I think I misspelled it, but Lucy will fix it. LOL. And I don't know how many episodes there are, so Knov1 will have to put that in! Why am I here? I am the GREETER! Hah hah HAAAAAH...
This drama is about a kisaeng in Korea in...oh, some time ago. Yes, certainly before I was born, or any of us, I'm sure of that. It will air starting January 3, 2007, on Wednesday and Thursday nights from 8 to 9 pm and re-airing the next afternoon at 1:30 (REMEMBER KBC's schedule is notoriously WEIRD so give yourself a buffer) for those of you who need your beauty sleep at night.
Your moderators are Lucy, well-known admin saram, and Knov1--some of our "older" members may remember him from AOW and Damo days. So you've got a great team for this popular and reputedly excellent drama!
Well, I'm perfectly certain this post will have to be heavily modified and/or removed, so hi for now!
Bo

PS - there was an article in the Chicago Tribune about this drama--yesterday? They used the words "Koreans embrace" -- and "gisaeng"?? in the headline. See, I'm totally useless. It was an AP article, so should be easy to locate on line. Bo PS - it was posted here: see Allanakim or JP's post

I'm not touching your post, Bo; it was quite amoozing. ANyway, Hwang Jini is advertised as airing at 7:45 P.M. on Wed and Thurs, replacing "The Invisible Mr. Choi."

Welcome, easteyes! alykum asslam. I'm enjoying this drama, too. The scenes on the bridge are very beautiful. The costumes are gorgeous, rustling silk in beautiful colors. Isn't it amazing that these dramas pull us in and get us interested in Korean customs and foods and clothes and language! I have been having lots of fun learning to cook some Korean foods and shopping in a new Korean market nearby. I can hear Korean language in the shops here, and sometimes I say Hello and maybe I tell them that I like watching the Korean television channel.

Easteyes, I am American. I don't know any addresses of Hwang Jini people, sorry. Others here might know of fan clubs. Have you visited the site of Koreanwiz? You can find sites for various dramas and actors, and news from Korea. Also shopping from Yesasia. www.koreanwiz.orgDo you like to cook? I have found recipes for Korean foods on the internet, by Googling the subject. I guess you wouldn't find some of the ingredients, but some ingredients must be common things. Like seasonings: roasted sesame seed oil (it's dark colored), garlic, soy sauce, ginger root, scallions. There is Korean red pepper powder, but you can get the heat from ground cayenne instead. Do you have tofu (soybean curd)? (We don't have a symbol for a smiley face saying Yummy)

I don't know about you guys, but this show just got a lot more interesting to me. I watched Episode 1 and Episode 2, but then gave up on it because all the lovey-dovey stuff just got really boring. But now that Jini is accepting her role as a Kisaeng, it makes for a more interesting episodes.

I don't know about you guys, but this show just got a lot more interesting to me. Agreed! ;D I was also an unenthusiastic viewer until Jini turned cold and ruthless. That’s when she finally became interesting. Also (I may be in the minority here) but I’m GLAD to see Eunho go. Something about his relationship with Jini just kept creeping me out out. It always looked to me as if he were a 14-year old boy pursuing a grown-up adult woman.
