OMG...was it just me, or did anyone else cringe when Captain Chung tried pulling that bullet out of Yi Soon-Shin? Oh god...imagine how the REAL Yi Soon-Shin must have felt. I mean, no medicine or drugs or anything to numb the pain and all. God...just...ouch. I cried so much during this episode. I couldn't help but admire Yi Soon Shin's bravery. Plus, Kisu dying...oh god, I cried. I was like, "NNNNOOOO!!!!!" So far, I personally think that this is one of the best episodes in the series (although there are MANY more). What does everyone else think?

I agree that this was a completely riveting episode. Yes, the wound scene was pretty rough. I'm not a medical type, and I don't even look when I have blood work done. Won Kyun really gets on my nerves now. He's a loony.
Hey, how about the evil Japanese general having his fit toward the end. It might just win the Eccentric Acting Award for Korean Drama-- a thick field for competition, indeed!

Finally you guys watched ep. 68. ;D Admira Yi Sun-shin had a bullet wound in the shoulder. Captain Jung Wun dressed his wound, smiling at his joke. Kurujima Michiyuki was shot to death by the Constable Kwon Jun's arrow.

The part of episode 68 that got to me the most was observing the pain on Young-nam's face because of the sight of Kisu's dead body. Then how angry he was over Commander Won and how he shakes everyone up with the truth. I really like Yi Young-nam's character.

Totally, dspR...when that grandfather gave that statue that Kisu made to Young-nam, I cried. I was like, "Awww...they can't do this to him!" It was such a great episode...I guess NY is behind Chicago...that was the last episode I saw, but then again, my TV's pretty screwy. For some weird reason, I have cable when I'm not supposed to. But hey, who's complaining?

Btw, this is a question related to Yi Soon Shin's final battle. Do you guys find it hard to believe that a guy like that could get killed with a stray bullet? It almost does him injustice in a way...u kno wat I mean? I mean, here's this brilliant, great navy commander who has high moral standards and stuff, and he gets killed because of a STRAY bullet? My mom wouldn't believe it when I told her at first that that's how he really died. She thought he committed suicide...but that doesn't suit him either. I thought he just died a natural death. *Sigh*...fate was so cruel to Yi Soon Shin...even to his death.

IMO, dying from a stray bullet in his last victory is quite awesome. I don't think it would be more magnificent if he died from a direct hit....or natural cause.
Yi Soon Shin died after watching the Japanese finally leave his homeland of Chosun. He died reassured that no Japanese would dare cross the seas to terrorize the Chosunese again (well, for at least 300 years). Even though he was struck by a bullet, Yi Soon Shin left this world peacefully. That is quite a beautiful ending to his legend.
anyway, wasn't that episode a distortion? From what I know, there were no snipers and Yi Soon Shin was never hit by a sniper bullet....I know he was hit in the shoulder during a battle.
Compared to actual history, the drama didn't do a good job at showing how manly Yi Soon Shin was. I remember reading that Yi Soon Shin did not tell anyone or express himself of the bullet wound until after the battle to not demoralize the men, and when another guy was taking out the bullet, he took it like a man and didn't cry or anything (this the drama does show).
someone respond ;P

Thanks Choko. I love seeing drawings/paintings of historical events, and children's books have some great ones.

Yeah, I think you're right pakyownage4eva. In reality, Yi Soon Shin didn't get hit by a sniper bullet. I'm pretty sure (not 100%, but pretty sure) that it was a stray bullet. It DID hit his shoulder pretty deep, like the drama says, and he doesn't cry, which the drama shows. I don't know about him hiding the bullet from his soldiers, but that's probably what actually happened. I mean, this is the guy who hid his own death from his soldiers until AFTER the battle so they wouldn't get demoralized. That is probably more true to his character than what the drama shows. Still, I liked how the directors did that scene, anyway. ;D

in a parallel , remember that another great naval commander Admiral Horatio Nelson was also killed by a bullet during his triumph at Trafalgar. There's a lot of stuff flying around during naval battles and commanders stay on top of open decks all the time. There is no way for naval commander to stay behind his troops and watch battle from atop the hill.

Still, I liked how the directors did that scene, anyway. ;D I sure don't. They're making his victory seem like a mistake by getting shot by a bullet and retreating and making Gurujima chase after them. They're defaming his genius.... The Turtle Ship never sank during the test run either... But I know the producers have to distort things and make stuff up 'cause it'd be boring to strictly stick to history since all Yi Soon Shin does is win, win, win 23 times. Also, what could the japanese do against the Turtle Ship? Their muskets don't do anything to it. It just seems like the Turtle Ship roams around during a battle blowing up Japanese ships, while Japanese soldiers do their best to ignore it (before they die) and fire at the regular flat roof ships. And after Japanese soldiers get impaled on the spikes, I wonder how the CHosunese would get them off -_-. Some would still be alive and stuck to the ship
