Why does Yerin get to park right there on the front steps of the BCK headquarters? Shouldn't somebody be towing her?
And again with the We're-sisters-so-we-fight stuff. But it doesn't explain why Seyeong lets Yerin be so rotten to her, because her own sisters (even if she did fight with them) are both good people who would never treat her the way Yerin does. As I said before, this is obviously a writer with unresolved childhood issues. Here's a tip: If you want to write a TV series, see a therapist first and get the junk out of your head so it doesn't screw up your series.
"I worked hard to get this program." shutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutuphutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutup
And now we're back to Yerin disrespecting PSBmom. Sick of it, sick of it.
A little bit of a non-Monster Girl moment there in the stairwell. How did that get through? A genuinely conflicted person is so much more interesting and you wonder why the show refuses to accept that. What also would be interesting is Mrs. Kim noticing that her daughter is showing signs of making the same mistakes she now regrets--trying to bury her wounds in her work rather than dealing with them.
And again with Jeonghyo spurning CEOdad. Sick of it, sick of it.
"I've always wanted you to fail." Ouch! Yerin finally comes out and says it to her point-blank. And again with the sad-puppy face from Seyeong. Sick of it, sick of it. At least Jeonghyo had the good sense to grab her wrist and physically pull her out of the room. But his saying Yerin has an inferiority complex, BUZZ!, incorrect diagnosis.
This thing with Baker Dad and Sara Kim has gotten just about unwatchable. Boring and dragged-out, and most importantly, totally implausible.
"Will you check the VCR?" Okay, you can't be serious. Please tell me this is a translation problem and the network isn't actually running their taped segments off a VCR. (It may actually be a translation problem; maybe in Korean it's some form of "DVR" that didn't translate well.)
Would somebody explain to me why they're doing this cooking show live? Julia Child taped her stuff and she's the best ever. What kind of network turns live cameras on a complete novice and programs a difficult recipe? What dumb writing. And now we're stuck with the completely original announcer-locked-in-a-room idea. Good grief. With a door that locks from the outside, and a guard who's too dumb to check to see if the room is empty. Good grief.
P.S. One thing we have to watch for is whether or not any characters disappear in the last fifteen episodes. We've passed the original endpoint and I've wondered if any of the recent weak storylines are because of the impending loss of actors with pre-existing commitments elsewhere. We'll see.

Yup, altogether, a pretty marginal episode. Still, I liked Yerin's smug attitude when she heard that Seyeong and Jeonghyo were to be wed. I could just imagine her thinking, "Just like Seyeong, to marry a loser like that!"
Bet she'll fall out of her chair once she finds out who Jeonghyo's father is.
BTW, back in my old (broadcast engineer) days, we always called a broadcast-type video recorder (even one with a cassette, like a Sony Digital Betacam) a "VTR" (video tape recorder). This was probably a legacy of the old, reel-to-reel video tape recorders broadcasters used back in the 1960's through the 1980's.
I think that's what they meant, but I suspect that the subtitler didn't catch the subtle difference.

