Thanks for the information about episodes being on Netflix-- I'll have to keep that in mind when I have nothing else to watch. (With all the heavy wet snow we have been having the past seasons, I finally bought a snow blower two years ago.I like using the snow blower, but will admit those spinning blades scare the crap out of me!)

The ironic thing about Netflix having them is that Netflix recently bought the London studio where they film the series--and then promptly kicked them out of it. The BBC had to scramble to find a lot of money to move the production somewhere else, and if they hadn't gotten it done the series probably would have been cancelled. If I were the BBC I'd yank the episodes and tell Netflix to go to the hot place.
But yeah they're available to watch.
Good luck with your snowblower. See I'm just the opposite, I love shoveling. Great exercise and especially at night when it's dark and quiet, very relaxing. But it does help to have a blower, no question, Chicago does get clobbered sometimes. And those sadistic plows that take all the street snow and push it into rock-hard mountains on the driveways...you wonder if they're getting kickbacks from the snowblower companies!

Netflix have a weird relationship with the BBC. It goes back to the Last Kingdom when they were both co-producers . BBC pulled out from season 2 leaving Netflix to continue . Most of BBC's content goes to Britbox,AMC,Masterpiece and Amazon. Netflix only gets Midwife and i believe they will lose that when the lease is up.
Midwife reruns are the most popular program as far as cheering people up i read the other day .
Every time i complain about the cold, wet and damp here i think of you folks in Chicago and count my blessings.

Finally had a chance to sit down and watch the Christmas episode. Beautifully done, as expected.
Bird this one definitely had more material about the regular characters themselves than usual, so it would be a little tougher for a new viewer to pick up on some things. Usually it's much more about the community around them and how they serve it. It also was lighter than a typical episode. Some of them get into really heavy, difficult, painful subjects. This one had one of them in particular but it wasn't quite as heavy. Had had some genuinely funny moments in it too. Most episodes do but this one had a generous share of them.
Now we wait for season 11. It's already been announced--will start March 20 on PBS and will stream concurrently with each episode's premiere on PBS. Back to eight episodes this season.
p.s. I missed the anniversary show! By the time I got to it PBS had pulled it off the website. Hopefully it pops up again soon someplace, maybe if they re-air season 10 right before season 11 starts like they've done in the past.

Yeah we always have to wait a couple of extra months.
I wasn't sure where they were going with that whole angle...could have gotten very dicey for Dr. Turner if they started bringing him all of their mob casualties. He could certainly make an interesting addition if they don't overdo it. It would be nice to see some people show up more than once--certainly some of the child-bearing moms would be coming back with more births.

I've deliberately avoided reading anything about it. Hate them spoilers.
March 20, PBS and streaming.

To be fair every season is not to be missed because the show is that good . Unfortunately for myself I came across some headlines while reading the sports section of the daily’s . Anyway my lips are sealed .

Some good news . We are now in 1967 in the series and creator/ screenwriter Heidi Thomas plans to end the series in the Mid 70’s . So quite a while left yet .

Yeah it can be hard to avoid... If the show happens to work its way into your news feed on your phone, you can stumble on spoilers without even trying to read about the show.

Deservedly it’s one of THE biggest tv shows/ series in the UK . The love and reverence for it is quite amazing but not surprising .
Some trivia Stephen Mc Gann who plays the doctor is the real life partner of Heidi Thomas the creator/ screenwriter .
Helen George who plays Trixie was pregnant during filming of the upcoming season . They had to shoot her from certain angles .

"Do you get a better class of mite if you pay for it?" Oh I like her, she's gonna be a terrific character. Sister Evangelina was always such a straight shooter and they haven't really had anybody like that since she passed. I still miss her.
Solid first two episodes, strong start as usual.
p.s. And am I the only one who didn't know what a Dip Dab is? Had never heard of the things. Apparently you can still buy them today.
