Eps. 144: When I saw Min-jae's reaction to Yu-jin's pleas to leave Joyland and the Oh household, after that severe tongue lashing from Kwei-boon, I knew that was big trouble...and then followed by Yu-jin's miscarriage, sooner or later, Min-jae will have to come to a decision. I thought of how I would have responded, and it would have been completely different.....I am a different person than Min-jae...I would have started packing our things, and we would have moved into a hotel for at least a week.
I would have spoken to In-hwan and told him that the situation at home is at a crisis point and that I was moving out with my wife for her health and well-being. And what was the deal of not staying the night with his wife? I cannot imagine myself going home, when my wife needed me the most...and why in the world did he even go to the work the following day? And what's with that lunatic, insensitive reaction from In-hwan? Then again, if I were Min-jae, I would have never moved back into the Oh residence to begin with.....
This whole bit was just written to initiate conflict and prolong this series.......
Things are kind of uneven...Soon-young moves out a couple of times for her mental and physical health, but Min-jae can't get a clue and do the same for his wife?
If I truly loved my wife and I knew she truly loved me, I would have to forsake the other family if it came down to it...they would understand......

Min-jae is a decent guy, but he needs a special kind of woman who has a higher tolerance for abuse, and Yu-jin is not like that. Then again, there are few women who could handle someone like Kwei-boon.

Grandma is a nut case, plain and simple!

Granny is a nut case for sure and YJ knew what she was getting into when she insisted they move back into the Oh house. However, I do think MJ should have reacted a bit differently to YJ's outburst, even if he had just hugged her and told her they could move to calm her down. I know he is the smoldering, silent type but I also know that he loves YJ very much He needs to start telling and showing her how much before he loses her. And did everyone notice the look on Mrs Suh's face when Granny apologized? She isn't going to take this lying down.

Then the nut case granny should should realize how stupid she was to have listened to the EA and revealed the truth. It is high time this family stopped blaming the innocent people and pointed fingers to those real evil and guilty ones for the family miseries. I am thinking about not only the EA but also the Dad.

Min-jae is guilty as sin of precisely the things Yu-jin accused him of: being a son and a brother, but NOT a husband. The Oh family philosophy clearly is one of "a family that stays together" even if it drives all of them to the brink of insanity. I'm surprised for a bunch of people, who apparently have their own company, have never heard of taking a retreat. Indeed, go and pack an overnighter bag and check into the local Ramada/Intercontinental (whichever suits your budget ;D), spend a weekend playing golf, get a full body massage at the spa. I'm surprised Joyland doesn't have a hotel next to it that would comp them rooms, breakfast in bed, in-room massage, and complimentary use of the tennis courts. What use is all that company stock when you don't MAKE the time to reap the rewards and benefits?

Granny Nut Case is always looking for something to pin on Min-jae, and this was partly Papa In-hwan's responsibility to begin with, but then again, it can't be helped now...It is easy for her to listen and accept Auntie MJ's interpretation of what is going on because Auntie believes it herself, even if in reality it is all wrong.

These are the most frugal multi-millionaires I have ever seen on TV...No wonder they're rich; they hardly spend any their money!

"Grandma Nut Case" Oh, I love that name! I grew up with a psychotic grandmother myself. Whenever I see KB, I am always reminded of my crazy old grandma.

Happy Camper, I totally agree about that look Mal-bong shot Granny! What really got to me was Granny thinking, "What bad timing! They'll all probably blame ME for this." D_A_M_N RIGHT!
I don't know who I'm more upset with, Myung-joo for knowing how to push Granny's buttons, or Granny for being such a sheep for accepting her lies. GRRRrrrrr!

What use is all that company stock when you don't MAKE the time to reap the rewards and benefits? As I recall, building a hotel and 18-hole golf course was part of Joyland's expansion plans, which also got them in trouble. It was around that time that Rainbow International stepped in. With Min-jae, and I don't excuse his behavior at all, I think he, among other people, is probably close to a nervous breakdown, and is having difficulty functioning on a reasonable and emotional level. I would if I were subjected to all that stress!

The Blame should be put on HK for making Min jae and Yu Jin move in. He kept pushing for them to move in not really thinking how it would affect the family and not even asking min jae if thats what he and yu jin wanted.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but like some good ideas, we know how THAT one turned out!

hey guys all ur statements r correct but ultimatly this kind of falls in yu-jin's lap. she's the one who begged min-jae to marry her all the while claiming she could handle whatever was thrown at her. she also was full aware that min-jae wasn't in love with her the same way she is with him. she should've thought very carefully with her head( not her heart) about wanting to try to live her life to 'fix' min-jae's. changing him completely doesn't make everything 'go away'. she thinks she fell in love with him for who he is but she partially felt sorry for him b/c of the situation he grew up in.