(Pun alert.) Hey Yerin, what kind of fish are you hiding in there--lox?
"Didn't they check to see if someone was inside?" Yerin does have every right to be angry. Still, have to enjoy the irony of it (if not the reused plot device).
Now just hang on here. It was 3:05 when they unlocked the door. Yerin had her little bitchy fit and then ran straight to the studio...which we then saw with the clock running at 3:36 and the show over. That is unbelievably bad writing. Breathtakingly stupid. Did they think we wouldn't notice? What are we supposed to think happened? That some sort of quantum wormhole spontaneously opened up in the hallway and stretched it out to a half-hour trip? UGH!!
"I'm upset she's so angry with me." We used to like Seyeong and admire her. She overcame a lot, and managed to better herself, and had a lot of fortitude to get through all of that announcer exam and training stuff. But the writers have turned her into a pathetic wimp. It's gone on for so long, it's beyond frustrating and become painful. And she's not even the main character any more. The show was supposed to be centered around her...
...but now the focus is on Yerin being mean to people. It isn't even just towards Seyeong any more, it's just Yerin Being Mean. Is there some viewing demographic out there that finds this entertaining? There must be, because they've shifted the show's entire focus to cater to it.
"Yeonga, bring her some cold water." Preferably in a fire hose turned on full blast.
Yerin: "Are you saying that I'm crazy?" Oh, Yeonga, you truly are a saint for not hitting that one out of the park. That suppressed smile you can't hide--you know you wanted to. But notice that once again she made the correct observation about the situation.
Looking good today, Nari.
Not looking good today, Baker Dad. Shiny pink shirt equals cry for help.
And grandma peddling Baker Dad like he's a breeding bull at a ranch. Somebody please stop it already.
Okay, one good laugh today. Baker Dad meowing, how could you not laugh at that.
"My heart pounds when I look at you." Listen carefully to that, Baker Dad--that's your primal flight reflex screaming at you to come to your senses.
And now look at this with Donguk. They're doing the same thing to him that they're doing to Jeonghyo. He wanted to be a pastry chef. That's what he was passionate about. But now he's going to be a film company CEO? What's wrong with him being a pastry chef? I swear, I don't understand these shows any more. It's like it's unacceptable to have a regular job and be a normal, good person. People complain about perfect, beautiful, artificially constructed women setting impossible standards for women--but now every guy has to be a rich executive? (And not only that, actually enjoy going shopping for women's shoes?)
"Men do this sometimes, so don't worry. He must need time to think." What?? CEOdad what the heck are you talking about. Men do not vanish.
And Jeonghyo you idiot, what's there to think about? You like Seyeong and you want to protect her (although this idea of "protecting her" that they've tossed in, that sounds like some pretty blatant nepotism right there) so take the job offer. What's there to think about? But now, who would give a job to a guy who vanishes for three days with no explanation?....Oh, now look at this, the BCK Network, that's who. Good heavens. What a hideous sight: a room full of TV executives. Jeonghyo you took the wrong job. You could have been a staff producer but instead you're going to sit in rooms with TV executives all day? Heaven help you. Wait...actually...you ARE a TV executive now. Somebody, please, call Seal Team Six to get him out of there before it's too late.
P.S. We passed the 90 percent mark of the series today and there still is no resolution in sight for the Yerin character. You figured she'd have some sort of crash and then learn from her screw-ups and gradually become a better person. But is there even time for that any more? It doesn't seem like they can possibly rehabilitate her in thirteen episodes, with the deeply rooted psychological problems she has.

Mister Executive: "He'll need much more than ideas." Oh really? How did you do it? But then..."I've always had a high opinion of him. He's great at his job." Then why didn't you speak up when the cooking show got taken away from him? Ugh!
And Mrs. Kim, you need to be more supportive and not complain about this. What the heck is wrong with you? You started the series looking down on Jeonghyo and now you're doing it again. Don't be such a snob.
Yerin to Jaeseong: "I lost the program because of you." Earlier you said it was Seyeong's fault and slapped her in front of everybody. shutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutuphutupshutupshutupshutup
"You need to know your place." Yerin, I just told you to shut up and you didn't listen, and now you've REALLY gone and done it. "You should try to get on my good side so you can keep your job." And then the shoulder-bump! Well that sure was sweet; how could you not enjoy her digging that huge hole with Jeonghyo. Just like with his dad...but of course he hasn't paid her back for that, has he (Why not?).
And now we're back to Seongsu acting like an irresponsible child. We saw him grow up and start to take responsibility for himself, and right after that they promptly wrote him out of the storyline. And this is the only way they could bring him back? This is the best idea they could come up with? Good grief. The only good thing about it is we get to see more of Ilyeong.
Baker dad: "We're planning to get married." Looks like Seyeong is the winner for the most appropriate nauseated face. But wait, here comes Donguk making a late move...and he pulls ahead with the dazed stare.
People probably think Ilyeong wildly overreacted to it all...but it's totally understandable, thinking about her dead mom and now looking at how her dad has completely lost his mind.
"I still don't know how this happened." Join the club, pal. What did that idiot trainee do to merit himself a promotion? Wait a minute...."Hyeonmo is full of great ideas." Really, CEOdad? Great--give him the writing job for this show. NOW!
And now Mrs. Kim bitching because she thinks the whole Jeonghyo thing is nepotism. Yeah, lady, you've never done anything to help one of your own kids, have you. Sheesh. "No one else had a say in this." Ummm, the entire board of directors had a say in it. What the heck is wrong with her lately? Maybe she's bitter about the wedding falling through. You'd better shape up, lady, because look what's happening--Mister Executive is talking sense to you. Think about how low you've fallen for that to happen. That's like needing marriage advice from a Kardashian.
Okay, it was so subtle but did anybody catch that sneer in Ilyeong's face when Yerin walked out of her office? Totally hilarious. This show has suffered from leaving Ilyeong out of the storyline. She's a really good actress and can be very funny.
"Will you let your daughter marry my son?" CEOdad, not cool. They're two adults and they're perfectly capable of going to Mrs. Kim and asking for her blessing directly. Your asking for it as her superior in the workplace is inappropriate, and unfair to her.
P.S. Media reports say there's a shortage of big turkeys this Thanksgiving. Apparently they haven't watched this show lately. Hey-ooooooo!

