I couldn't believe how the SK government just totally caved in on the Olympic thing.
Exactly. This is why I said Park Geun-hye was the lesser of two evils when the scandal first broke out. I knew something like this was bound to happen based on previous two Koreal liberal administrations. What is having them participate in Olympics going to solve? It's not like they are gonna give their nuke away for inviting them to the Olympics. It's so pointless.
Yeah let's spurn our national flag and let the North in and join hands and let sport be the symbol of hope and unity, blah blah blah.
What these North Koreans should realize is that Taegukgi(South Korean flag) has always been the ONLY legitimate flag of the whole Korean people and I'm not saying this just because I'm from South Korea.
Taegukgi was used by all Korean people since the late Joseon dynasty designated it as the national flag. It's been used by all Korean independence fighters during Japanese occupation.
Kim Il-Sung himself declared it as the national flag of North Korea when he first founded NK until Stalin forced him to use the Communist flag that the Soviets created for them.
Of course, they don't teach this in North Korea. Hey, NK athletes, your own "Glourious Leader" Kim Il-Sung used Taegukgi as well, you should use it too.
Why can't we use our own flag on our own Olympics?
This reminds me of Son Kijeong in 1936 Berlin Olympics, who had to put on Japanese flag when he won a golden medal. He's trying to hide the Japanese flag on his clothes with a sapling in this picture.
He's originally from today's North Korea. North Koreans tried to persuade him to come back after division happened, but he didn't want to go to a country that stopped using Taegukgi. He did always miss his hometown until the day he died.
(*Fun fact - He's the only Korean to have met and shook hands with Adolf Hitler)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sohn_Kee-chungWhat makes me even more angry is that South Korea halted joint military exercise with the US until after the Olympics because NK asked us to, while NK will be having a military march on the day right before the Olympics. This military march was traditionally held in April and they suddenly decided to move it to the day before the Olympics. What the heck?
Based on previous 2 Korean liberal adminstrations, I feel like this administration also wants to give NK regime billions of dollars away and re-start the Mt.Geumgang tour and get the Kaesong Industrial Region business going again.
I hope this doesn't happen. North Korea is near a dead end right now with all the sanctions being imposed. I feel like we are almost near the demise of NK regime. Doing what the past 2 liberal regimes did will revive them again. NK was also near a dead end 20 years ago before the liberal president Kim Dae-jung poured them with money. Korea would've already been unified if it wasn't for the previous 2 liberal regimes in my opinion. It's time for NK to go, we can't revive them again.
I'm even for a military action if there is a way to do it while minimizing damages to South Korea. (There is a talk about US taking military action after the Olympics according to NY times)
www.nytimes.com/2018/01/14/us/politics/military-exercises-north-korea-pentagon.htmlIt's time to liberate North Korea from the tyranny of Kim regime.
