Though in perspective, lets not give the rag tag European posse that made it to far east Asia in the 16th Century too much credit.
The same bunch had also landed and traded along the coasts of Africa and India along the way and they didn't inspire any great military prowess or beneficial political influence there, quite the opposite of course.
The Japanese may have their demons but we must recognize their unique strengths along with their historically demonstrable flaws.