"We were a little rash." No, CEOdad, eczema is a little rash. You were downright reckless. No wonder Mrs. Kim feels uncomfortable.
Yerin does NOT have an inferiority complex! Stop it.
"You've brought this upon yourself. Why did you say no to Jeonghyo when he said he liked you? Because you didn't know his dad was the CEO?" How great was it to see Seyeong pushing back for a change. Of course what she said is totally incorrect, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
Good heavens--what on earth is Sara Kim wearing?? That thing looks like some sort of M.C. Escher psychotic nightmare. Geez, she's outdone herself with this one.
Godspeed, Ilyeong--you bust up that relationship. Do whatever it takes. And how funny was it when she gave Donguk the brushoff like the dope he's turned into. Whoever left her on the sidelines for so many episodes is a huge idiot. The show is SO much better with her in it.
"Why can't she understand? I have my own life too." No, Baker Dad, why can't YOU understand her concern? Sara ran away from one man already, and you two have known each other for what, a month? Try explaining to your daughter why she shouldn't be acting like this. Bet you can't.
Gieun to Donguk: "Is it our turn next?" Uh, you had your turn already and you panicked and ran. You think everybody's forgotten that? Who's gonna show up for the next one? Maybe if the invitation says you'll be strapped to a hospital gurney and wheeled into the ceremony...oh, why bother. goawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoaway
He actually gave her a car? Wait til Yerin gets a load of that. But it raises an interesting question about an employer doing something like that for an employee when there's a personal relationship involved. And you can understand her being uncomfortable about it...but hey look at this, she's parking it IN THE PARKING LOT and not on the front steps. What a concept. Just for that you get to keep it, Seyeong.
And now what do we have here? A legitimate journalistic controversy? How about that! This is a good premise; could be a real interesting story.
But see, they're already screwing it up. First of all, Jeonghyo wouldn't be going out there and looking for the informant. He's a strategist--that's not his job. There are investigators or internal affairs or whatever you call it who handle that. And second, what did he do that was wrong anyway? He saw the guy and called him out, and the guy has some sort of attack, and that's his fault? Give me a break. Geez, it's almost amazing how quickly that good idea went stupid on us. Oh, and where were those network security guys? They'll rough up Baker Dad with his bread, but they won't protect the company CEO from kimchi-throwing protesters? Ugh.

Thank you very much for grabbing the Sara Kim picture. Particularly that one. People here who aren't watching this must be wondering why all the comments about people's ugly clothes. Exhibit A! It's amazing that somebody would even make something like that.
The thought of Gieun and Donguk having one of those...somewhere Charles Darwin is trembling in fear.

Thank you CEOdad; it's not Jeonghyo's job to fix this.
But I like that there's a little substance to the story--looking for precedents in similar past situations, stuff like that. And Jeonghyo has exactly the right idea to get product samples; that's the first JAESEONG should have done at the beginning of the reporting, and apparently didn't do. So this really is all on him for not gathering proper evidence (and getting it chemically tested to prove the phony coloring).
Now Baker Dad is talking about abandoning the bakery? Hopefully he's not serious. Can't tell; the insanity shows no sign of easing. And now he impulsively slugs the drunk in the bar. They've totally sacrificed the character we knew for so long and liked a whole lot better than the nut he's turned into. I guess they think this is all supposed to be okay because he loves her. It isn't.
Apparently somebody has to dress like an idiot every day on this show. Today it's Donguk wearing a camouflage suit jacket. No kidding. Beyond explanation. Or wait, maybe he's hoping Gieun won't find him. That's an acceptable excuse.
"What about my dignity?" Sorry, Seongsu, have to go see the writers to find that. They're the ones who took it from you.
What exactly do they plan to do with Jeonghyo? As though the big powerful TV network won't come looking for him? Not thinking too well, are you, crooked boss. And really? The kimchi company has goons? And they can't outrun Seyeong in her heels? Seriously? Wow, those are some pretty sorry goons right there.
"What would she see in a toad like him?" Misuk, what a thing to say about Baker Dad--even if he has lost his mind. Shame on you. But take out "a toad like" and you've hit the nail right on the head. Or at least half of it. The other half is, What would he see in (a mosquito like) her.
"Shouldn't we hear from Jeonghyo about this?" CEOdad, what is wrong with you? You and the board make an impulsive decision to close the new department, and NOW you say you should hear from Jeonghyo? That's the kind of idiot management I'd expect from Mister Executive.
What's the problem, Mrs. Kim? The footage has to be "verified?" Baloney! Those are the actual employees on that tape. They're busted. You're just still looking down your nose at Jeonghyo. And I love Seyeong going on the air with it anyway. That's great stuff. Exactly the kind of thing that makes for a good story in a show about a news organization. How did this whole good idea survive and get into the show? Somebody wasn't doing their usual shoddy job.
And how about this, we see Seyeong doing the news. When was the last time we saw her working? Had no idea what she was doing.
"Mom, is grandpa having an affair?" Don't react that way, mom. This is a great teaching opportunity. Your daughter needs to learn that even good, decent, admirable people can go crazy and lose their minds if the writing goes down the tubes.
Why is everybody gathered here? Uh-oh...oh geez, and now the madness is complete. I can't watch this. I'm going to go hide under the bed. Poor Ilyeong. Wherever she is. Hey look, she's hiding too. Under some of the bed. Wait a minute, Yeonga's there. Please Yeonga, you're our last hope--can't you talk sense into these people? Darn, I guess not.

