Han So Hee, Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Hee Soon, Kim Sang Ho, Lee Hak Joo and Jang Ryul have all been cast in the Netflix series Undercover. It's about a member of a criminal organization that joins the police in order to help them cover up their crimes. It's from the director of Extracurricular. I might check this out. This is a different series from JTBC's Undercover starring Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo.

Jang Ki Yong, Lee Hye Ri, Kang Han Na, Kim Do Wan and Bae In Hyuk have been cast in the tvN drama My Roommate is A Gumiho. It's based on a webtoon and will air sometime in 2021. Additional Synopsis : Main character is grossed out by the idea of being married to a man at first(as his/her soul is originally a man), but eventually falls in love with the king. First LGBT historical? (if I can call it a "historical") This helps explain the story a bit more. The previews for Mr. Queen looked funny but it was mostly just Shin Hye Sun up to crazy antics. It didn't really tell you much else about the series. Speaking of LGBT, I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of LGBT content coming out of Korea. It's mostly smaller budget productions but I don't think we're that far off from the first big network LGBT series.

Nope, no such luck. Read that one correctly. Good grief.
Please don't misunderstand, I'm all for being inclusive and making progress on these things. But why does it have to be a goofy, silly story? To me that not only doesn't help, it hurts. How about a historical that addresses an LGBT story in a serious, respectable way?
How about King Mokjong in Iron Empress. Don't remember all of the historical details but I think it was pretty well established that if he wasn't completely homosexual then he did at least have a relationship with another man at one point during his rule. IE did address this and showed the relationship, but it was entirely based on hallucinogenic drugs that Mokjong took--as in, the only way he would ever have sex with a man is if he was stoned out of his mind. A total cop-out by the writers, a gimmick to not offend viewers. Okay that was eleven years ago, whatever....How about a well-written story about Mokjong now with no cop-outs?
Telling an LGBT story with time-traveling and body-jumping, I don't see what good that does. Boo hiss.

It's not even an original story. The only difference is that the Chinese princess from the original is fictional while Korean version decided to use a real historical figure.

Lee Seo Jin, Lee Joo Young, Kim Young Chul and Moon Jung Hee have been cast in the upcoming OCN drama Times. It's about 2 people, one in 2015 & the other in 2020, that team up to prevent a president assassination. It'll air in February 2021. Nope, no such luck. Read that one correctly. Good grief. Please don't misunderstand, I'm all for being inclusive and making progress on these things. But why does it have to be a goofy, silly story? To me that not only doesn't help, it hurts. Telling an LGBT story with time-traveling and body-jumping, I don't see what good that does. Boo hiss. Hmmm... I agree with you. I don't see Mr. Queen as a sign of Korea being more progressive or LGBT friendly. It's a silly comedy. I did check out the first 2 eps. If I continue watching, I'll post a thread and give my thoughts on it.

KBS King's Affection(2021)
Director : Song Hyeonwook(first historical setting drama)
Writer : Han Heejeong(KBS Gunman in Joseon)
Time period : King Sejo of Joseon Dynasty
Synopsis : Love story of a princess who grows up as a cross-dressed prince
Park Eunbin(young Empress Heonjeong in KBS Iron Empress) has been cast as Crown Prince Lee Hwi, who is a cross-dressed girl.
In this alternate history timeline, Crown Prince(or princess) Lee Hwi's character takes over the place of King Yejong and becomes king after King Sejo, meaning Yejong doesn't exist in this timeline.
She falls in love with Jeong Misu(real existing person), the son of Princess Gyeonghae. Princess Gyeonghae was daughter of King Munjong(older brother of King Sejo)
So basically a relationship between relatives. This is possible in Goryeo or Shilla, but impossible in Neo-Confucian Joseon society. Nobody realizing the Crown Prince is actually a girl until she becomes a 'king' is also pretty much impossible.
