Episode 54 preview(On broadcast March 5th)
Turtle Ship No. 1 sinks right before Yi Soon Shin and the court officials' eyes immediately after launching. Yi Soon Shin is blamed for building a "defective" ship. In contrast to Yi Soon Shin's failure, Won Gyun is shown training an impressive troop of marines in the next scene.
In real history
Turtle Ship No. 1 didn't sink under Yi Soon Sin's watch(In fact, Yi Soon Shin lost zero ships during his 7 year war), Won Gyun sank it in his first and last battle 6 years later with the rest of 138 ships in the fleets.
Why the distortion of history?
This series is based on a pair of anti-Yi Soon Shin novels, was often dubbed "Immortal Won Gyun" by critics, and the producers and script writers are beginning to show their true colors now.
Just remember how far the producers will go to make Yi Soon Shin weak and morally corrupt(sleeping with the daughter of his lover).

Just remember how far the producers will go to make Yi Soon Shin weak and morally corrupt(sleeping with the daughter of his lover). WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!! The Producers are actually going to make YSS have a romantic affair with Mijin's daughter. You got to be kidding me. I could understand showing some of the bad side of YSS (not all heros are perfect by all means), but if their creating nonsense angles like that that's a little too much.

Trespasser:
1) Where are you watching? I thought we were on episode 34 or so.
2) Please do not double post your threads in different forums. You can post it here, or you can post it in tangents, but don't do both.
3) Please remember to put the episode number in the subject line of your spoiler! I fixed this one.

Just remember how far the producers will go to make Yi Soon Shin weak and morally corrupt(sleeping with the daughter of his lover). It seems that dramatists have already abandoned that bad disgusting idea of YSS' second love story. (I'm hopefully eager for the show WITHOUT love story.) I guess they want to create that fictional Turtle Ship Scandal instead of a grubstreet soap opera. The show was generally good up to Episode 52 (after Episodes 30's). But, dramatists will insert a bizarre story in Ep. 54. Actually, YSS fan board of KBS is swept by the great uprising of Korean viewers. Because many of them {*ironically*} have wished the Japanese invasion at this weekend and they feel that the Ep. 54 is an insult to the national hero. I'm also bothered because dramatists are evidently dragging the show, before entering the war phase, with the fictional incident which has nothing to do with real serious history. I don't know which one is the worse between a rubbish soap opera and a nonsense fantastic movie.

Yeah, it seems that Korean members have begun to come in. We used to {back in the days when this was a truly interesting and intellectual place to be, not that it isn't now} feel graced with a few {I mean two or three} Korean viewers who would come here and enlighten us American idiots. Now we have discussions about episodes that won't air in months!
I don't see what the writers are trying to accomplish, now that they are creatign a truly interesting show. The drama is what ruisn shows like this. Also, it seems that not a single Producer or Writer {only the narrator and a few actors} from AOW has returned. Even in the "KDS" days, there was never such irrating drama. It's like watching a Turkish soccer game!

I didn't mean it, it was a mistake. Tried to delete it but I couldn't.
Of course, remember these are the same producers who would sink the Turtle Ship at the launching ceremory and send hundreds of sailors to their watery grave to make it more "dramatic". They will of course have him have an affair with the daughter of his first love to show the "human side" of him.

If they’re going to turn this into a lame romantic series, then I’ll just stop watching the series and buy some Samurai movies and Chinese and Samurai TV historical drama at us.yesasia.com/en/index.aspx and www.ninjadojo.com/ if they show a lot of fighting. I already recorded the first four episodes of YSS on my TV tuner card so it’s all good. As far as I know majority of us on the YSS forum are watching this show because we want to see a lot of fighting, massive battles, and court drama like in Age of Warriors and Wang Gun. I just hope they make Wang Gun and Age of Warriors into DVD even though it didn’t receive high ratings in South Korean TV. I haven’t seen Heaven & Earth or Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha and I just heard about “Han Wu Da Di” TV series at a history forum I visit. I’m hoping they’ll have massive battles in that Chinese drama. I heard it was highly popular like Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.

In fact, the show has not given any allusion of seconde romance up to now (up to Ep. 52). It has been concentrating on international diplomacy, political intrigues and navy story (war preparations).
Trespasser affirms there will be a soap opera just because of the original novel. But from what I have heard, the show takes a large liberty from it. (I also heard Mijin is a creation of the dramatists, not that of novelist. But I'm not sure of this point because I don't read the novel.) And from what I have watched, I {hopefully} guess the dramatists would not take way toward a rubbish soap opera. (If they will, I also would like to stop watching the show.) I have an impression that the dramatists abandoned the original novel's plot and we don't know yet what will happen to Mijin's daughter. (We even haven't seen her after Ep. 42.)
The actual turmoil among Korean viewers is aroused by the preview of the Turtle Ship sinking episode because it seriously offends national sentiments. Additionally, that useless fictional invention will drag the show at least for one week in two episodes before the beginning of Imjin war. Historically, the Turtle Ship making was completed two or three days before the war broke out.

To Korean members or guests : I think it's better that we Koreans restrain from spreading spoilers and from discussing episodes which precede american airings. This is an AMERICAN forum. I feel also very uneasy as like my compatriots about the preview of Episode 54 even though I'm far from the nationalist. But how can we exchange our ideas or critical viewpoints with those who haven't yet watch episodes we had already watched or we will watch soon ? (Personally, I don't want to view Eps. 53-55.)

How bad is a Turkish soccer game, ID ? It's worse than the worse soap opera you have ever seen. I'm part Israeli, and though I am mostly into American Football {I played on the high school team, and I am a New York Giants fan, even if they aren't the greatest team} I have seen a few Israeli soccer games, {my parents, who live down in New Jersey, get teh Israeli Network via sattlelite dish} and in case you don't know, soccer is about the only thign on Israeli TV, besides news, and Israeli soap operas {worse than American ones} Anyway, there are only three teams I ever get to see Israel play, in my monthly visits. These are Italy, Cyprus, and of course Turkey. Italy is a fierce team, and brings out the most interesting games. Cyprus is boring, with nothing ever happening. However, Turkey is the saddest of the sad. The ball taps a Turk's foot, and it's on the floor, crying to the corrupted Umpires {can't think of what they're really called} and it's Red-Card. Repeat every five minutes, and you get what i'm talking about.

You got to be kidding me. quote] This would also be a bizarre approximation of the martyred peasant girl < KDS < princess (same actress as peasant girl) unrequited love "triangle" from AOW.

Will YSS know that the girl is the daughter of Mi-jin or does he find out later? And what does YSS's wife have to say about all this?! Or actually never mind, b/c back then, I guess the wife has no authority over her husband's issue with women.

If they will create a grubstreet soap opera, they should receive a Red one. For those of us who are taping the show, I suggest we just fast-forward and pretend the boat-sinking incident never occured. As for the love-affair......I suggest don't even bother recording it. This is a solution, moreshige.

I'm impressed by the fact that this spoiler thread is crowded with American populations. I don't think this is a big spoiler. In fact, I'm glad Trespasser gave us a heads up. I definitely do not want that on my tape. The real question is will it be merged in with some of the military and political aspect of the show. I would hate it if I didn't record an episode because of the love story and miss out on some important details concerning the beginnings of the Imjin War.