Don't know about you, but I was dammed impressed watching little Seyeong grab that steel bar, and snap that chain with her bare hands! And THEN she goes and outruns the factory's goons, in her high heels!
My heavens, is Seyeong some kind of undiscovered Korean Wonder Woman?
But, good for her in going on the air with the film footage, against her bio mom's orders. Finally, she showed us a little grit. About time!
That wedding really had me reeling. Yup, Baker Dad - who, at one time, was the family's foundation of stability - has officially lost his mind.
I have to admit, that GIF is one of the cutest things I've seen in years.

Puke.
Ilyeong is right; she really can't bust up the wedding. Baker Dad is "happy"--define that as you like--and there's no talking sense to him right now. But Ilyeong, you ride her hard--HARD. "Now that you're marrried, you'd better stay married." That's it--lots more of that.
"I can die in peace now." Can we get that in writing, grandma? Sorry, that wasn't nice, was it...but you were the cause of all this and you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
Yongdeok: "I didn't think Mr. Choi had that in him." Cracked me up.
"I won't let you get away." Donguk--what has changed? Why would you want her if she's so shallow that your modest living made her run away? Oh, wait...apparently you've become that shallow too, now that your living may not be modest any more. Great, another character we used to like who's gone soft in the head.
And here's Baker Dad talking to his dead first wife's picture on his wedding night. Yeah, he's ready to move on. Aaaaaaand, crash, there it is--the Sara Kim we know and hate. This sure was a real good idea, wasn't it. Hope you did a prenup, Sara.
"The employees have spoken. The committee will not convene." What kind of leadership is that? Seyeong disregarded management instructions and needs to be punished for it. Just a slap on the wrist, or probation, or something suspended--but letting the employees dictate this is only asking for trouble. It's not a democracy. CEOdad needs to wake up.
AAAAAAAAAA-HAHAHAHAHA! The flash drive! One thing you have to like about this show, they don't forget these things. It was 30-plus episodes ago we saw that thing...and Yerin, I told you 26 episodes ago, if you're dumb enough to have kept it, at least erase it. But nooo...what a dumb move.
Jeonghyo, you're Googling how to propose? Ugh, try to figure it out from the heart and not from the Internet. And you want your daddy there? Ewww. And look at the studio with balloons and crepe paper, and people hiding behind a curtain with noisemakers? Dude, it's not a ten-year-old's surprise birthday party. This is gonna be like a Nascar accident--so awful that you can't not look at it.
But hey, nice ring. Way to shell out.
"But you changed." No, Jeonghyo, she didn't change. She always had that horrible fear buried inside her.
You forgot the ring? How could you forget the ring? Duh! And look at this now--wow are you gonna end up paying for that one.
And now Yerin...well, what? This Yerin thing continues to hum right along with no end in sight and nine episodes left. Okay, now she's been caught admitting to awful things. Is she going to run up to the roof and throw herself off it? We saw her almost do that early in the series...but that's not like her at all. So are we just going to end up leaving her bitter and shamed and with her career sagging and her dream marriage lost and in whatever extra trouble she's gotten into just now? Really? Seems hard to figure. There's one card this show hasn't played yet: Yerin's dad. Maybe he'll show up and he's a total SOB and he scares her straight...or maybe he died and some relative will show up with some trivial inheritance to give her and she founds out he was a total SOB and it scares her straight. The way Sara Kim supposedly became a kinder, sweeter believer in family within a few episodes, it suggests maybe they'll force the same thing onto Yerin. Will be a tough sales job if that's what they try. Would be nice to see her reconcile with PSBmom--they could maybe go that route--but PSBmom has been almost completely written out lately. I just don't get it.

