Hi everyone, I have looked in a few places and I'm still debating on where we should hold our get-together. I'll admit that I'm a bit bias to restaurants (I love to eat : . Also, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I think a restaurant would be better.

I would opt for a restaurant also. The question is, table service or buffet?

I would opt for a restaurant also. The question is, table service or buffet? I guess either way is fine. A buffet wouild be kind of like a convention-type gathering with people going back and forth to the buffet table in-between getting to know each other and talking about the dramas. Table-service, on the other hand, would be more like an Oprah (had 2 use this analogy, since u guys r in chi ;D) book club dinner and discussion. Since the food is served at the table, the energy would flow around the socializing and discussion, as opposed to having to periodically get up for the buffet line. I guess it really depends on what format of a social gathering it's gonna be--a tea-house gathering would be more casual, more chatty affair over beverage and accompaniments. A meal-gathering is a tad more formal and there is a whole range of possibilities--from just another excuse to go out and eat, to a more social/mixer-type gathering, to an Oprah-esque korean drama fan club dinner, discussion, viewing-type of get-together.

I voted for the tea/cafe mainly because it looks as if only 11 people will show. The venue can't reasonably be chosen until one knows the approximate size of the gathering. Ideally, there would be people not only from the forum, but from the viewers in range of Ch28 who don't indulge in computers but would love to meet other fans (they may number in the hundreds or thousands!) There are ways to let them know, too. Then again, I feel inclined to say, I'll be at, say, Boba Net Cafe at so and so time and whoever shows shows, and let's not waste any more time. ;D

(This is why I tried to get people to sign up.) I also am concerned about financial matters--not everyone can afford to buy a meal at a restaurant, but I'd bet everyone can afford to get themselves a cup of tea or coffee and some kind of noshie. Maybe we should go for the coffee/teashop at this point, and try for a restaurant another time, or people at the meeting can decide if they want to do that together. Also, a teashop can be more fluid, with people coming and going. But--Boba Net Cafe? Is that Korean? Bo

Bo, I am on the boat with you on this one. Since this is the first time we are trying to do this, I think we need to start out small. If if takes off, we can try other things at a later time. Boba Net Cafe? I didn't find anything with that name in the yellow pages. We need to get ideas on a location.

ok, it looks like it is the coffee shop (those who voted for the restaurant thanks for your vote and maybe that can be done next time). I had cocerns about the coffee shops because 1. they might be too small 2. the parking sometimes on Bryn Mawr is limited 3. if people are coming from a long distance it seems weird to just say"let's meet for tea." However, I agree about the finiancial situation and the fact that it is our first meeting, we should meet at the coffee shop. There are a few places on Bryn Mawr where we can go, so I'll try to check the places soon (I have a child and it gets difficult to find time) or maybe Chigirl68 can also check. AGAIN, WE WILL MEET ON JUNE 19TH, AT A COFFEE SHOP (TBA) AT 7PM.

Do we have an ETA for the C/S Loc confirmation? That way I can figure out if the area has a boutique hotel or two--is it pretty much gonna b on Bryn Mawr?

I don't know about boo-teek, but the area around Lincoln and Bryn Mawr Avenues is like motel city. There's the Guest House, the Cherrokee, the Summit, and the O-Mi.
Up and down that strectch of Lincoln Ave are even more motels, like the Rio and the Stars up by Peteson and McCormick
