I'd like to hold off for a week in choosing, I'm not going to start the forum until the last week in June (and there's a chance I'll start after July 4 because holidays aren't good_. So if anyone else thinks they'll watch, or has an opinion, I'm listening. Oh, if you say to yourself, "Well, if she does THAT one, I'm not going to watch that crud..." then PLEASE SAY THAT because it figures in for me.

From the current choices, I'd go with Cyrano. Although I'd watch Heartless City or Birth Secret over Cyrano. Neither is a romantic comedy. The 2 dramas that interest me the most (Two Weeks & The Master's Sun) don't start until August so I don't have any other suggestions.

I would watch Birth of the Rich over Cyrano I think, but both look light enough for summer viewing.

I count one vote for Cyrano (Knov1) and one for Birth of the Rich (dreamie). I'm 50/50 right now, I could go with either one.
nuwildcats: Although you advocate for BoR, would you say you would watch (and discuss) if we did that one? What if we did Cyrano? Please advise.
Bird11: I'm not really clear on where you fall, but you seem to be "leaning" toward Cyrano? What if we watched BoR? Please (also) advise.
I expect to have a final decision by Friday.

I will watch whatever is chosen-- I was leaning towards Cyrano only because of the actor that was in AGD- thought it would be fun to see him in something else.

I expect to have a final decision by Friday. Been spending 18 hour days gone in Barrington so sorry haven't been able to post. Cyrano is okay with me. Since summer is my busiest time of the year, at best I'd only be a voyeur in a discussion board on it. Just don't have the energy or time to deconstruct a newly-viewed kdrama. Shark is an emphatic no. Avenging something or other is a mainstay of contemporary kdramas but 'avenging my loved ones' death is just too difficult to go through any time of the year, let alone, summer. Hasn't this already been done...a lot? Queen of the Game (SBS, 2006) was rich and deeply satisfying, not to mention, softened by its love story, so much for me, that I willingly plunked down about $83 for my own copy. But after that experience, I won't be watching any 'avenging the death of...' any time in the foreseeable future. I'd have no problem re-viewing BoR and participating fully in its forum. It's something I'd like to see again, esp. during summer, and the energy needed to participate with enthusiasm would be drastically cut. Bottom line, I vote for BoR but this should really be about what most members are willing to watch, so I'm good with Cyrano, if that's what most will watch. Btw: Did you ever get an answer on pinging our email Inbox when we opt-in to receive CKDF responses? Since the squeaky wheel gets the grease, anything needing a response in my email's Inbox always focuses my attention on it.

One plus for Cyrano is the cameo appearances. Even if you're not familiar with the main cast, you're likely to spot an actor you do know. Ji Jin Hee (DJG, Dong Yi), Choi Won Young (QSD, Hundred Year Inheritance), Lee Yoon Ji (Great Seer, King 2 Hearts), Jung Yoo Mi (Queen of the Office), Gong Yoo (Big, Coffee Prince) and Lee Kwang Soo (Nice Guy, Dong Yi) are just some of the actors that appear in it.

Time constraints forced me to morph the filmographies of BoR's cast into the pithy "lots of familiar faces." But they sure have shown up in a lot of kdramas I've seen over the years, and I'm still a newcomer to the genre.
BoR's chaebol dads: Yoon Joo Sang (IRIS & IRIS II, Chosun Police, Accidental Couple, Women of the Sun) Kim Eung-Soo (Queen of the Office, Bridal Mask, Moon that Embraces the Sun, Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Great King Sejong) Park Yeong Jin (Queen In-soo, Great King Sejong, Yi San, Lovers in Paris)
Hopeful chaebol heir: -- Ji Hyeon-woo (Queen In-hyun's Man, A Thousand Kisses)
Chaebol heirs: Lee Bo-Yeong (Men of the Equator, Queen of the Game)-- and her personal asst: Shin Da-eun (Rascal Sons, Lights & Shadows) Nam Goong-Nam (Can You Hear My Heart, One Fine Day, Drama City) Lee Si Yeung (2010 winner for her role; Descendants of Hong Gil Dong, Hateful but Once Again, Boys Over Flowers)
Annoying parasite/con artist?/possible chaebol: Seong Ji-roo (Lights & Shadows, Warrior Baek Dong-soo, Chosun Police)
Batty valet manager/butler: Park Cheol Min (Warrior Baek Dong-Soo, 2010's Cyrano Agency)
OCD Hotel Corp manager: Lee Geon (Queen of the Office, Powerful Opponents, Windy City)
Double-dealing Hotel Corp employee: Kim Dong-gyoon (A Gentleman's Dignity, Lights & Shadows, Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Secret Garden, You Are My Destiny, On Air)
Familiar mom figure: Kim Mi Kyeong (Lights & Shadows, Faith, Secret Garden, and tons more in between in her acting credits)
Based on all the citations for Man of the Equator here and hancinema's info, I've now added it to my "must see" kdrama list.

LOL name droppers.
It's Knov1 for Cyrano, Bird11 "leaning" to Cyrano and Dreamie for Birth of the Rich, with nuwildcats for BoR mostly because she won't have time to watch Cyrano with us
Dang. 2 for 2. I guess it's on me. I'll get back to you.

Hopeful chaebol heir: -- Ji Hyeon-woo ( Queen In-hyun's Man, A Thousand Kisses) Queen In Hyun's Man is one of the few romantic comedies I would recommend to others.

Dang for the third part. QIHM is not on DramaFever yet, that DOES sound cute and just what I'd like to see.
I was hoping to hear from soapygrams, but it looks like she's not weighing in.
I am going to do this. This week, I am going to watch the first episode of both dramas (BoR and Cyrano) and choose one. I'm really really sorry, I'm just so indecisive, and I didn't have a chance to do it this weekend due to personal matters.
You'll know by Friday 6/28, or hopefully before then. I'll open up the forum over the weekend and we'll start next week, and if nobody has any objections, I'm going to do this on Wednesdays rather than Tuesdays. I know that this means the first episode will begin on July 3 (day before Indp Day), but you'll have a whole week to check it out after that.
Again, if soapy (or anyone else who has not--or has--previously chimed in) has comments or preferences, I'm still listening.
moi (Bo)

PS. I've watched half of Ep. 1 of Cyrano, and 3 minutes of BoR, and I gotta say I think BoR is the clear winner. But I'll give them both a fair shake and get back to you.
I mean, how can I stand another drama in which Ji Jin-hee is classified as an F when he's CLEARLY an A+? D'ang.
EDIT: Here I go waffling again. I've finished Cyrano Ep.1, and I have to say it's EXACTLY the kind of crazy I'd like to see. BoR, on more viewing, is hilarious in that He's Beautiful vein, which I LOVE, but which also can be kind of trying to most people. But I'll finish watching BoR Ep.1 tonight and give you my final decision tomorrow.

I'll watch both BoR and Cyrano (or at least see if I want to keep watching Cyrano), but most likely won't be chiming in on Cyrano.
