There is no love story announcement in previews of Eps. 53-54. That's why I have tried to explain that we don't know yet the fate of Mijin's daughter. (I heard the actress is actually very busy for filming a *modern* movie.) At any way, from what I read in previews, Ep. 54 is an unacceptable nonsense in historical aspect. That makes the whole political and military situations (in Chosun) as fictional ones. I don't see how the dramatists will resolve chronological problems.

this is the problem i have with the writers. i understand some fictionalization is probably needed in a long series. but that should not come at the expense of the truth and tamper with actual events and a persons character. i realize there is limited factual material available but this is getting disgusting if this is the direction they are taking. to show YSS as a flawed and imperfect human being just like all the rest of us....i have no problem with that...my problem is when the writers use fictional material rather than the truth for this...i find this frustrating and unnecessary. YSS is an exceptional man, flawed yes, but don't make that kind of stuff up for the sake of drama. to borrow one of his favorite phrases...what a disgrace.

What are the titles of the two anti- Soon-Shin books that the series is based on?

I am currently watching Episode 53, the precurser to that infamous episode. The Turtle Ship No. 1 is shown being constructed as a three deck design. One of Yi Soon Shin's engineer at the site strongly objects to the design as being dangerously unstable and insists on a two deck design instead. Yi Soon Shin overrules his objection because a two deck design would not be able to fire cannons while moving and orders the contruction to proceed as planned.
And you know what happens tomorrow, that engineer's warning comes true and Turtle Ship No. 1 capsizes at launching, taking down a hundred sailors with her...
It seems that the producers subscribe to outdated two-deck theory, even when a recently discovered Japanese painting from 17th century clearly shows the Turtle Ship as a three-deck ship.
And worst of all, Won Gyun gets to laugh at Yi Soon Shin's miserable failure...

Well, I didn't have to wait until Ep. 54, the Turtle Ship No. 1 sinks at the end of Ep. 53.
KBS bullen board is overloaded with hate messages now.

For my mental hygiene, I stopped to watch the episode 53 when the turtle ship starts to launch.
Actually, Ep. 53 was one of the best episodes of IYSS. But it became soon one of the worst one because of the last few minutes.
According to Korean viewers' comments, Ep. 54 is entirely fictious and even ridiculous. It's worse than Ep. 53. I don't know if I will watch it.

Not necessarily sleeping with her, but a platonic love affair is sufficient enough. My worst fear is that Won Gyun joins in the action and turn the whole thing into "War Sonata" or something like that.
Once unthinkable, "War Sonata" possibility has become real after sinking of Turtle Ship No. 1....

Yeh, you can think differently. It's strange that everyone think in the same manner.
Personally, I think Ep. 53 was good before the Turtle Ship launching scene. But it became the worst (after Ep. 54) because of that scene. That's what I said.
The dramatists should have started the war phase after the launching ceremony. The useless fictional incident let the drama be dragged on during a week.
