hi ukfan, Sorry, a moment of madness here ;D Minty, are you in advertising by any chance? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DJG Comic Book: Do you know what, I like to try an experiment. I will design say a DJG comic book (20 pages long, each page is a short story like what maedayeve and I have been doing, published it as a pdf file and distribute it online to Singaporeans and I would just love to see the reaction ;D I could link the experiment to an online survey as well...hey, this would be fun ;D It wouldn't be a commercial project of course (copyrights issues!) but purely for fun and I would like to see how MBC would react to it...assuming they pick up the story. Hey, what about a DJG Comic book blog? ;D ukfan ukfan, 1. yes, a bit of advertising. my job scope is very wide. ;D 2. the idea is great. my main concern thus far is copyright issues. that's why alot of things i would like to do is on hold. 3. o.k, what experiment are we talking about here? (i may be of help?) 4. i would def. like to help out in the "creations" department. ;D (again, only concern is the copyright issues). minty

Hi everyone! I have good news. I did a poll on a forum that Singaporeans frequent to discuss dramas on TV (it does not represent the entire population, but I think it is an interesting start). I posted two samples (I think they were by maedayeve - hope you don't mind!) It has only been a day, so the were only a few responses when I last checked. But half of them said that they would definitely be interested in DJG comic relief! And over eighty percent said that they would definitely visit the blog when it is up. So keep going! They said you have done a great job, and I think so too. All the comments were positive. Some of them would rather have Chinese comic strips - though they wouldn't mind English ones. And someone suggested comic strips in Korean. How about getting people who know Chinese to contribute once in a while, if anyone is interested? I think it will please the Singaporean market. I will post the link to the poll when there are more responses. Regarding publicity, I will gather comments once the blog is up - for instance, on which character they wish to see in the next comic strip... and so forth. Just a suggestion - for those who have better computer skills, will it be possible to make a little icon of sorts to be embedded in our personal sites for advertisement purposes? I wouldn't mind helping with the creation of comic either!

Hi Valeoftears
Fantastic! I glad you have used your initiative and get all this preliminaries done...keep going! ;D
The more feedback we get the better we can formulate the final offerings.
Psst! I am actually preparing a quick comic strip to keep the interest going...so watch the space!

that is good news, valeoftears! ;D and no, i don't mind. i do think however, if we are catering to a very diverse market, racially-speaking, we would need to be careful. i, for one, have no idea what singaporeans or koreans may find offensive when it comes to humor. i do hope that what i have contributed so far in the comics here weren't offensive to anyone. boy, this is getting exciting! ;D

Hi all I appreciate all the feedback, comments and some preliminary research carried out to ensure the success of our DJG Comic Relief project. I have had my thinking cap on all day yesterday and today and I shall be posting my views about this project shortly. In the meantime, I have posted below my latest contribution to set the scene! I think, this is what each one of them would have said. ;D

Hi all......again, ;D
My views and proposal:
My original idea was simply to create a small DJG comic book, send it out to those who are interested and see what happens.
But my suggestion has generated a far greater amount of interest than anticipated and it is quite obvious the Dae Jang Geum magic is still working!
As previously posted, I have given this project the name of, "DJG Comic Relief". This is deliberate as I think there are a lot of DJG fans who are suffering from withdrawal symptoms and this comic book and hopefully many more will follow will ease the symptoms - this is then the antidote for DJG withdrawal symptoms! ...and before you ask, yes, it has been clinically tested and it works!
Judging from some of the comments and feedback we have had so far, it is probably best if we do the following;
1. I like to make this project as inclusive as possible and as such we should invite and encourage anyone from any country to take part in this project.
2. To be practical, the first publication will be by myself and Maedayeve (but through consultation with the members here) and after that anyone can contibute in terms of ideas, suggestions and actual finished comic strips/books. (we will provide guidelines, which software to use, file format etc)
These proposals if acceptable will enabled and ecouraged DJG Comic strips/books in different languages to be published. Also, this will avoid any misunderstanding in the use of the language and issues in the creation of these comic strips/books.
3. Copyrights.
Firstly, this is a non-commercial project. This is purely for entertainment and MBC will get publicity free of charge, so I doubt very much we will be in any legal problems here, so don't worry.
4. Time-table and who does what...
Let's us have a think about my proposals and views, and we will talk about these. Please speak up and if you rather PM me, plese do so. The bottom line is this is for a bit of fun, please don't take it too seriously and most importantly...enjoy! ;D

how efficient, ukfan! *clap! clap!* i think that once this project has taken off and its initial runs, and depending on the audience reaction/response, i foresee that it will have spin-offs in other languages besides Chinese, Korean, English. i happen to know that Thais and Japanese are also wild about Dae Jang Geum and the series is being broadcasted in Egypt as well. and this is something else that just popped into my mind right now... [ hopes i won't get struck by lightning] i think that if we are successful in this project, we will also get media mileage just like what happened to yunyun's Show DJG on BBC campaign! and if that does happen...OMG!!!! ;D ;D ;D valeoftears, would you mind posting the link where you did the "test run?" is it in english? thank you! minty, thanks! it's a united effort and any help will be appreciated!;D

Hi all...hope you all had a good weekend! I watched the Korean/France football match and we have witnessed yet again the fighting spirit of the Koreans - they were clearly the underdog and the game was in France's favour and yet the Korean turned it round in the last minutes of the game -It is like watching DJG all over again! - Well done to the Korean team! ;D
Yes, Maedayeve, I do foresee these possible outcomes and I sincerely think the structure I want to put in place will allow this to happen.
Also, We will link our little project with YunYun's and vice versa as she already has created a large audience for her campaign.
Yes, Minty, you can of course you can create the Mandarin and English version! I want a FREE FOR ALL involvement from everyone!
Right, I will set up the DJG Comic Relief either Blog AND a Yahoo email Group today and also, we need to come up with ideas to create 20 comic strips so thinking time again.
NB: A blog would be good for anyone to comment of the comic strips and the Yahoo group would be ideal as we need to build up a database of readers of the comic strips, plus we can archive the comic strips in jpegs although the distributed version would be in pdf.
Thanks again folks - this should be fun and let's enjoy it!

PS. we have a board member who is a member of YMK's fan club in China!

Fantastic, I was wondering how long before you post your creative work! Welldone! Psst! I wonder, why can we have a forum like this one dedicated to DJG Comic Relief? It will satisfy both what a Blog and Yahoo Group would do...your thoughts? Yes, that's it! By having a forum and posting multi-language comic strips here we get readers to come here so there is no need to send pdf files and printing. emm! ukfan

ukfan, as they say in real estate: location, location, location! i think the forum & yahoo groups can serve as our "nerve center" when it comes to suggestions and ideas for new strips, promotional campaigns, etc. as for the blog, i think that's our best bet to showcase the comic strips. what do you think?
