Yikes we certainly don't want that...They're putting plenty of current stuff on there so I think we're pretty safe. They're even subbing LBKT in Portuguese so they must be seeing a demand for subbed series. Fingers crossed.

I had a thought. The primary reason Hyeonjong came to power historically was because Gang Jo installed him onto the throne after killing Mokjong. Hyeonjong is the protagonist. Does this mean Gang Jo’s portrayal might be heroic, or will he be anti-hero?
Also, will pre-king Hyeonjong be somewhat involved or get caught up in shenanigans like Kim Chiyang’s nonsense?

These are difficult questions, you're making my head hurt!
Seriously, I don't know this story well and will have to go back and review some of the history from the Iron Empress years before it airs.
I just hope they don't get too fast and loose with things for drama's sake like we've seen too often in LBKT.

There is something I am curious about.
This show was announced but the director and writer haven’t been given yet.
We don’t even have production photos.
Am I to take this as that they haven’t even started working on it yet?
Taejong Yi Bangwon was the same. When did production start for this one? Do they even have a script written?
Also a repeat of history.
JDJ and Taejong Yi Bangwon-Takes place at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon years Jingbirok and the Hyeonjong show- both are about foreign invasions in Korean history

jjal.gg/post/220513lbhsn Drama confirmed to be about the Goryeo-Khitan wars, from 1010 to 1019. Hyeongjong is the lead and will be portrayed as "someone who attained the Throne after various assassination attempts, and a hero who established 100 years of peace, making Goryeo the strongest nation in East Asia at its time." "It will be the first full-scale video work about the Battle of Guiju and General Kang Gam-chan." "State-of-the-art computer graphics technologies such as in-camera VFX, lidar shooting, and deep fakes will be mobilized to safely and effectively realize the spectacle of the battlefield."
While nothing in the article indicates the title, it seems to treat "The Goryeo-Khitan War" as the title. Article says the show will be broadcast in late 2023, unfortunately.

Assassination attempts....that part sounds like something out of a fusion drama, but I have read Queen Heonae did try to have him killed while he was staying at a Buddhist temple. Though the article makes it seem it was that one time, this show makes seem as if it’s several.
Edit: Koryosachoryo claims that his aunt tried killing him several times
Late 2023? That sucks
And still no director and screenwriter?!

Actually there are 2 directors - Kim Han Sol from Imjin 1592 and Jeon Woo Seong, whose most notable credit is 2017's Strongest Deliveryman. Writer is Yun Ji Hye, who I can't find any credits for...

Kim HanSol of Imjin War 1592.....hmmm....maybe this will be promising....just hope he doesn’t desaturate the imagery like he did in that show....
Yun Ji Hye might be a first time writer?

It's possible that she screenwrote for this movie called My Sweet Record movie.daum.net/moviedb/main?movieId=104680 - this may well be her first drama.

For the show to have a late 2023 release though, could it be to give the production team more development time? Even with usage of computers? This is about a war after all.
Or is it something else?
I have a hard time swallowing that a Studio could be so generous.

IYSS used computer imagery very effectively to make the sea battles look realistically large...and that was back in 2005, so it seems unlikely that it should be a time drag today. Especially for a TV series as opposed to a major motion picture.
I do like the idea of seeing a big story around the Guiju battle (Iron Empress mentioned it in a narrated text and shot a few battle images to go with it, but it wasn't part of the story). So that alone is worth looking forward to. But some of the other stuff...brrrr I feel a chill....

I don’t know if the war with the Khitans involved naval battles, but it seems more likely the CG used will be for wide shots of cavalry charges. I don’t think that’s quite the same as a naval fleet.
What of the other stuff gives you chills? The late 2023 release? Deep fakes? The many assassination attempts?
Could the deepfakes be to add actors’ faces in front of stunt men’s?

Maybe just a little overly sensitive to the possibility of the story being gimmicked up. But it's early so I won't judge.
And you're almost certainly right about the CGI--especially after the horse thing that blew up in their faces in LBKT. You just know they'll be real twitchy about anything horse-related, so it would make sense that they'd be open to whatever tools they can use to lessen horse risks in big dangerous battle scenes.

Is this an actually production photo of the show or something else? The bottom text at the site says “Pyeonghwa war”. Edit: Turns out to be from the doucumentary that truth posted about.
