This thread is for our Philadelphia-area members who visit us here and are watching GKS on their local station WYBE. There was an active Philadelphia thread on the DJY board, so this one will serve the same purpose for GKS.
Everyone else, please keep in mind that the WYBE airing of GKS is running more than thirty episodes behind the Chicago WOCH airing. So let’s observe a special rule for this thread only: NO PHILADELPHIA SPOILERS. This is the Chicago forum, of course, and everything else on this board is absolutely Chicago-schedule-based. But we certainly have room for one thread to accommodate our Philadelphia friends.
Even if they do root for the Flyers!

The subtitles fly by quickly!! The queen, a *teensy-bit* icy, looks like big trouble. Loved the ending; thought the young prince was being rescued. Ha!

The Queen probably has good reason to be "icy". She mentioned that the King loves one of his concubines, I'm sure she feels slighted.

I watched the first episode tonight and part of the second. Did someone say that GKS starts slow? From my vantage point the storyline began with a splash and hasn't let up.
Quick take on familiar faces:
-The king is the same actor who played Goongyae in EWG and the Baron in Seoul 1945.
-Kim Gap Soo (the minister championing the search) is the actor who played Choi Chung Hon in AOW and Jongkhan in EWG.
-Minister of military is the same actor who played Cho Won Jung in AOW and a lieutenant in DJY (character name escapes me).
-The tough guard is the same actor who played Brue (Archfiend's voluntarily mute sidekick) in AOW.
-The lead fighter of the three assassin's is the same actor who played the Archfiend's eldest son in AOW.
-I recognized some others but don't know them off the top.
Exciting stuff!

Can't get a grip on the story yet. Too many characters too soon, too many names. It looks like fun though. I've done some reading up on Sejong and I'm looking forward to keeping up.

I think some of these actors make a career out of playing one minister after another.
The doctor who performed the autopsy on the murdered guard was one of the Tang Empress' ministers in DJY.
Minister Shim was the Baekje general who was captured and became a Tang general in DJY, also think he was in YSS, but can't remember who.
Isn't the stooped-over head attendant the same actor who played the ever-grovelling sucking-up Monkey-man in AOW?
The one Min brother was the unfortunate Attendent Cho in AOW, who was forever making painful faces because of the behavior of Emperor Myongjong.
The young attendent who seems to know about the Prince's disappearance played the bratty magistrate's son who was so mean to YSS in those early episodes.
I think the Granny character was one of the mothers in Seoul 1945.
I'm pretty sure the crown prince is the same actor who played the crown prince near the end of YSS.
At least the Shin Hong/Chung Su/Emperor Uijong actor hasn't shown up yet. Hope he never does.

Ep 3 It's a strange concept to me that the royal children lead such cloistered lives. Their world seems to be cruel, in that they're pawns for the political games played by the ministers and others and, one step out of line and everyone talks about killing them. The poor prince Choongnyeong. What an awful way to lose his childhood innocense.

OK, tinkerbell, you're taking me back too far. Help me out here. Are you SURE King Taejong is the same guy who played Goongyae in EWG? Wasn't he the eye patch king? Has he changed that much? Unbelieveable!! I would never have guessed.
