They were low class not slaves.

Thanks for the correction, jiniluvr. I actually forgot to edit my post. I usually do when I realize I've written something incorrect, etc. but I forgot to this time. Kisaeng were of the slave class. Like they were on par with slaves, but it's like they were "slaves with benefits." Sort of.

That log could have killed her. Wouldn't there be a severe punishment? For murder or for destroying valuable property? Were they Buddhists? Is all life valuable? I'm puzzled, because this was not a prank. grrr.

ok, I admit to being a duffus... What in the world happened last nite? Why did she get out of synch with her group? Did I blink my eyes too long? Did the group plot against her and create a different routine? I really look forward to those of you who were bright enough to figure it out.

Join the club. I thought I sensed a signal from Booyoong sp? to the other members of her troupe and immediately after they all seemed to separate away from M and leave her in the center of the ring alone. Like you, I have no clue as to what that's supposed to accomplish, other than to somehow embarrass her in front of the officials. If anyone should be considered out of sync, it should be the troupe, since I would think that's definitely not part of the dance routine. Was this a routine ball? I thought the contest is still a month away.

I think Booyoung realized by yesterday's episode that she can't beat Jini no matter how hard she tries. And when she also came to know that the Minister is falling in love with Jini, she vowed to "break her into pieces." She doesn't have to win the competition, it's really Maehyang, Baekmu, and Jini that have to worry about their positions, so Booyoung took it to her advantage and tried to destroy Jini by breaking their routine.
I thought the ball was supposed to be a month away too, but I think they've again fastforwarded and here we are, one month later.
She was out of synch because she apparently was born to fly solo. She wasn't meant to dance for a group, she was meant to be an individualistic dancer, which is why Baekmu wanted to teach her the crane dance and why Baekmu was taught it herself. Maehyang realized this, but she broke through Jini, she's, IMO, done the impossible, and Jini can now dance with the others.

Me, too-wha' happened?? It was going wrong somehow, but it couldn't tell except from their faces or eyes looking uncomfortable, then they moved away from Jini. I was looking for blood running down Jini-I thought Boo--- had struck her or something.
Then while doing the laundry Jini realized the idea of teamwork. But how teamwork differs from staying on the beat, I don't know. Also, most of the troupe is behind her or to the side-she can't really see them, can she? And besides, the routine is set, she just has to repeat it, there aren't any jazz riffs here.

I agree with you Bae. Booyoung changed the dance routine with the other members of the group in order to make Jini look like she couldn't dance with them. I suppose if the people watching didn't know the routine (did you see the looks on the faces of Baekmu and Maehyang?) then it looks as if Jini messed up. Especially since everyone else was still moving in sync. I also think that this move will come back to Booyoung in some bad way. She won't get away with it.
Booyoung was upset because she overheard Minister H tell Jini to pretend he was her lost love and to dance for him. He advised her to pretend that so that her true passion would show in the dance instead of her "very fake smile". Afterwards,Booyoung went to him and asked Minister H is she could dance for him but he refused her.

I thought she put the ring Eunho gave her back on for inspiration instead of dancing for Jungham. Apparently this *was* the contest. Betrayed by Maehyang and her troupe when they turned what I hoped was triumph in their faces with her quick thinking solo, into self centered individual performance over her group. At least she got to pay homage to Eunho by doing her dance for him. I don't like where this seems to be headed. I thought Myeongwol was so much smarter than the other giasengs, and even the Ministers. How can she be falling for that old "play every song on the second string" trick?? I can't stand that Byeok, even if her mother thinks it's for her own good. It would serve him right if she told him she'd only be with him if he takes Damshin for his own. Did I mention I can't stand that guy?

Is that really a trick? Tell me more! But isn't it Byeok whom Jini's mother advised to do that? (I missed a bit of Tuesday's episode, so I might not have seen what you're talking about.)

Gosh Zorro do you really not like Byeok, you can't tell from your writing!!! I can't stand him either and I was surprised at Jini's mother for helping him. It seemed like the plan might be working but we will have to wait until next week to find out. I really want to see Jini end up with the Minister, they are so good together.

Lucy, I was being sarcastic. It just seems to simple a plan for Myeongwol's supposed intellect.
I also got to wondering at the beginning of the episode when the real trick was played on Myeongwol, why when she was just standing there in the middle of the stage, none of the officials said anything to question what was going on.
To top it off, when she decides to keep dancing, she has musical accompaniment to a dance no one has seen before… how did they know what to play??
And finally, when she finishes, the officials all applaud. Why would they do that if they knew she messed up the performance?

I can't understand Jini's mother AT ALL. She's been about protecting her from the world and keeping Jini away from the ways of a Ki-saeng, and now she's practically thrusting that world onto Jini. She wants her to become Byeok's keep basically. How can she, as a mother, be all right with that? How can she endorse it, let alone HELP Byeok with his stupid schemes? I can only imagine what Jini will do when she finds out it is all a trap, if she finds out at all.

I think jini mother is correct in what she is doing because she has always wanted to get away and have revenge on Baemu but she is to scared or wise to do it like her daughter jini. She is trying to get her daughter away from beamu the only way she knows how and plus you have to remember somehow Jini is going to have to go to the palace to dance for the king to get him to cry. This is the best way i think for this story to get to that point. The mother knows Jini can handle any man that comes her way but that Baemu is a sly fox and an even bigger gambler how many times has she gambled her life away for Jini just to dance. Her mother knows that the giseangs are more ruthless than any man the men just want to have your body and since as a giseang you had to give that up its no big deal. But it seems that Baemu wants to take her soul. Not to mention i really want to know what happened to the mother for her to go blind i think Baemu had something to do with that? Ok that was long i should write more often huh??

Ok that was long i should write more often huh?? Sure, write more! Yes, those women are ruthless; wonder if they ever sabotage each other's makeup or food? I wish they would show more of their lives. How do they profit from being given houses from men? They all live in one place and have to follow rules. It seems like there's one leader and everyone else is treated like a student. If they were employees, they could leave when their shifts were over, and go enjoy all that money they are supposedly making. Wonder if Baekmu charges them for room and board? Jini's mother didn't want Jini to fall for the minister because she wouldn't be allowed to marry him. So she wants her to fall for the royal playboy? Exactly how does that save Jini from heartbreak, if she actually FALLS for the guy??
