there. Who knew she had it in her. Don't mess with that one!
How did Seyeong know Jang Mihwa's real name? How does she know her as anything other than Grace the neighbor? Or was that just a subtitling error? I have to think it was an error because the implications otherwise are too big.
What piano fell on Seongsu's head? Or did the pod people come and switch him out? Too bad they didn't fix the wardrobe while they were at it. Whatever...we'll see if this sticks.
"Your grandfather's word is law." UGH.
Minguk wants to move out? Houses cost money, dude. You are such an idiot.
Grandpa Sundial still wants Yerin to marry Jaeseong? I thought her being adopted would be a deal-breaker, wouldn't it? Or did I just not understand correctly.
"How are you going to take care of it?" Yeah, good question, Seyeong, and he should have talked to you about it beforehand.
"It's not my fault I'm pretty." Well we have to blame somebody, sister. Now who do we blame for your being so annoying? Maybe there can be a horrible bakery accident and you'll end up a human strudel.
By the way, Mrs. Kim, your new show blows chunks.
And seriously, can't they just work out a deal where Seyeong comes to dinner twice a week? This is all getting stretched out beyond reason. Figure out a compromise and accept it like grown-ups. I know, what am I saying, they'd never put THAT in one of these shows, would they...sigh....

"Can't I be the only guy friend you have?" Jaeseong you may well get smacked just for that. Gonna be possessive like your dad is? Totally unacceptable. It was bound to come up. Koreans don't really buy into the idea that men and women can be just friends. If Jaeseong and Seyeong were to get married, she would be expected to distance herself from other men. Plus, jealousy is often used in K-dramas as a sign of someone's true feelings. A little jealousy can be flattering. Possessiveness isn't. How did Seyeong know Jang Mihwa's real name? How does she know her as anything other than Grace the neighbor? Or was that just a subtitling error? I have to think it was an error because the implications otherwise are too big. I didn't watch the episode but I'm guessing it was a subtitling error. I doubt Seyeong would have referred to an older person by name. My guess is she referred to her as "ajumma" (Ma'am) but the subbers used her name instead.

I went back and listened carefully to that sentence and didn't hear either "Jang Mihwa" or "ajumma." I'll bet she said "my neighbor" or some such thing. But either way, yeah I think you're right, it was just a subtitle mistake.
The jealousy thing, thanks for the comment on that; wasn't aware of it. Can't say I like it--but I'm not trying to judge anybody's culture so I won't belabor it. Actually my reaction was, The guy can't pick up two sacks of flour without wrenching his back; no wonder he's insecure about other guys. (Happened to him early in the series.) Think he can carry her over the threshold? Maybe she'll carry him!

Still stunned from Yeonga's wild freakout yesterday. It was like The Exorcist. Only you weren't expecting it so it was that much more shocking.
Seyeong, either way you're going to make people miserable. It isn't yes or no; it's which people. Totally unfair, I know, but that's the way it is. Just be thankful your dad is so great about this. And by the way, whatever you think the deal is with Yerin and your neighbor--butt out. Not your business at all.
"You're the only one who cares about me." Then YOU marry her, old man. Yerin would probably love that--she'd be the grandma and could crack the whip on everybody.
Her name isn't Yeonju! Stop it already! Enough!
"Trust me." Yeah, Jaeseong, she should trust you...because you handled everything SOOOO well so far. Sheesh.
Baker dad sure knows how to put a cake together. That thing was a work of art.
Good heavens, Gieun is actualy right! The bakery does have a marketing problem. Well, you know what they say about an infinite number of monkeys and an infinite number of typewriters....
Boy, that has to be some kind of world record for ruining a party. That thing went down like the Hindenburg. Oh the humanity.
This whole storyline, totally totally hate it. So much unnecessary unhappiness. And besides, Seyeong has said she wants to marry a guy who will want to live at her dad's home. So isn't this just short-term anyway? And does Jaeseong know about that? Ugh.

But either way, yeah I think you're right, it was just a subtitle mistake. I watched the scene. It sounded to me like she said "neighbor ajumma". Seyeong has said she wants to marry a guy who will want to live at her dad's home. So isn't this just short-term anyway? And does Jaeseong know about that? Really? She said that? Hmm.. wonder what the future in-laws and bio mom would think of that. Daily dramas are more family oriented. They always toss the living with the in-laws into the story. I'm guessing it also helps for tv purposes to have everyone under one roof. Not all couples live with the in-laws. I think it mostly comes down to financial circumstances. Couples that can afford to live on their own often prefer to do so.

