Okay, guys, we DO have written guidelines on photo size, and you're pretty well trouncing all over them. They are here: rules on posting imagesI know not much is going on around here right now, and I'm inclined to let you all slide, but that wouldn't be fair to all the others who do follow the rule and have done so in the past. BTW, this thread appears at the top of every forum, you probably missed it due to constantly seeing it. Thanks for understanding me. Bo

YI SAN had the same type comic characters but even though it would grate on the nerves after about 30 eps it still became one of if not my fave Joseon Dynasty Drama .

Episode 24 - So why is it.......
that whenever a woman decides to run away, she always has to take along her luggage, which screams "I'm running away and never coming back?" Remember how Jumong's mother and wife #1 decided that the best way to sneak out of the palace was to do it at night when everything was locked up? They had luggage with them too...
A smart girl like Dong Yi should have just gone strolling along like she was going about her everyday business. Sheesh.

Other actresses who also played Dong Yi in the past other than Kyun Miri. Can anyone find images of her during that time? # 견미리 - 1988년 MBC 드라마 《조선왕조 오백년 인현왕후》 # 남주희 - 1995년 SBS 드라마 《장희빈》 Nam Ju-hui - 1995 SBS Drama Jang Hui-bin # 박예진 - 2003년 KBS 드라마 《장희빈》 Park Ye-jin - 2003 KBS Drama Jang Hui-bin (Chulin in Dae Jo Yeong and Chunmyeong in QSD) Jang Hui-bin is apparently a very popular figure in Korean historicals. Jang Hui-bin (1961 film) Yohwa Jang Hui-bin (1968 film) Jang Hui-bin (1971 MBC Drama) 여인열전/Yeo-in Yeol-jeon (1982 MBC Drama episode 1) 500 Years of Joseon Dynasty-Queen Inhyeon (1988 MBC Drama)=>the same director of Dong Yi Shadows of the Palace (2007 movie) and also those Jang Hui-bin dramas by SBS and KBS. I've never seen these dramas, but are there fan veterans who have? Foreshadowing poster This girl is going to lose her smile soon. OST also seems to be out, or at least will soon be out. The whole Jang Hul-Bin /Hyobin vs Queen Inhyeon storyline has been a staple of K Film /Drama since the 1950's along with Yonsan , As such Lady Jang remains the ultimate Joseon Dynasty Femme Fatale ,even though the Dynasty cranked out far more evil women than Lady Jang for some reason it is her that resonates with writers and film makers .
She was im pretty sure the subject of the 2001 /2 SBS Drama ''Ladies Of The Palace "which by audience ratings ranks as the most watched K Historical ever (yes even more than Dae Jang Geum ,Wang Guhn and Aow ).
Another one is Kwanghae's Notorious Concubine Kim Gae Hee who was played by Lee Young Ae in the 1995 Drama West Palace .
Shadows Of The Palace is a great film ,well worth searching for a copy .

Dang, she is one popular lady. Maybe she's more popular because her story is just more well known. I take it most portrayals of Hui-bin is that of a spiteful person. Lee Young-ae plays an evil concubine? Dang, she's that good an actress. Haven't seen her outside of Dae Jang Geum This it? wiki.d-addicts.com/static/images/8/86/West_Palace.jpgActually, Ladies of the Palace focuses on the women during Jungjong (the king in Dae Jang Geum) to Injong's reign, particularly the power struggle featuring Queen Munjeong and Jung Nan Jung, her sister-in-law. Jang Hui-bin isn't in it. Dramas that have women out to kill each other....I'm reminded of how scary women can be...do we see these in American dramas? Back on the Dong Yi topic.. *#@#*@*#*&!!!! I WANNA SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! THE KING AND DONG YI GONNA REUNITE! But can this pairing match with San/Song-yeon? I don't know...we'll have to see the entire series first. Sukjong/Dong Yi interaction makes me laugh though. I feel pity for Chunsu though (not the Chunsu in IYSS. Chunsu is a common Korean male name, isn't it). In historicals, the strongest rival in love triangles is always the king. Speaking of which, I wonder if the matter regarding her family's unjust death will be solved soon. Hey, she is Choi Suk-bin, not Chun Suk-bin Can't wait to see Jang drink poison herself (irony) when she gets caught. The best part is when they give a death rattle or cough blood when it comes to death by poison. I heard somewhere that DOng Yi is based off a novel. Is this true? Are Alot of historical dramas are based off of novels?

Can't wait to see Jang drink poison herself (irony) when she gets caught. The best part is when they give a death rattle or cough blood when it comes to death by poison. Wow ,there may be a while to go yet before getting there:- Queen Inhyeon has to be reinstated.Jang has to be demoted.Queen Inhyeon has to fall ill.Dong Yi has to found by the King, praying sincerely for Queen Inhyeon's recovery. He has to 'marry' Dong Yi.Then after lots of 'battles' between Dong Yi's faction and Gangstress Jang, the cruel Jang and family has to be caught happily rejoicing Queen Inhyeon's eventual death/near death by the King. Then only do the 'executions' begin....this will take 20+ episodes? Anyway,I,for one,am enjoying this drama.

There was a folktale saying that, Sukjong, dreamed of Queen Inhyeon in a sobok drenched with blood. Sukjong asked Inhyeon of how she died, then she pointed in to the direction of Jang Hui-bin's chambers (while saying nothing). Sukjong awoke then went into Jang's chambers. While approaching, he heard music & sounds of laughter. Eavesdropping, he saw Jang Hui-bin with Shamanist priestesses in her chambers, praying for the Queen's death, while striking a figurine with arrows. THe book, The Confucian Kingship in Korea: Yŏngjo and the Politics of Sagacity, however, says that Choi Suk-bin informed Sukjong of Hui-bin's practice of black magic that supposedly killed Inhyeon. Not sure about the book's reliability, but it seems most likely that they're going to go with DOng Yi exposing Jang (of course!) though will they omit the voodoo part or not? Probably allusions to it.
Anyone feel sorry for Queen Inhyeon? I feel sorry for this woman. I mean, she's a good person who has done no wrong and look at what these creatures did to her! The actress who plays her does a good job at making her look pitiful, though it may be the eyes (possibly one of those actresses who underwent plastic surgery, because her eyes are too big to be Asian). The circumstances regarding her demotion is different from the drama as well. What they have in common though, is regarding the title of Crown Prince to Jang's son. The Western faction opposed, Sukjong got angry at the opposition, and many were killed as a result, and Inhyeon was exiled.

Inhyeon is also in one of the Hometown Legends series that aired over the last two years (as a ghost maybe ,don't know never saw it ). "West Palace" i think is the drama that made Lee Young Ae a Star in korea . ,Kim Gae Hee actually was a concubine of both Kwanghae and his father which is pretty much taboo ,anyway she pretty much murders her way to the top and once Kwanghae becomes King she eliminates his rivals before the pair fall from grace ,he to exile she beheaded ,Never saw West Palace but the story of Lady kim was also in the 03 drama "Kings Woman "
While we are on the subject of Joseon Dynasty bad girls lets not forget Jang Nok Su.
Back to Dong Yi ,i heard this may get extended beyond its initial 50 eps .

Oh no ... flying martial men already in the first ep! Lol.
Yeongjo huh. He was a great king but I have to say he had failings (never mind me, I was reading Lady H's memoirs)

Does anyone happen to know, in this hotbed of K-drama hotheads (LOL), what era the 1999 drama "The King and the Queen" covers? I found some info that says Prince Yunsan appears in it, but nothing else. I guess I want to know which king and which queen the title references.
I wish I could find it to watch, but I can barely find any info on it at all, I guess it's too old.
