gee VIB you really need to be more specific in your summaries. Just kidding, wow! Many thanks to you and Choko for helping the non-Korean speakers understand the 1st episode. I will re-watch it again sometime today with this new information. ;D

having watched him in the first episode, i pity the admiral for having to be in the position of leadership that he is. because the outcome of the war is greater than any personal matters in his life, he must rationalize the loss of soldiers and even his friends to save chosun and must remain appearing as if he is in complete control of his emotions even if he feels otherwise.
i'd crack under that kind of pressure

WOW episode 2...MORE NINJAS!! well, this episode is more about political intrigue than the exciting battle scenes in the first episode, but we get some cute glimpses into the admiral's character and how much the people respect and rely on him. when the peeps in korea are asleep and i can get better streaming i will try to put up a summary of episode 2 the last battle of the war and people are still trying to bring the admiral down from the inside...talk about stupid timing. some vocab for the non korean speakers AOW watchers know "jang goon" as general (admiral in this case but the terms were interchangeable as chosun's army and navy were considered one) myung nah lah: china gong gyuhck hah lah: attack (AOW fans probably recognize this too) kahl: sword bada: sea bheh: boat i'll add more later

Miracle of miracles, I actually watched the entire 2nd episode at 300k with no buffering or freezing at all. Everybody must've gone to the beach today. ;D Well skinz was right, ninjas couldn't finish the job--twice. Looks like we got a glimpse of how strong the Admiral is too. And this episode also showed a little more humor at the training camp. I think I got the gist of what is going on but I will wait patiently for VIB's summary!

i am glad you can be patient mace! this one will take a bit longer more talk, less action and all but some things to note "wae nom" pronounced weh nome, is a derogatory term for the japanese at that time. the two ministers with the eunuch form the evil triad back at court that seeks to destroy yi soon shin i find it funny that as far as i can tell, the writers protray konishi yukinaga as a bit of a bumbling fool and his aid yoshida as the more crafty, weasely brainy one i also really dislike the king talk about being persuaded by "guileful tongues" as christy kim puts it LOL the chinese are also starting to piss me off this is how chen lien shows his gratitude for being rescued at the expense of the chosun navy? i mean, hwang se tuk didn't have to die and neither did all those men, but as soon as his @ss was safe, does he remember? fcuker.

Yep the actor that plays Chen Lien always gets the roles of the loser/goofy guy in modern dramas, so it's not surprising that this role is similar. Hopefully he will get his just desserts soon. So there is that one minister that is trying to defend Yi Sun Shin, and everyone else is after him? Man there are some serious eyebrows in this show, Che Won's got nothing on these guys. It's funny, I don't know why but at first I thought it was weird that the Japanese and Chinese would be talking Korean to each other...then I remembered all the WWII movies with the Germans and Japanese speaking English to each other too so it's the same thing. ;D Yukinaga, wae nom!!!

so my new favorite characters are:
yi soon shin (goes without saying) hwang se tuk (the old warrior) yi young nam (bushy eyebrows) nahl bahl (his swordsman bodyguard) kwon jun (one of his officers)
as for eyebrows:
normal=chosun super bushy=ming slanted spock=japanese
it would have been nice if they spoke in their respective languages, but i guess that would have been too difficult to coordinate

for those of you who actually read this thread
episode 4 is amazing
i have never seen such quality of writing and filming in a korean drama or movie
so much sadness intermixed with the uplifting
i cried so hard
a must see for koreans and non koreans alike