Thank you very much for grabbing the Sara Kim picture. Particularly that one. People here who aren't watching this must be wondering why all the comments about people's ugly clothes. Exhibit A! It's amazing that somebody would even make something like that..... Just jumping in here. I find the fashions in Korean dramas rather disturbing on the whole. Boy band members dress like Miami trophy wives, young women pimp themselves out until they get a boyfriend, at which time they turn into defrocked nuns, and if you're a married woman, no matter how young, heaven help you. You are either decked out in expensive-but-frumpy suits or if you don't have the money, something like Baptist girls--skirt hem around the ankles, ill-fitting top, mismatched sweater, flat tennis shoes--white Keds knockoffs no less. I hate it. Not that I'm a fashion plate, I've been in the tee-shirt and jeans phase for several years now, but I'm watching people on TV. They're supposed to look better than I do.

"You knew but you didn't do anything? Are you a fool?" BINGO! Thanks to Mrs. Kim for saying what must be said. And Seyeong trying to explain herself--"I waited until she accepted me as her sister. It takes time to hate, forgive and understand." Does that make any sense at all? Do sisters really think this way? It sounds like baloney to me, but is there some grain of reality here that I don't understand since I'm not a sister?
"It's over for me." Yeah, it is. "I can't even believe myself." And there's the interesting Yerin again. Welcome back, it's been way, way too long.
They're condemning Jeonghyo, but at least the guy's not a squealer, give him credit for that much. And come on, the guy was in love with Yerin and trying to get her to change her ways. All you people standing there in judgment, get the facts first and judge not.
"This is the first time you've ever let me down." CEOdad, you don't know the story so just zip it. You're acting like you care more about Seyeong than your own son. Of course you walked out on him so maybe that makes sense.
And the 27-year-old Gieun gets grounded because she likes Donguk. Been there done that. And does Donguk still work at the bakery or not? If he doesn't, how's it staying solvent? That whole bakery storyline was interesting--so of course it had to go.
"Let's not obsess over our children. Let's leave them to live their lives." Careful, Yongdeok, you keep talking like that and you'll get a lifetime ban from K-dramas.
"I don't like that hat--it makes you look like a bear." If that's Sara Kim's assessment of it, order me a dozen.
Baker Dad: "I need to punish you!" Get in line, pal.
"They like each other. And they're grown-ups." Careful, Baker Dad, you keep talking like that and you'll get a lifetime ban from K-dramas.
"Who knew we'd end up married?" I think Satan probably did.
Grandma: "You're going to suck all the life out of him!" Sara Kim: "How dare you try to suck all the life out of my dear son!?" Wow, it's like a virus spreading. Overbearing Mom Pox. Is there a vaccine for that?
Great reaction shot of Seongsu--very funny.
"I ran away not because I didn't love him but because I was a child." And so much has changed in the last, what, five weeks? goawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoawaygoaway
Seyeong, Yerin just isn't a warm-and-fuzzy and doesn't want to share her problems with you. Leave her alone. Sheesh. You're a high future risk for contracting Overbearing Mom Pox.
"I'm not a human being. I'm a monster." BINGO! Wish I'd said that...hey wait a minute....
And Jaeseong, yes you should want to help her start over. If you had gotten her the help she needed when you realized what was wrong with her, instead of just standing there and clamming up all the time, maybe it wouldn't have come to this.
"You look so much like Jeonghyo's mother. That's why I was surprised when we met." EEEEWWWWWWWWW
Wow, and PSBmom gave Yerin the brushoff for good? Not that Yerin didn't have it coming, but I hope Yerin can find her and patch things up. That would be a nice ending.
And Mrs. Kim is left crying on the pavement as a daughter drives away. Been there done that.
But now we have the complex, interesting Yerin back. Already the show is better. Finally some sense of self-awareness of her flaws, and we're wondering what she'll end up doing next and how she might redeem herself or at least start to become a better person.

Father and son seem to have similar taste in women. "You look so much like Jeonghyo's mother. That's why I was surprised when we met." EEEEWWWWWWWWW LOL I think we need the Ick guard again. The "You remind me of my mother" line is commonly used in K-Dramas when a guy explains his reasons for liking a girl. They don't seem to find anything weird about it.
