Sad news, the actor who play Bidam just caught Swine flu, so he won't be joining the Seondeok from now. I wonder how the story will change because Bidam was the one who needs to kill Queen Seondeok. I'm guessing the Queen Seondeok will finish earlier than they expected.

Episode 52This episode was depressing and didn't seem to fit. It felt like we missed something. Deokman becomes the Queen and suddenly there's a time jump. It seems to be several years looking at Seolwan's graying hair and beard. Couldn't we have enjoyed her coronation a bit since it took so much to get to that point? I thought the same thing as you; police state, KGB or Gestapo. Queen Seondeok's reign was a violent one between fighting against Baekje and rebellions in Shilla. The ruler had always been a king. Even neighboring kingdoms looked down upon her. I would like to see some of her accomplishments and perhaps a few battle scenes, not just hear about them. I wonder how much Bidam is making Seondeok paranoid. I understand being careful whom to trust now that she's the Queen but Yushin and the other men she's known for years? She's lived with them longer than's she's known Bidam. I feel they've proved their loyalty to her. I also felt Bidam was absolutely reveling in the powerful position he was given. That goes for Yeomjong too. I agree that Bidam is jealous of Yushin. He really has no reason to be, Seondeok isn't going to marry Yushin. Maybe he hopes to get Yushin out of the way so he won't have much opposition. I was glad to hear some meaningful dialogue from Chunchu. He's been so clever and wise in the past but for awhile there he wasn't saying much. I was surprised to hear Chunchu tell Alcheon that Seondeok put Bidam in a powerful position to keep them in check. They should be the ones she trusts the most. Alcheon should be out there fighting alongside Yushin not being bored to death in his new post. I too am disappointed with Woyla and some of the other Gaya people. The Queen has been very generous with them and gave important positions to those that helped her in the past. Although funny, it seemed strange seeing Jukbang in minister's clothing or whatever his title is. The scene with Hajong crying for his mommy was hilarious and pathetic.

Ep 53 and 54 - no subs. Do any of you understand Korean? When they rub their hands together in front of their face it means: please help me!

Ep 53 and 54 - no subs. Do any of you understand Korean? I only watched episode 53 so far but I lost count how many times Yushin and Bidam's names were mentioned. Maybe things aren't as bad as they appear because at the end the Queen smiled and said to herself, "Thanks Yushin." I don't know how anyone wouldn't trust Yushin. His face reads like a book. It's disgusting watching Bidam, Yeomjong, Seolwan, Misaeng, Bojong and Hajong conspiring together. I'd like to wipe those devious smirks off their faces.

Episode 53 Wolya and Sulji (?) escaped with inside help and unfortunately he was caught. They later break out Yushin either to save him or to implicate him as part of their group. News spread quickly of Yushin's escape. They put Yushin in a worse predicament than he was already in. Yushin is not happy about this and punches Wolya. He's loyal to the Queen but also cares about the Gaya people. I'm sure we all expected Yushin to return otherwise it would've really looked like he was a traitor. Unfortunately he's not off the hook either since he was arrested again. This is all part of Bidam's plot, along with help from Yeomjong and Mishil's men. Bidam knows Yushin is loyal. He's just as cunning as his mother. It seemed as though Bidam was trying to get Yushin to turn on the Bokyahoe (?) group. Yushin doesn't want to betray either one. I'm wondering if Seondeok is catching on to Bidam because a few times she gave him some nasty looks. I'm glad Yushin's fellow hwarang were defending him. I think Chunchu believes in his innocence too.
Episode 54
When Seondeok was talking to Yushin they mentioned Shilla and Gaya a few times. I guess she wants him to turn in the traitors or something along those lines. I was shocked at how harsh the Queen was towards Yushin's mother as she pleaded for her son. Even more surprising was Bidam hugging Seondeok. His feelings are obvious, I just can't believe he did it. Whatever she said to him, probably that they couldn't be together, he asked "why". Blasted Yeomjong and his poison darts. Good thing Yushin wasn't there. Was Bidam in on this too? It seemed to me that the Queen secretly sent Yushin into Baekje territory. I don't get it. Does she trust him or not? I assumed it was a Baekje encampment by the map that guy in the tent was looking at. Shilla would be to the east of Baekje. Whatever was up with those seemingly important scrolls (battle plans?) Yushin definitely chose the wrong one and blew his cover. Why were Gaya people and Bojong and CO. all following Yushin? It looks like the ties are broken with Yushin, Woyla and Sulji. You could tell they were fighting about Gaya. Any hopes they had of putting Yushin on the throne are gone. The anger and tears said it all. The Queen was saying something to Seolwan about "saeju" and to Bidam she mentioned Mishil.
Can't wait to actually know what was being said. There were quite a few scenes with characters looking shocked.

Ok, I give up: why are the latest two episodes of Queen Seon Duk not up at the usual sites? What's up? There was a problem (bug) with saving the subs and there is a shortage of subbers. The problem has been resolved but now we have to wait patiently until they can put up the subs. It's killing me too chuck.

