Do we know anything about Palace of Devotion? From what the translate function showed me on that website, I half wondered if the thing is a Chinese plant, either by the government or by some rabid nationalist individual. Maybe not, just sayin'.

Never watched the show or its predecessor Palace of Desire, all I know about it is that they're both popular Chinese palace dramas. Both happen to be available on YouTube.
What even is this "Northeast Project" they mentioned?

What even is this "Northeast Project" they mentioned?
It refers to Chinese attempt to steal Korean history by claiming Gojoseon, Buyeo, Goguryeo and Balhae were Chinese kingdoms, not Korean. Korea produced 3 Goguryeo dramas in 2006 as direct response to the Chinese Northeast Project : KBS Dae Jo Young SBS Yeon Gaesomoon MBC Jumong

The Chinese have recently been claiming some Korean traditional items as Chinese including Kimchi and Hanbok, which led to a cultural war between Chinese and Korean netizens. The cancelation of the Joseon Exorcist drama just after 2 episodes was a consequence of the internet war between Chinese and Koreans at the time. Anti-Chinese sentiment is very high in Korea right now. 77% of Koreans view China negatively according to research. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Chinese_sentiment

I wonder what would happen if some of those nationalists got reported to the Chinese government for being so ashamed of their own country's history that they were trying to steal other countries' histories to comfort themselves.
Most likely the government wouldn't fall for it completely, but could it put some fear into some of them? Would be funny to find out.

The Northeast Project is a Chinese governmental effort, not just by regular Chinese internet commenters online. Hence the reason why Koreans got upset and produced 3 Goguryeo dramas in 2006 to prove Goguryeo is Korean history.

That is horrible. Had no idea. What a bunch of losers. They're pretty much like a rich version of North Korea. Their biggest hit film of 2021 was "The Battle at Lake Changjin" which is about Chinese army defeating "evil" American imperialist army during the Korean War to save Korea from becoming "colony" of the United States. And yes, I said Korea, not North Korea. The Chinese government brainwashed their people to believe that the Korean War was about China saving entire Korean peninsula from becoming American "colony." Chinese people are taught to believe that Korean peninsula would have became a US colony if China didn't intervene. According to them, South Korea is not a US colony today because US did not dare to turn South Korea into a colony after witnessing how mighty the Chinese army was and therefore the South Koreans should be thankful to China. I'm not kidding about this. I'm not sure if it was this movie or some other Chinese film, but there's a scene in a Chinese film where former Chinese soldier who invaded South Korea during the war visits Seoul in modern day and tells the South Korean tour guide that he's been here before. The tour guide gets surprised and asks him when he was here, he answers that he was here during the Korean War to "liberate" Korea from US. The tour guide answers "Thank you for helping our country." lol In 2020, Kpop group BTS received James A. Van Fleet Award saying "We will always remember the history of pain that our two nations(US & Korea) shared together and the sacrifices of countless men and women." The Chinese netizens got furious saying that "the speech plays up to US, but the country played the role of aggressor in the war.โ www.huffpost.com/archive/in/entry/bts-china-fans-rm-van-fleet-award_in_5f8409b5c5b6e5c32000b0bcThis part is not mentioned in the English article, but some Chinese actually criticized saying "Why aren't they thanking China? Only reason they're not a US colony today is because of us" By the way, the whole premise of their 2021 film is absolutely false, because the Chinese did not "defeat" United States in the Korean War. Here's the ending scene of this movie. I think it's pure comedy lol

It would be interesting to learn what percentage of their population actually believes this stuff vs. how many know better. Of course it doesn't take many gullible saps to cause a whole lot of trouble...as we learned ourselves on 1/6/21.
Do you think the Chinese "netizens" parroting this stuff are actually all government employees paid to do it full-time? I don't get the impression that ordinary Chinese get to see much of anything on the real internet.
I play Clash of Clans and it's a huge deal in China, and recently the Chinese government demanded that all Chinese players be put on a separate server kept isolated from the rest of the world. I'd have told them to go f off, but the majority owner of the (Finnish) gaming company is a Chinese tech company, so they complied. If the government is going to those lengths for even a silly cartoon game with barbarians and dragons...then yeah your North Korea analogy is becoming truer by the day.

It would be interesting to learn what percentage of their population actually believes this stuff vs. how many know better. Judging by the fact that the movie was China's biggest hit film in 2021 and they're currently in production to make 2 more sequel movies, I would say most of them. South Koreans see the Northeast Project as part of China's effort to claim North Korea as their land in case of collapse of North Korean dynasty. By claiming Goguryeo and Gojoseon were their history, the Chinese can say that they're just taking back their historical land.