Good grief, somebody needs to grab the rudder and pull this show out of the nosedive it's taking. What a weak episode. And everybody's uncomfortable or unhappy now--all except Mrs. Kim and Minguk, who treat Seyeong like they have a new puppy in the house.
Maybe I was a little wrong yesterday; maybe Seyeong has some valid reason to need to know what's up with Yerin and Grace. Still, I don't know how it makes anything better.
I like that they brought the wallet back and didn't forget about it. Gives me hope that the script-switching will come back too. That's about the only good thing I can say today.
Very disappointed with what's happened to this show. Somebody please fix it ASAP.

And now what's Minguk doing out there late at night? The whole thing is ridiculous. Seyeong, just go back home already. And now more lies about the wallet? Ugh. One thing's for sure, Yerin had better appreciate what bio-mom is doing for her, trying to get her off the hook like that.
And now you have debt-collector goons in the bakery? What the bleep happened to this show? Looks like they've run out of ideas. I hate to say that, but what else can you think? Good grief.
Nice going Seyeong--way to impress Jaeseong's dad. And you know what, he's coming around a little, isn't he.
All right, grandma! Way to dump the guilt on Mrs. Kim. And you know what, now that the bakery's in trouble, I can even see your point about asking her for money. I wish you'd have done it differently--bring her in as a partner, something like that--but if she can help, take the help.
But why did grandma say the TV segment never aired? Yes it did air! Who wrote that? Geez, how about some continuity here people. And another subtitle mistake with the "Jang Mihwa."
Ilyeong, why did you give Seyeong the brush-off? The others I can understand, but you? I'm disappointed.
I used to look forward to the day's episode but now I'm half-cringing and hoping it gets back on track. At least the ex-husband hasn't come to take the little girl away, thank goodness for that.
P.S. Mrs. Kim going into Seyeong's room and rummaging through her wallet? Really? Would that be considered acceptable in a Korean household, for a parent to do that to an adult child?

Well maybe things will start moving forward now and the show can right itself. A glimmer of hope in this one. But it's pretty faint.
Grandma's right, you guys--I know it's tough to swallow but she's right. Things have changed. But come on, somebody come up with the idea of letting her be an investor. Problem solved, mostly.
Yerin told Seyeong the truth about how angry she was. Was that so hard, Yerin? Keep doing it and things can only get easier
I think Mrs. Kim is a little intimidated by baker dad. Somebody like him with strong principles, people like her don't know what to think of him.
Let's hear it for Jaeseong's dad. Has this guy totally turned it around or what.
Seyeong needs to stop clamming up all the time. Getting annoying.
"She's not the reason you lost everything. She's the reason you kept what you had." Well if you're going to mess with grandma's mind, might as well do it right. Very impressive by PSBMom.
Yes, Donguk, Gieun had good ideas, and you should at least pat her on the head if that's all she wants. A small price to pay...and the Ripley's Believe It or Not people will pay big money.

"I'm tired of lying to you." Good, Yerin, you're fessing up. And now Mrs. Kim is coming to her senses too. Now maybe they'll put all of this silliness to bed and move on to better things. But if this is what they're moving on to--the two girls fighting over Jaeseong--that is NOT better things. Ugh!
Mrs. Kim, if you continue to take Seyeong out in public like that, isn't it risking blowing the lid on this whole lost-daughter-adopted-daughter thing that you need to keep quiet, for your sake and for Yerin's? Oh and if you think she needs a makeover, you need to get your eyes checked.
Geez, it was so nice to see that whole family around a table and happy again. Can we please get back to a little more of that? Just some balance please.
"I don't want you getting close to her." HAH! So there Jaeseong. What goes around comes around. You don't want Seyeong hanging around with Jeonghyo, well, she's got much better reason for you to stay away from Monster Girl. Doesn't she now.
How do these people keep getting into Mrs. Kim's office? What happened to the security?
You almost have to start feeling sorry for PSBMom.
Really, Yerin, you need Jeonghyo to cut your meat for you?
P.S. Stop calling her Yeonju!

78 Oh and if you think she needs a makeover, you need to get your eyes checked. You've got that right. For some of us guys, the show's worth watching just for Seyeong. But yes, I've seen the KBS promotional spot for this show, and it's filled with scenes of fun and amusement. Too bad I came in just as the show got dark and ugly. Guess I missed all the fun parts ... Anyway, I'm still watching (obviously not commenting much) but I am really enjoying your daily reviews. Lately, they've been more entertaining than the show itself.

Hey, mikey...thanks; mainly it's just to blow off steam about the stuff that bugs me. Yeah, early on this show would make me laugh at least once an episode. Some genuinely funny stuff in there. And it was much more slice-of-life, with heavier and lighter stuff together. This turn they've taken towards the where-is-Seyeong-living story, it's not satifying at all and it drags down the whole spirit of the show.
