Looking for some input as to whether anyone would like a discussion for a daily or short modern drama for the summer, or should I hold off for a month or so. I want to gauge interest before I go digging around.
We're set for an historical with ajk, probably starting a few weeks after QSD ends. What do y'all think, will you have time for another?

I am all up for another daily or modern drama for the summer, it is tons more fun to watch when I can read posts about what others think of the characters and actions. No pressure though, if you wanted to take some time off that would be ok, too

I'm trying to find something that's just funny, I don't know if I can stand any more melodrama at this point.
My first nominee is Dating Agency Cyrano
20 episodes. It reminds me of Musical, which I really liked. On the "minus" side, it started in April 2013 and only four episodes are posted to DF so far. I expect they'll keep posting apace, but you never know with those guys.
I am looking for honest reactions here, so "that looks like it sucks and here's why" is a good response if it's what you really think. EDIT: BTW, the male star of Cyrano is Lee Jong-hyuk, who was one of the leads in A Gentleman's Dignity, which is exactly kind of drama I'm looking for. In fact, I'd love to do that one, but I think it's been shot down before.

BTW, if you have reasons for not wanting to watch a comedy, please state those as well.
I'm looking for a post from nuwildcats here....lol...

Dating Agency Cyrano began airing on May 27 on tvN and will be 16 episodes. Episodes are about 45 mins long. I'm on the fence on this one. I don't usually like Korean romantic comedies but I did like tvN's Queen In Hyun's Man. The folks at DramaBeans seem to like it. If this is the series you really want to mod, I'll watch with an open mind.
If your only audience is going to be bird11 and I, I'd choose something other than AGD. Good series but we both already watched it.

I tried to do a little searching tonight to try and help pick another one to watch-- what about Shark? I would not mind at all watching Dating Agency Cyrano since it has one of the actors from AGD, I really liked that drama and it might be good to see him in another drama..... Open to almost anything....

Shark is a melodrama. Bo wants to go with something lighter.

Since I can't seem to successfully direct nuwildcats to this thread (LOL), I'm posting what she (right? she?) sent me in a PM as a suggestion: Birth of the Rich, with familiar faces to all (Lee Si Young picked up KBS newcomer actress award for her comic role.)
From Wiki, "Choi Suk Bong, who believes that he is actually the son of a rich father and heir to a chaebol group. He meets Lee Shin Mi, who is actually a chaebol heir but acts nothing like one, with her scrimping and frugal ways. Although they get off to a rocky start, with her help, he struggles towards his goal of attaining wealth."
Watched last summer while my poor foot recuperated and it's a perfect summer watch! - Mission Impossible music closing out each ep along with a new twist in the mystery of "which one of these men is my father"...a fresh, smart, snappy production! Ep endings bring viewers back to ferret out "which one is my father." If I knew how to do it, I'd put up a link to the trailer. So very fun and well-produced storyline. Now I'm off to see if I can remedy this miscommunication!

Okay, Bo, (yes, I'm a girl) the repairman just left here and I can post now. "Birth of the Rich" (aired on KBS fall 2010) and viewed on DramaFever last summer was the perfect antidote to having my wings clipped while my foot healed and A/C blew full throttle.
This fast-paced, light comic-mystery stars many familiar faces. Three billionaires maintain a secret regarding a rare metal which involves Choi Suk Bong (Ji Hyun Woo), the son of a single mom. He's been searching his whole life for his unknown chaebol birth father. Each chaebol has a same-age offspring who Suk Bong meets and develops different relationships with in his search. It develops they each have a personal reason for learning his father's identity, but like Suk Bong, are being thwarted and misdirected by their chaebol-fathers from learning the truth.
Twists and turns abound (kind of like in the movie Charade and the Mission Impossible-type score and snappy film shots closing out each episode propel viewers forward onto the next episode. A fresh, non-traditional, smart/clever kdrama. So perfect for a warm summer night's entertainment. Enjoyed it thoroughly and wouldn't mind in the least watching again - and again. Great fun, too, to watch in a group, like with your neighbors or friends.
Holding the comic thread strong throughout are the bookends of 2 characters: Lee Si Young, KBS' 2010 newcomer actress award winner, as the comic nutjob/heir apparent, Boo Tae Hee; and actor Sung Ji Roo, as the mysterious Woo Byung Do who insinuates himself into Suk Bong's life, and who knows, may be yet another chaelbol?

NWC, that does sound good to me, a goofy mystery is as good as a goofy comedy to me. Anyone else? I'm not closing voting yet, but you can check it out here: BoR on DFDF has all 20 eps, so that's one up on Cyrano. And I did like Lee Si-young in Man of Equator (as the only sane person in existence). I haven't had a chance to look at Shark (on DF), but I must admit I'm a little prejudiced against it because it features Crazy Chicken Man...

I would be happy watching either one. I would only lean towards Cyrano because Lee Jong Hyuk was in A Gentleman's Dignity and it might be good to see him in something else....but there is always next time

So, our choices are Birth of the Rich, Dating Agency Cyrano and Shark? Or are we still taking suggestions?
