Yes MTR that's exactly right. It was towards the end of the series and they did suggest very clearly (but not too explicitly) that the crown princess was having an affair with another woman. I don't remember it being as big a deal to the story as Mokjong/IE but they did present it without ducking the issue or making excuses for anyone.

Upcoming 2021 historical SBS Joseon Exorcist(March 2021) Director : Shin Gyeongsu(SBS Deep Rooted Tree, SBS Six Flying Dragons, SBS Green Bean Flower) Writer : Park Gyeok(tvN Queen Cheorin) Time period : King Taejong of Joseon Dynasty Synopsis : Zombie Acopalypse in Joseon Jang Dongyun(Jeon Nokdu in KBS Tale of Nokdu) has been cast as Prince Chungnyeong(later King Sejong) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sejong_the_GreatGam Wuseong(King Geunchogo in KBS King Geunchogo) has been cast as King Taejong en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taejong_of_JoseonTeaser Looks like it will be a zombie drama and will involve the Pope after all judging by the cross in the teaser. Christianity and contact with Europeans in early 15th century Korea lol. I know it's a fantasy drama, but these writers man, they just never fail to surprise me with their ideas lol KBS River Where The Moon Rises(2021) Director : Yun Sangho(SBS Saimdang: Memoir of Colors) Writer : Han Jihun(MBC Dr. Jin) Time period : King Pyeongwon of Goguryeo (Three Kingdom Period) Synopsis : Love Story between Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal Kim Sohyeon(Dong Dongju in KBS Tale of Nokdu) has been cast as Princess Pyeonggang, the daughter of King Pyeongwon Ji Su(Wang Jeong in SBS Moon Lovers) has been cast as On Dal en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_DalKang Haneul(Wang Uk in SBS Moon Lovers) has been cast as On Hyeop, the father of On Dal(during On Dal's childhood as Kang is only 3 years older than Ji Su) * The title "River Where The Moon Rises" is a play on names of main characters. On Dal's "Dal" means Moon and Pyeonggang's "gang" means River in modern Korean. (Actual meaning of their names in Chinese character are different) Teaser Don't think I want to watch any of them, especially the Kingdom ripoff.

Yeah some of the images in that teaser look like a lot of people tried very hard to copy Kingdom as exactly as possible. That's embarrassing, shame on them.
Wasn't there some talk several years ago about a legitimate historical about On Dal? Well either way this clearly ain't it. Blecch.
But thanks for the info as usual, much appreciated. I'll sit down soon and add the 2020 info to the big drama timeline.

MBN Stealing Destiny(2021) Director : Kwon Seokjang(first historical setting drama) Writer : Kim Jisu(first historical setting drama) Time period : King Gwanghae of Joseon Dynasty Synopsis : Main character kidnaps a princess by mistake Jeong Ilwoo(King Youngjo in SBS Haechi) has been cast as Bawoo, main character(fictional) who kidnaps Princess Sugyeong by mistake This Princess Sugyeong could be a fictional princess, but because the article specifically states that the drama takes place during King Gwanghae's reign, she could be the daughter of King Gwanghae whose name is not written in historical record. Actress playing her role hadn't been announced yet. Kwon Yuri(from girl idol group Girl's Generation) has been cast as Princess Sugyeong Kim Taewoo(King Seonjo in KBS Jingbirok) has been cast as King Gwanghae en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwanghaegun_of_JoseonHe played the father in Jingbirok and is now playing the son lol

Kim Go Eun has been cast in the upcoming series Yumi's Cells. The series is about a woman named Yumi and told from the perspective of the cells that control her emotions. It's based on a comic. If you've watched Pixar's Inside Out, it's a similar concept. Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Seung Won have been cast in That Night. It's a remake of the BBC series Criminal Justice. Kwon Yuri(from girl idol group Girl's Generation) has been cast as Princess Sugyeong Kim Taewoo(King Seonjo in KBS Jingbirok) has been cast as King Gwanghae en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwanghaegun_of_JoseonHe played the father in Jingbirok and is now playing the son lol Apparently the practice of kidnapping widows for remarriage was actually a thing back then. I'm surprised that they would want to romanticize that. Or maybe I shouldn't be. Probably can't be worse than Alice.

Song Hye Kyo has been cast in The Glory. It's about a woman out for revenge against the people that bullied her back in high school. It'll be written by Kim Eun Sook. She's the Stephenie Meyer of Kdramas.

