I would save for the attempt to restore the Wang's and drowning them all on the boat but it was done really well .

Thanks for all the great info on the new series, truth. Not going to hold my breath that we'll get it in Chicago, but you never know. Just curious: Wouldn't you give Great King Sejong points for historical accuracy? You know this stuff much better than I do so I won't presume to disagree with you, but when that series was running and I was picking up the history along with the story, it seemed like they did make the effort, even when turning away from accuracy could have made for a TV-friendlier story (like certain other series I won't mention Dae Joyoung Iron Empress whoops how did that slip out). Would be interested in what you thought of it. Anyway, thanks again; always appreciated. Sorry, I didn't watch GKS so I can't tell you how much accurate it was. I can tell you one thing though. Sejong was very fat according to Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. He would not eat a meal without meat. He ate meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But you don't want to use an overweight person as the main protagonist, so I understand the reason for using a skinny guy.

Another liberty they took was the relationship between Sejong and his brother the original Crown Prince, which probably pissed some people off who were familiar with the story. Sejong's older brothers felt that he was more fit to be king, so they deliberately caused trouble to get themselves kicked out. But in the drama, its a typical fight for the crown prince position you see in historicals, not to mention Yangnyeong seems to be a violent fellow (he makes me think of Sonny COrleone now that I think about it). There seemed to be some love between them though judging from the little bit I saw.
Did Yi Bangwon really kill Sejong's in-laws? Wow. THat king seems to have a bad habit of killing family members, from his brothers, brother in laws, and now his son; If you're gpoiing to marry somebody, make sure this man isn't your in law
WHo would've thought Sejong was fat? You'd normally expect scholarly people to be slim

I just saw episode 1 and this already looks much much better than King Gwanggaeto. Like night and day. Why does KBS go so hot and cold on it's dramas? Iron Empress was awful. King Geunchogo was very good. King Gwangaeto is awful.
It does remain to be seen if they tread the same tired plot lines or not, but it's off to a promising start. It seems very reminiscent of GQS in tone. Restrained acting (no yelling)
Wow, I would have never recognized that Evil Queen-in-the-making is the actress who played Jumong's mother. Must be all that eye makeup.

Maybe Gwanggaeto has higher ratings because he was a very famous king unlike Geunchogo whose history is not familiar to a lot of people.
I like Gyebaek despite watching it raw but I wish they stop using fake blood that looks pink. Why does the two princes and teen gye baek look the same age? Uija should be at least 10 years older (am not sure how old he is but he seemend to be ten when gye baek was born). The other prince should also be older.

Actually Gwang is not as bad as i thought it would be you just have to stick through the first few ep's While its not as good as Guenchogo was if you can sit through Dae Joyoung than no prob's with Gwang .
Now i am not saying its good but i have sat through far worse .

Episode 2: . . . . . . . . Why, why, why, does it always have to be THE CLIFF?
If King Gwanggaeto is DJY dejevu, this one looks like it's trying to be Queen Seonduk. Fat chance of that, since Mishil could easily eat Evil Concubine for breakfast. On the other hand, Mu Jin is almost as cool as Munno was.
I think I may have to start a poll on Cliff Falling - Best fall, worst fall, silliest fall, most gratuitous fall...

Why the cliff fall in so many stories?
Because it adds gravity.

Add that to the list of Kdrama cliches that annoy you. Hey, maybe someone should write a thread about that

Oh my I just watched ep 7 and I really didn'[t expect that it would Euija who would do that. I like how they did the time jump and WOW! LSJ is such a talented actor to do the last 12min without speaking a word yet you know what he is going through feeling etc.