This will end at EP 62 being the final tally so that's only 2 Extra Episodes sadly , I am surprised that considering its high ratings that MBC did not extend it longer like the amazing "Yi San "went from 50 to 77 . Anyway i just started this and i must say its great especially Mishil .(Still she has a looonnng way to go to catch Jang Hyibin the ultimate femme fatal of Korean History )
Allegedly Seon Deok was a Psychic of sorts and was able to see into the near future which helped her rule so well ,im wondering if the drama will pick up on this

Episode 53
This whole mess was enabled (not to say caused: Bidam caused it) by the Queen's inexplicable distrust of Yushin. She knows he isn't guilty of anything, and yet had Bidam arrest him anyway. She puts her trust in the one she knows has lied to her in the past, Bidam. It is both stupid and a betrayal of the man she once wanted to run away with. If Yushin is guilty simply for not knowing the Gayans were doing this, then Bidam is twice as guilty, because it is his job to know about it, and they riddled his own organization. He's the one who should be on trial for treason.
And how did the Queen not call Bidam on the ultra-obvious ploy of virtually pushing Yushin out the door for the Gayans to liberate him?
In spite of all this, I'm still not sure whose side Bidam is on. I think he might just be stringing along Mishil's people, only to betray them in the end.
One can only hope.

The phone book is here, the phone book is here! (Oops, sorry, wrong show...) The subs are here, the subs are here!!! Ep 53 and 54 - I do so love the way it's so hard to tell who's scamming whom and who really believes what. It's clear that Seonduk is royally ticked off at Yushin, but it's equally clear she's got a plan to restore the balance of power and she's equally ticked off at Bidam. When she was talking to Seolwan about Mishil's will, was she telling him that she knew they were plotting to put Bidam on the throne, or was she warning him to back off in using Bidam to get power back for themselves? Seonduk screaming SPY??? at the end of 54, I though that was so funny. I do so hope she strings up Bojong for capturing Yushin while he's on a secret mission. Poor Yushin was probably on his way to Daeya Fort to warn them when he got caught. Good thing his nangdos got back to Seorabol and warned SD. I'm really curious as to how the whole Gaya/Wolya situation is going to get resolved. I'm surprised that Yushin has not pointed out to Seonduk that they will never be able to absorb the people of Gogoryo and Baekje if they can't absorb little Gaya. Nitpick - Doesn't anyone in this show except Chunchu know how to read facial expressions? Doesn't anyone notice the way Mishil's folks are constantly smirking? And Yushin is probably the last person you'd want to send on a spy mission. He and the nangdos looked so uneasy and shifty-eyed when they were in the Baekje camp. They may as well have had SPIES written on the their backs.

Episode 55
It looks like Seolwan is a goner. He won't be coming back from the war. That will weaken Mishil's remaining followers drastically. He's the only one with a brain. I still don't count Bidam as one of Mishil's "followers."
The preview of coming attractions showed the Queen and Chunchu both taken captive by Wolya and the Gayans. I don't think I'm going out on a limb to predict that she will win them over to her side, and the Gayan army, armed with their improved crossbows, will turn the tide of the war in favor of Shilla, thus giving the Queen an opportunity to forgive them for their previous crimes. Wolya was already wavering on whether the rebellion made sense to begin with.
I am wondering what Chunchu's scheme was to save Yushin from his many detractors.
Bidam's dream of marrying the Queen doesn't look promising, if it is the Gayans who save Shilla, and not Bidam.

Hehe spot on, Chuck. I was thinking Yushin will come up smelling like roses and he did. ;D
Bidam's face was precious when Yushin marched in, restored as a general. He looked so floored when SD presented the sword to Yushin.
Wow, SD's doing all the hard work to start things up for Chunchu. It's already ten years in her reign. She doesn't have long to go. Just, what, another five or seven before she dies?

Ep 55 and 56 Finally, the good guys get some momentum going again! Seonduk proves to Bidam that she doesn't need him to save the country for her. She's doing pretty well herself, thank you. Atta boy to Chunchu for getting an idea on how to win over the Gayans, and then having the guts (or silver tongue) to make it happen. Atta boy to Yushin for showing Bidam what it really means to love the sacred kingdom. Big atta boy to Wolya for finally doing the right thing for his people. I'll even give an atta boy to Seolwan for sheer "warrior-ness". He may have been one of the bad guys, but he always had some great good qualities. Hajong The nobles - it's a wonder Seonduk doesn't get seasick watching them wave back and forth, back and forth, "Yushin's a traitor, off with his head" "We need Yushin to save us"... Oh how fickle is the mob. Nitpick - The whole thing with the "heuk" character. Don't these people know the Chinese characters well enough to know to look at the written name, not how it's pronounced? So it's the radical for black. When combined with other radicals it could have been anything. Atta boy to Bidam for going over the written names in the fort's roster til he found a name with the radical in it. What a lovely ending with Yushin restored to favor and Bidam absolutely stunned. Yushin's going to save the country with his army and the Gayan crossbows. You go Yushin!
