truth said: I like your critical explanation there. I agree with what you are saying, I loved IYSS, but it did seem that all the other main characters were only reacting to YSS, not the "world."
So, I hope (I repeat) that I can watch Book at some point. Fingers crossed.

Anyone seen the movie Roaring currents? Yi soon Shin and his subordinates were wearing black lavender armor while in the drama Yi and his troupe were wearing various colorful brigandine clothing. Which one is more truthful? And what about the Japanese?

Which one is more truthful? And what about the Japanese? IYSS is more truthful except for YSS's armor, which didn't come until 18th century. As for Japanese armors, each samurai generals historically had their own customized armors, but neither IYSS or Roaring Currents got them right.

Sadly seems unlikely.
Its been a long time since I saw IYSS, but in regards to Seonjo, I always saw the character as someone driven by envy by the fact that someone is saving the country while he, the king, just stays in his palace while many people suffer under the hands of the Japanese. Does it excuse his actions? Of course not.
I found out something interesting. As we know, Kim Gyu-cheol plays Hideyoshi. He also appeared in IYSS as a fictional character that even fans of the show despised because he was a waste of space. That character's father's actor, was Hideyoshi in the Imjin War drama that came out in the 80s. Talk about coming full circle.

Just watched Episode 3 and I have to say this Seonjo is better than IYSS's Seonjo. I won't say why cuz I don't want to spoil anyone.
Fun fact :
1. There are 3 Seonjos in this drama : Kim Tae Woo(Book of Corrections), Choi Cheol Ho(IYSS), Yim Dong Jin(The King's Woman)
2. Choi Cheol Ho played 3 characters in the same time period : Seonjo(IYSS), Jeong Yeo Rip(King's Face), Lee Hang Bok(Book of Corrections).

Choi was a rising star back in the 00's. Getting big roles. He has since fallen off.

Choi was a rising star back in the 00's. Getting big roles. He has since fallen off. He fell off because he was arrested twice for punching a woman. It's his fault. He should be glad that he's still getting roles.

Watched Episode 4 today, and this drama just keeps getting better and better.
Not good as Jeong Dojeon, but still a hundred times better than every other historicals KBS produced from 2009 to 2012(Iron Empress, Geunchogo, Gwanggaeto, and King's Dream).

Okay, my fault for this getting a little out of hand...should have started a spoiler thread sooner. Started one just now and moved this thread's most recent two posts into it. (Not the ones you're seeing now; the two that are in the new thread.) Too much information about the first episode. Should probably move a few more posts but since the series will start soon I'll leave the rest of it as is.
Just to reassure everyone, I will be doing episode summaries of some sort. They may not be as detailed as usual, depending on how much time I do or don't have...but there will be something here for each episode and each will have its own thread. So because this is a USA board, please wait until the episode airs here in the USA before posting information about it. Thanks.

What is the schedule for the Chicago area? Someone already uploaded first two episodes to YouTube minus the subtitles. Also, do you think this show will be in DramaFever in the future? Thanks!
