Choi Jae Sung as Bae Jungson. He's got that military charisma No Young Hui Kim Tongjong Still have no idea what to do with this character. DYC, do you know anything about this guy? What do you think? There was a wiki page, however (its now deleted) that says while Koryo-sa villifies him, the people of Jeju see him as a hero. I can only imagine a young actor playing him. Not sure who though Wonjong that guy who played Dae Jung Sang-Kim Banggyong t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSGCLGZji0ewJutevPqGemXCS-qELFoiMxcDsWFYhDO4guXyipm&t=1[/img]Song Il Gook as Hong Tagu Considering that he's a vengeful individual, someone with an angry face seemed appropriate. Song Il Gook's performance as the anti-hero Yeom Jang still lingers in my mind. I'm not sure why, but when thinking of Hong Tagu, Song's face pops up This is also off topic, but DYC, does Yu SOngryong's Jinbirok explain what Yi Soon SHin was like in his childhood? I have reimaginings of some historicals in mind (please don't kill me)

When Goguryeo fell ,the Dae Family wasted no time pledging their troth to Tang and were sent north where they waited until Tang became embroiled in other wars ,than they rebelled and founded Balhae ,They pretty much had no contact with Khitan.

I'd like to see the Donghak Peasent Rebellion. Then again, they may not because they already made dramas about that in the past. It would probably look better if it were in movie form though.
I also want to see something like a tragedy, regarding the fall of the Gaya confederacy and the people's hopeless attempts to try portoect from Silla. WIth good direction at actors, it will make the dramatic irony all the more gratifying
I think I figured out what to do with Kim Tongjong. I decided to have him have a father son relationship with Bae Jungson, and after the Sambyeolcho's defeat in Jindo, he carries out his father figure's will to preserve the age of warriors. I've heard that the people of Jeju regard him as a hero, so should I make him as ruthless as Jungson or just be someone who is nicer than him?
DYC, what actors would you choose for the historical figures in Sambyeolcho?

Even before the Sambyeochol rebellion began, the downfall of Koryo by the Mongols can be traced all the way back about 80 to 100 years before with the military coup by the Choes and subsequent military dictatorship. It was tragic because it was the neo-confucian officials who agitated the rebellion in the first place. But sadly, after the rebellion the resulting dictatorship caused greater disillusionment with its constant power struggles and assassinations.

Tree of Deep Roots, wasn't that the name of a drama series in the 80s? Part of MBC's 500 Years of Joseon Dynasty series?

Gyebaek is going to be heavily fictionalized, considering little to nothing is known about him other than the Battle of Hwangsanbul.
