Thanks for the info on the Lincoln movie, sageuk. My dad went right and saw it and said a lot of good things about it, too. As much as I like watching historical stuff, for some reason I'm squeamish about this one and have been resisting going. I enjoyed the John Adams miniseries a lot, but something about Lincoln, I don't know, maybe just real suspicious about the idea of him being Hollywood-ed up.
But the one thing that will get me there in the end is that the Chicago Symphony Orchestra did the music. There's no better orchestra anywhere in the world and I don't know if they've ever done a film score before. I'd pay the ticket price just to hear that. And then, the kid from 3rd Rock From the Sun (what a great series that was) plays the oldest son and I'm sort of curious about that too. So I'll break down and get there eventually.

About the Hollywood-ed up part......yyyyyyyeah I will admit you will get that from this movie, though I went kind of expecting that (it is directed by Hollywood's top director), though I personally felt it wasn't Hollywood-ed too much, as the portrayal of Lincoln felt like an actual person here rather than just an icon, a mistake many Hollywood historicals make. What exactly did you think would happen if .Sentimentality should be expected as well, since its Spielberg.
If there's ever another medium about a US president, should be during the Great Depression and FDR's New Deal programs. It would fit very well with today's economic crisis. Or LBJ's Great Society programs, which put the country in debt.

Total Recall (2012)
Kate Beckinsale made this worth watching.
The Bourne Legacy (2012)
Not a bad movie. The problem is it follows the previous Bourne movies which were all really good.

Wreck-it-Ralph was a really good movie better than I expected it.
Sky-fall: I wasn't impressed with it like Casino Royale. I actually fell asleep in the theatre. But am sure am in the minority.

House at the End of the Street (2012)
I couldn't see the face in the tree. That won't make sense unless you see the movie. Don't. It's bad.

Hello griffin Im watching Cabin In The Woods not expecting much despite the rave reviews . Yo! Never heard of that one. I finally got around to watching Girl With Dragon Tattoo. Loved both the American and Swedish versions though the former is darker and Lisbeth is smarter. ;D Looking forward to the American sequels.

I did not care for the US remake as it was pretty much a straight remake of the original .
Netflix does have the whole Swedish Trilogy with all the extra scenes ,it is the complete version in 6 episodes .
Anyone have any thoughts on DJANGO UNCHAINED ?.

Honestly, the only reason why the remake was made was so it would be "accessible to an American audience", not to mention if it was going to just replicate the original source, you might as well just watch the original anyway (think Psycho and its remake)
I've seen neither version but I see where DYC is coming from.
Movies I have seen
Les Miserables Meh.
The Hobbit Its not as good as the LOTR trilogy, though that shouldn't have been expected, but its still very good. Performances are great as is the [production. Problem with it is that some parts feel like filler, even if Jackson is incorporating elements from other Middle Earth stories. Can't wait for the next ones

Lawless (2012)
Not sure what to make of this movie. Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman are solid.
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
A pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting to like it. I thought it would be a cheesy movie with a sports hook. It starts a bit slow. Once Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) comes in, it picks up. Pat (Bradley Cooper) and Tiffany are total nut jobs. Chris Tucker is good as Danny.

Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)
I don't really have much to say so I'll just make a general comment. See Wreck-It Ralph and The Hobbit. Skip Breaking Dawn Pt 2.

Funny story in regards to Wreck it Ralph and Breaking Dawn Part 2. A friend and my sister and I were going to the movie theatre together. I wanted to watch Wreck it Ralph. They wanted to watch Breaking awn (in my friends' case to make fun of it). I tried to get them to watch Wreck-it Ralph instead, saying that they're just adding money for the slimy producers, and they shouldn't waste money on garbage, even for a guilty pleasure. THey didn't listen so I watched Wreck-it-Ralph myself. I really enjoyed it.
After the movie ended, I met up with the two. The vampire movie left a bad taste in my friend's mouth. My sister enjoyed it. I was irritated by the fact that the abomination was number one, above above Wreck-it-Ralph, Lincoln, and Skyfall.
So I decided to beat the Twilight out of my sister.
I'm kidding, I didn't beat her at all. Just berated her and my friend for not watching Wreck-it Ralph with me.

Lincoln (2012)Daniel Day-Lewis gives a great performance as President Lincoln. The movie itself was kinda boring. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013)A different take on Hansel & Gretel. It was OK. Jack Reacher (2012) Rosamund Pike is the only good thing about this movie.

A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Bad.
Jack the Giant Slayer (2013)
Thought the ending should have gone differently.
Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)
Not bad. Not great. *shrugs*
The Place Beyond the Pines (2013)
I think the less you know about this movie going in the better off you are. If you liked Crash, you'll probably like this movie.
Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
Standard action movie. One guy is an expert on everything. Everyone else behaves like idiots.
