hello! i'm from ukfan's board....i like to look around here at times because its a pretty neat board ;D. anyway, i found this topic and since ukfan mentioned lady han not dying here's my tale: hmm....well after i saw the whole thing the first time i came up with this: Lady Han wasn't burried in a shallow grave, instead she was left lying there. some innocent doctor passes by and finds that she isn't dead she's just um...i don't know....something... ..and so he treats her back to health and she works for him to pay for the medicine and all....she doesn't know anything about Jang Geum and vice versa. Later, after Jang Geum went back to the palace, Lady Han finishes repaying her debt (it was expensive medicine!! ) and sets off for the capital. when she gets there she looks for a place to hide around for the time being. since she learned a bit of medicine here and there, she goes to work for JanG De (Jang Geum's medicine teacher) and of course its soap opera irony that this woman also taught Jang geum but they never really say anything. Lady Han hides around and then she realizes who Jang De is but she doesn't confront her. Instead she eavesdrops on them everytime Jang Geum comes by....Later at the "trial" Lady Han shows up and Lady Min faints!! (i can so imagine her doing that) and Lady Choi is like about to blow... . then Lady Han is renamed top lady......and then at the very end when the queen becomes the king's mother Lady Han becomes her assistant.....and somewhere along the line Jang Geum has to save Lady Han of an illness......cuz that would be cool!! haha... ;D have a nice day! Gosh YES. You are right! That would have been wonderful. Actually I was rather disturbed when my mother wondered aloud during Lady Han's death scene if she was really dead. After all, there was a possibility that she had only fainted.

Oh and imagine what would happen if Lady Han and Jang Duk were teaching Jang Geum together. Personality-wise...and in terms of life experiences... the two of them are really quite similar. =)

True, I hadn't thought of that. But loss seems to be what drives Jang-geum as well. But, Min Jong Ho dying as well would've burdened her and left her without the will to fight... I see.. Hmm well then, yeah, i wouldn't change anything. Except for maybe the actress that plays Jang-geum. Lee Young Ae? (?)... Well, wait, no. I wouldn't. No, i wouldnt change anything. Maybe make it longer, like a lot longer! i wouldn't say make him die but maybe marry someone else or something. JG was still be motivated: MJH is not her only motivation for living!!!!!!!

i would make sir min love guem young instead!!! in this way, all parties will stay happy. geum young will be happy so she wouldn't get jealous and turn her back at jang geum (jang geum suffer less as a result cuz for most of the plot, if you have noticed, geum young is the mastermind behind it. she's admirably smart, but in the evil way). i think for geum young's character, she will ignore everything and run away with sir min. in addition, i don't have to see hong rina tear so much and the scary stare geum young gave at jang geum. as for jang geum, she will stay as good friend with sir min. i think this must be much better for her. she will now suffer less harm when geum young(her character is actually not bad, juz tt she is partly jealous of jang geum and partly bucz of her family tt plot against her) and sir min help her. n lady choi is nothing without geum young to support her. isn't tt happy ending... finally i find someone else who thinks thats a good idea!! HOORAY! ;D

Actually, if Lady Choi had received some love in the beginning as well, she would not have been so cruel. In the beginning, she had no intentions of committing crimes until her relatives forced her to in order to train herself. This is just a repeat for Geum Young of what Lady Choi had to do as well. I guess that it is not their fault. Geum Young and Min are both successful and inteligent, but Geum Young is more of an introvert while still being extremely competitve, while JG is always curious and inquisitive and her talent is her perseverance. This trait of her character attracts Min in my opinion, whereas Geum Young slowly gives up her passion for Min.... but then again... it would have been "interesting" to see what would happen if Min liked Geum Young back.. woah. Then would he have helped her by dirtying his hands in order to obtain more power? It doesn't really sound like his character, and I don't think I would have liked him in the drama. Maybe he could have convinced Geum Young out of it and made her a better and honest person.

If Sir Min had loved Geum Young, he wouldn't have 'helped' her by dirtying his hands in order to obtain more power. I am quite sure of that! He is always telling Geum Young that he hopes she will be different from the others in the Choi clan.

wow... good point. So I guess if Min had loved Geum Young, then she would have changed into a better person like he wanted her to.... but then there wouldn't be much conflict, I don't think... :/

So I guess if Min had loved Geum Young, then she would have changed into a better person like he wanted her to.... but then there wouldn't be much conflict, I don't think... :/ You are right, there wouldn't be as much as a conflict. To me, the love issue between Sir Min and Geum Young in DJG plays two purposes. 1) To highlight Geum Young's tragedy, to remind us that she is not just an evil character, but a character with feelings, with a need for love. It gives us a deeper insight into Geum Young's character. It helps us sympathise. 2) To highlight Geum Young's weaknesses, and how she never comprehended the true meaning of love. Geum Young was possessive, she wanted Sir Min for herself, and she lashed out at Lady Han and Jang Geum when she became jealous. Not having Sir Min's romantic love did not give her the excuse to hurt others. She should have been strong, should have been an enbodiment of love like JG was even in her darkest moments. But again, we must remember that Geum Young may not have been able to understand true love precisely because no one has ever truly shown her love in her lifetime. Her family used her. She shared a pure friendship with JG, but probably did not see that as a form of love.
