This episode was a gift from the writers to ID. They knew he wanted more melodrama. ;D If Mijin didn't want to see YSS, why did she open the door? How did Eunu know that she didn't want YSS to know she was there in that scene? Even though I had tears in my eyes during this episode, the whole "let me watch him pass his exams before I die, but he can't see me" was way over into soap operaville. Yoen-Hwa might have been better off with Kyun. At least her mother-in-law treats her well. Fourteen years later!  |

Yi Soon Shin is a real man.
He broke his leg after the fall off the horse, and as the famous legend goes, he tied up his own injury, got back on the horse and owned his exam. How manly.
It was sad to see the dying Mijin look feebly at her love, Soon Shin, while he gracefully rode his horse and shot his arrows with such power and charisma, but I also felt some relief that she got to see him when he was in such a "muh eet nun" and fine moment before she died.... Still, she never let Soon Shin know she was back after those long years.... At least she died with one last great memory.
then 14 years pass...soon shin has to go fight some stupid nomads who should go harass some fish, not Chosun...

During the 14 year gap, YSS lost his father and both brothers. I only remember one. What happened? The barbarians want revenge on YSS. What happened? Help me out YSS historians.  |

During the 14 year gap, YSS lost his father and both brothers. I only remember one. What happened? Yi Soon-shin had 3 brothers : Hi-shin, Yo-shin, and U-shin. The brother we saw in the earlier episodes is Yo-shin. Other brothers have never appeared in the drama. Hi-shin and Yo-shin are dead, as of episode 25. The barbarians (Korean pepole call them "Yeo-jin" tribe) are nomads living in the northern part of Manchuria. Even though they look like barbarians, they would destroy Ming China and found Ching China a few decades later. Some nomads including "Uljine" invaded Chosun(Korea) 4 years ago and they were captured by Yi Soon-shin. (I don't know Uljine is still alive or not) Anyway, Uljine's best friend "Maniunge" got angry about that and wanted to revenge on Yi Soon-shin. |

yes. That guy did look awfully familiar . episode 26 was nice. Was totally out of character for Soon Shin to demand more grains but it was all his plan to own those silly nomads. he sure taught them a lesson. |

Then Appointed acting commandant of Konwon fortress. While Yi is at the fortress, the Jurchen forces, led by the Manchurian ¡°barbarian¡± chief Mu Pai-Nai, invades the border province. Yi lures Mu to the battlefield and captures him and his ¡°bandits¡± (the Orank¡¯ae). Near the end of the same year, his father dies, and Yi resigns his post to fulfill his filial duties as a mourner. (Cf. In oder to avoid spoilers, it's better not to read lines after 1587.) Mu Pai-Nai is certainly "Uljine", mentioned by Choko with korean pronunciation of his name. In episode 25, YSS is appointed Manho (captain) of Josanbo, Hamgyong province (in 1586). Finally, from episode 25, we will have more histories and less fictions ! And with more actions, of course ! |

Fourteen years later! 1- I just knew that the long awaited moment of their meeting would never come. ( "shaking the head" smiley needed) 2 - lol, It's like, "Wait! Stop!" I feel so cheated. (lol) |

Mijin and Master Namgoong’s village isn’t real in history. The writers just added that as a preview to show what lays ahead for common lowly Chosun peasants under the sword and bullets of the Samurai warriors and Ashigaru soldiers.  I wonder what Manchu leader “Suk Soong of AOW” is portraying? I wonder if it’s the famous Nurhaci who started the Qing dynasty in 1616 toppling the Ming Dynasty? He’s probably one of the best generals out there during the time better than what Oda Nobunaga did taking out the cavalry army of Takeda Shingen’s son Takeda Katsuyori at Nagashino. Nurhaci’s Manchu cavalry were a skilled mounted horse archers. At the battle of Sarhu in 1619, their cavalry army was outnumbered by Ming Army which were equipped with firearms and cannons. But Nurhaci lead a charge of cavalry archers and won something the Takeda clan’s cavalry couldn’t do against Oda and Tokugawa’s rifles. Since the days of Ghenghis Khan, they were always surrounded by enemies and always fighting with Chinese, Mongols, Koreans, Muslims, Portuguesse, and Russians. They enlisted Mongols in their ranks and thought they were an undisciplined and unsat inferior soldiers. |

Suk-Soong portrayes a Jurchen Leader. Not a Manchu. I doubt the Manchurians were able to invade Korea, while they were still fighting the Ming.