I hope this is a good drama -- this actress was really good in one of my all-time favorite drama "That Winter, the Wind Blows" and I would really like to see her in something new.....

Just inserting a marker here--I've gathered all of the information up to this point for the historical drama timeline, as of early 2021. Here's what I've compiled to add to the timeline for 2020, along with available information for 2021 so far. 2020 was a pretty flimsy year, not much of anything even remotely historical. Which probably is a good thing considering how ridiculous most of the content is these days. If anybody sees any mistakes or omissions, please do speak up and I'll correct them before I add them to the timeline. Queen Cheorin / Mr. Queen (tvN 2020-2021, 20 episodes) ---Soul of a 2020 man gets trapped in Queen Cheorin's body (King Cheoljeong reign, 1849-1864)Wind, Clouds and Rain (KBS 1989, 50 episodes): 1860s ---Physiognomist (face reader) aids King Gojong’s rise to the throne; based on novel published in Chosun Ilbo
King Maker: The Change of Destiny / Wind and Cloud and Rain (TV Chosun 2020, 21 episodes): 1860s ---Remake of 1989 KBS drama; main character is a fortune-teller (fictional character)
Royal Secret Agent (KBS 2020-2021, 16 episodes): later Joseon era ---Fictional comedy/detective story about investigating public corruption
incomplete information – list temporarily at end Stealing Destiny / Bossam: Steal the Fate (MBN 2021, ?? episodes): 1608-1623 ---Fictional Main character kidnaps a princess by mistake; King Gwanghae yearsThe Red Sleeve Cuff (MBC 2021, ?? episodes): 1770s-1780s ---Fusion/romance between King Jeongjo and Consort UiHong Cheongi (SBS 2021, ?? episodes): 1430s-1440s ---Fictional love triangle between Prince Anpyeong (King Sejong’s third son), Hong Cheongi (artist working for the government), and a fictional meteorologistJoseon Exorcist (SBS 2021, ?? episodes) – early 1400s ---King Taejong fighting zombies and an evil spiritYearning (KBS 2021, ?? episodes): 1455-1468 ---Love story of a princess who grows up as a cross-dressed prince under King SejoRiver Where The Moon Rises (KBS 2021, ?? episodes): late 6th century ---Love Story between Princess Pyeonggang and On DalTale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi (tvN 2021, 16 episodes): ? ---Fictional comedy/detective story about investigating public corruption

No one asked but here's what Kdramas I'm currently watching and interested in watching during 2021.
Currently watching
Mr. Queen - starring Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun. Not posting weekly about the series but will share my thoughts when it finishes airing.
Upcoming Series (Release dates could change due to Covid-19.)
Vincenzo - starring Song Joong Ki and Jeon Yeo Bin. This series replaces Mr Queen on Saturday, February 20. Not a big fan of lawyer based Kdramas but giving this a shot due to the cast.
Snowdrop - starring Jung Hae In and Kim Ji Soo (Blackpink). From the production team that did Sky Castle. Casting Jung Hae In was enough to make this a must watch for me. It's scheduled to air sometime around May/June.
Undercover - starring Han So Hee and Ahn Bo Hyun. A Netflix series about a cop that is a mole for a criminal org. Not to be confused with the JTBC series Undercover. No release date announced yet.
D.P - starring Jung Hae In, Kim Sung Kyun and Koo Kyo Hwan. It's about a team that hunts down military deserters. Like Snowdrop, they had me at Jung Hae In. Based on a comic. No release date announced yet.
The Silent Sea - starring Gong Yoo and Bae Doo Na. A team of scientists must travel to the moon. This is one of the more highly anticipated Kdramas of 2021. It'll only be 8 eps. No release date announced yet.
Ashin - starring Jeon Ji Hyun. Tells the story of Ashin from Kingdom. No release date announced yet.
Might Check out, Maybe
Cliffhanger - starring Jeon Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon. It's about park rangers. From the writer of Kingdom with some of the actors from Kingdom. It's scheduled to air in the 2nd half of 2021.
Yumi's Cells - starring Kim Go Eun. I like the concept but need more info. No release date announced yet.
The Glory - starring Song Hye Kyo. Revenge plots are all the rage these days. Love Song Hye Kyo. Don't like the writer. No release date announced yet.
