I am no authority on Korean history, just what I have learned from watching Korean tv, but if you watch a program on Saturday night around 10:00 that is called "Beautiful Forgiveness", you will find that many parents, mainly mothers had to abandon their children for various reasons. First of all , the law in Korea, at one time, gave custody to the father after a divorce. Mothers seemed to have little rights in this matter unless the father allowed them to. Also, Cyuser is correct, Korea was a very poor country until recently. Their economic advancement in the past 20 years is amazing. Many people did have to leave their children with relatives in order to find work. If you will watch this program on Saturdays you will not feel so badly towards mothers who have abandoned their children. You will cry for them and the circumstances that created the necessity to leave their children.

Sorry .. Off topic! I lived in that environment as a kid .. I lived in middleclass but many of my classmate lived in poverty. You wouldn't believe what a little thing as lollipop can bring such a happiness. I remember when some rich kid's mother brought box of chocopie to the class because it was his birthday .. everyone got one each but some kids didn't eat it because they wanted to give it to their younger brother or sister when they go home. For 10 year old kids and chocopie(brownie kind of cookie) in their hand, thinking more of family is mentality we had back then. I also remember we had some kind of robin hood rule in our school .. Every student had to bring one little bag of rice once a year and we voted to give to students who needed them most. One of my closest friend got one part of rice ... He couldn't look at anyone .. he just stirred at floor and crying. It's mixed feeling of shame for living poor and and happy-relief kind of emotion at same time. God I miss old times ... We were so innocent and happy no matter how poor we were. I wonder what happend to those guys .. what are they doing? Oh I'm way off topic ... what was the question again? was there a question? am I talking to myself again?

To answer the original question, YES! I had terrible reception. I had the program before it on, while I was waiting for Hello God to start, and that's when the reception started to go kerflooey. I could see nothing--absolutely nothing but lines and static, with a very poor picture flashing on occasionally, and there was interference from another station, too. That has never happened before. I was looking for there to be some announcement that the transmitter had gone out again, but apparently only a couple of us had problems.

One last thing. If his name is "Day" does that mean "yes"? Are you referring to how they pronounce it? I've heard it before in other dramas where they pronounce the "Nay" or "Yes" but it had "D" sound to it, so I can see why you'd think that "Day" would mean "yes" when they're actually saying "Nay".

In a flashback they showed his mother calling him "Dayfly" or something like that...I think it was his nickname....and then she just shortened it to Day....

Isn't it this one? The one we're posting in is called "bad reception Saturday," and you started it . . .

I tried to get a recap of Saturday's episodes by reading the posts in this thread, but can't seem to fit together some of the posts to be a comprehensive review. Could someone give me a brief recap of the last Saturday's episode? Thanks in advance.

Sorry Lucy, I re-read my post, It was not really about bad reception. Didn't mean to upset you. Still learning.
