I'm sorry, I must have posted this elsewhere. Try Drama Fever, too--excellent tracking system (you have to sign up but it's free), good subtitles. www.dramafever.com/drama/230/Bo

Episode 18 - GASP! Consort Huh sure knows how to take a lemon and make lemonade. At least Dong Yi isn't in the dog house for this one - yet.

Mugwump, since we're presumably watching on different sources, could you please add "spoiler space" for your posts about specific shows? It's too easy to read the next line, so for instance, your previous post could look like this:
EPISODE 18 - GASP! * * * * * ** * ** * ** * * SPOILER SPACE
Consort Huh.... (etc.)
Thanks! (You don't need the actual **** I just happen to use them, the empty lines are the important part.)

Of course. There's probably a rule for this somewhere that I never read. I will try to constrain my enthusiasm.

Hi, I'm a new member! As usual, the man who gave us Dae Jang Geum and Yi San gives us a delicious piece of art. Can't wait to see more, especially when Jang Hui-bin and Choi Suk-bin come in conflict. This seems to be a common trope: people who helped each other eventually become bitter enemies. In IYSS, Yi Soon Shin and Won Gyun were originally friends, but ultimately became rivals (fictional of course); Geum Young and Jang Geum were friends, and things could have gone differently. Dong Yi and Ok-jung are friendly with each other, but we all know how that goes in the end. I'm not sure if most know this, but the guy directing this, once made a drama starring the same characters in the same time period, called "Queen Inhyeon", part of the "500 Years of Joseon Dynasty" series. Never saw it though. Kyun Mi Ri was Dong Yi. I have difficulty imagining this in my head I'm sorry, I must have posted this elsewhere. Try Drama Fever, too--excellent tracking system (you have to sign up but it's free), good subtitles. www.dramafever.com/drama/230/Bo Dramafever is choppy for me.

It's just when we have a big thread for one show, people watching all at their own pace, we like to keep the suspense for those who are "behind." It's an unspoken, member-dictated rule, and we've always had it. Some boards don't care about spoilers, but our members always have. Go figure. Bo

Hi, I'm a new member!.... Dramafever is choppy for me. LOL, d-f, it makes me wonder why you took that name, I was beginning to wonder if you actually were someone from their website. Some days it's a little choppy for me, too. They are streaming the video (it's not downloaded to your computer), so you need a fairly fast connection. Occasionally, if their site has too many people watching at the same time, they get clogged up, and if your computer is doing other work, it can slow things, too. I try it different times of day, and most of the time, I'm in luck. I hope you've tried it a few times, just to see if you can get it to work, because they have lots of stuff. Bo

I just am not sure why you have trouble imagining Kyun Mi-ri in the role. I know she's had a lot of bad-lady roles lately, but before she did those she did a lot of modern dramas where she displayed a great range of ability. Even in Dae Jang-geum, she evolved from an innocent sweet person into a monster in a perfectly believable way. I think she can play anything or anyone. I'd like to see her take a crack at Hamlet. LOL.

Well, I think I was thinking appearance wise, since I'm just used to Han Hyo-joo in the role. Which is why I have a hard time imagining Kyun Miri, since i was stuck in the present. Tried finding Kyun miri as Choi Suk-bin, nothing so far on google. Episodes 21 and 22 are looking good. Can't wait to see what happens next. And people have been making a fuss over a fire incident or something. Are they going to reduce Dong Yi to Inhyeon's water maid in the future? Well, considering the writer takes alot of liberties, you never know what could happen. Found some funny images.... First in Yi San, Daesu hits the Crown Prince. In Dong Yi, she steps on the king's back. And when they find out out who they really are, The king says something about the pig's ear being eaten by Jang Ok-jung, and that he should bring Dong Yi to investigate Big Nose and Mouse Man (my nickname for those two) ^ the king's expression is like," Oh no, what is up with this child again?" then Jang Heebin is like "Again?!!!!!", and Dong Yi is like " gotta find the evidence.....gotta find the evidence"

Awwwwwwwwww, cute.
Does anyone know if there really was a department of Lady Inspectors in this era? Or is this a fiction so we can have CSI Chosun every week? As has been pointed out above, we already seem to be straying from real history.

Whenever I think about the relationship between Dong Yi and King Sukjong, I can't help try compare it to Jeongjo and Song-yeon in Yi San. I'm probably doing this since its the same director and writer, but the major similarity is that the girl always helps the king feel at peace and feel like a person, not a monarch. And the obvious-the girl becomes the concubine. I'm expecting it to end sadly, because the real Choi Suk-bin (Dong Yi) dies at age 48. When Song Yeon died, I had difficulty breathing. I'm probably gonna have difficulty breathing when the show ends. mugwumpThere is a Department of Internal Affairs, a enforcement bureau that governs & investigates incidents and plausible suspicions of lawbreaking & professional misconduct attributed to staff of the palace within the different systems of palace administration. They are the policing bureau within the palace. I'm not sure if it were court ladies doing the investigating though. There's a Korean movie that shows how vicious this court ladies are in the Internal Bureau of Investigation: “Shadow in the palace”, or Gungnyeo. I haven't seen it. Interestingly, Jang Hee-bin is also in it.
