Myeongwol liked Mr. Kim (Mr. Gang) earlier, and thought he would make a good friend because of his love for the arts, but then she soured on him when he became an official.
From her reactions so far, she has no interest in Byeok. As far as Jungham, I thought it was funny how when he asked for 100 nights with her he then backed off because there wasn't enough land in the country to offer her as compensation. In his own way, he's teasing her seemingly at his own expense.
But enough about them… that girl can dance! I was impressed with her training regimen especially the squat turn and steps over the roped practice area while spinning those knives. What a great scene with her and the teacher engrossed in their progress while the troupe snuck up only to be flabbergasted at her success. And she's won over the rival teacher as well.
The competition should be really interesting now. I can't wait.

Jini said something to the effect that as long as his poem was in her memory, she shouldn't depend on the written words, as if they would then become some kind of crutch. It all seemed like fast talking back peddling to me, but it worked and ended up saving Joesen's music. PS to BAE… My bad. I didn't mean you on the DJY post, but I appreciate your consideration, and sorry if it caused you or JP any hassles. Thanks for the explanation, zorro. She's really swift with her words. As lovable as she is, she's also a bit cunning. Don't worry about it, zorro. You didn't specify who you were talking about and since your post directly followed mine, I thought you were referring to me. It's all good. ;D

Thanks everyone, after last nights episode I do have a better understanding of the two men. I knew that the one looked familiar, thanks for letting us know he is from "Great Expectations". I loved it when the minister of music, who I like the best, told the other guy that he should spend more time with his wife rather than with Gisaengs. I wonder if Jini will like either one of the men, I hoping for the minister of music. I also like her bodyguard, he is quiet but very good looking. I have questions about the bodyguard's role. He seems to be involved in her life a lot. I wonder if the writer has more in mind for this character. I agree gp. The Minister is a lot like Eunho, and JIni is probably distancing herself from him even more because she recognizes their similarities. I wish that she ends up with the Minister as well, but if she had such a hard time marrying a nobleman, imagine what the pair of them might go through because he's a minister!

And to just watch her character's progress was amazing. While she is a good dancer, there's a certain grace missing in Ha Ji Won's dancing. The best I've seen her dance on the show would be when she performed for Eunho. Just utterly beautiful. Jini is a hardworker and she's pure in heart, though not intentions, which is why you can just tell she'll become incredibly successful. Which means that that's how many enemies she'll have. I wonder who tried to off her in last night's episode. It made me sad to watch Boo-young's face when she came to realize that Maehyang is paying more attention to Jini. I like her the most in this show because she tries so hard to be the best because she knows that she's already in second place. If she had the zeal and passion that Jini did, I'm sure she'd be the most desired Kisaeng by now.

OHHHH!!!! Thank you, teacher, for telling us who that former flute player is. I knew that show as "Kindergarden Love" and I really enjoyed it. I thought this guy was familiar. but with all of the men dressing alike, I couldn't place him. Now that you mentioned this, I can recognize him and that will help me keep the main guys straight. Thanks again, you really made my day!

The flute player, who was named a minister of music, is Kim Jae Won. He played the lead in the comedy/drama, Great Expectations. He was the gangster who inherited a kindergarten from his mother. I really enjoyed him in that show and have watched tapes of it several times. He is interested in Jini, but has not declared himself yet. He is not at all as arrogant as Baeok??? the man she paid off when he expected to spend the night with her. Is that what she meant, that she'd pay him to NOT sleep with her? I totally missed that. I saw that he wasn't pleased, though, but wasn't she undressing him?

No, she turned the tables on him. She was going to be buying him for the night. Basically, he was going to be the Kisaeng. That would be a big insult to any noble but it was an even bigger insult to him since he's a royal.

And he STILL likes her??? I thought it would be "Off with her head!" by now.

Not exactly "off with her head", but he does want to "silence her for good". His aid talks him into waiting until after the contest because they both think she then will become a slave, and won't present them any more concerns.
I think the working title for this show was "Myeongwol, you wench!" ;D

I think the working title for this show was "Myeongwol, you wench!" ;D ;D Who tried to kill her? It was a serious device, not something a kisaeng could do by herself. Isn't it a crime to murder a kisaeng? Is she someone's property? It was shocking!

I thought it was Jini's classmates who tried to kill her. Remember the scene just before when they told that voice teacher that they had a plan. They are scary bitches! lol
Oh, I agree that Myeongwol's bodyguard is supercute! So strong and silent.

Isn't it a crime to murder a kisaeng? Is she someone's property? It was shocking! Well Kisaeng were of the slave class, right? So if a Kisaeng was killed, I don't think it would create much uproar as say if a nobleman was murdered. I'm guessing Booyoung, though I don't want the culprit to be her, or her "classmates".

I don't think it was Booyoung. She is too determined to beat Myeonwal in a dance contest. It was the girls who pushed her and threatened to break her leg. Remember that scene from the previous day's episode? Baekmu intervened before the girls could beat her up.
The other kisaeng are worried about losing their jobs when Myeongwal wins the contest. They decided that after they saw her practicing the knife dance. Are they really slaves? They get to earn money and have alot of freedom for slave.
BTW- The costumes are getting prettier every episode. Myeongwal especially has some very beautiful jackets. I love the patterns and colors.

Kisaeng were slaves of the government that had to perform for officials, etc. whenever asked (rather ordered).
