Attn. Drama City Fans: Drama Special

Hey there,

Please forgive me if this is old news to you, but I've only just discovered a show on KBS that is quite like the beloved Drama City(R.I.P.), it's called, Drama Special. I've only caught a couple of episodes so far because it's difficult for me to follow a station's programming without a verifiable schedule to speak of, but I digress. This show is most like Drama City in that each week it offers a high quality (usually) one part story in a 1 hour format (I say usually, because there have been several offerings that have been presented in multiple episodes). Regardless, this is pretty good stuff, highly recommended.

Now then, the reason I'm posting at this time is that I have finally stumbled upon the air times for the original and the repeat, although I'm not quite sure which is which (I'm suspecting that Sunday is the original airing, but I missed Friday's showing and I wouldn't know for sure til next week, although I'm assuming because of the air times that I have correctly deduced that Sunday's prime time slot is the first airing....).  As a public service,  here is all the information pertaining to the show that I can pass along to all interested parties:

If you wish to view them on WPVN 24.7 (until KBS reverts back to WOCK, but I hope not because I can't receive that station on my TV) tune your TV tuner and/or set your recording device for these times:

Sunday: 8:20PM (maybe a little earlier by a couple minutes)

Friday (perhaps the second showing): 4:45ish PM, maybe even try 4:40PM to play it safe; it seems to end just about 5:50PM.

Hmmmm, I was just closing out the window on my browser from the Youtube page that hosts the Drama Special shows and have noticed that the feature that aired this evening, 1/11/15, is a repeat: The Three Female Runaways | 세 여자 가출 소동 (Drama Special / 2014.10.17. Hopefully this is not a sign that the series has ended and there will be no more new episodes, but at least the archive is here on Youtube for the time being for all to enjoy for now. CV.

Thanks for this, CV--Drama City had some dedicated fans here when it was running so it's good to hear that something similar is back on. I didn't get to see Drama City but I'll try to check this one out. The YouTube option is great, I know--they put their daily drama episodes on there too and it takes a lot of pressure off of trying to keep up.

If there are any particularly good episodes that you'd recommend, please do let us know.

Hey there, ajk, jewel and other Drama City refugees,
First off, let me inform you all that there is a Monday afternoon repeat of Drama Special which begins sometime around 1:40PM or so (I happened to stumble upon it last Monday while the show was already in progress, as you know, start times are always approximate anyway dependent upon the number of commercials run at any given time, but I could estimate by when it ended as to its start time). So, just to summarize, first airing is Sunday, around 8:15PM; second airing is Monday, 1:40PM; and the third airing is Friday, 4:40PM (set your recording devices 5-10min ahead of these start times to be safe, and allow for 1hr+ maybe 15min or so in order to catch the entire show; actually, I've just checked and some of the videos on Youtube are 75min..... try not to wait til Friday in case of a mishap).

I've only seen a few of these shows so far, I've liked everything to varying degrees, but nothing in the way of a disappointment yet. I wouldn't know how to make a recommendation because I don't know what your viewing preferences are, and these shows have been all over the place genre wise. The first one I caught was a very dark, sinister offering called, Vengeful Spirit, which I would not recommend if you're squeamish, but one of the best things I've ever seen. I've also seen a couple more light hearted features entitled, The Reason I Get Drunk , and I Introduce My Father. A couple of weeks ago I watched what I thought was going to be a very sophomoric romp through teenage love/angst and turned out to be quite a touching episode, Middle School Student A. As I'm going through the list on Youtube, I'm seeing that many of these have previously aired, but hopefully this does not portend the end of production as there have been a couple of episodes added this year (2015).

There was a particularly touching episode a couple of weeks ago, Came To Me And Became A Star, this one I might highly recommend, BTW, the male lead was the male lead in Likeable or Not, if anyone remembers that cute show en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Likeable_or_Not (I learned the meaning of Danpoong from watching that one!)

So, I've just discovered that not all the episodes previously aired are archived on Youtube, ie., last week's and this week's continuation of, Missing Case of National Assembly Member Jung Chi-sungseems to have been produced (and won an award) back in 2012, but I'm not seeing it in the listings on Youtube. Remember, nothing lasts (quote from a famous enlightened one), so just enjoy these whenever you can. By the way, Jewel, I don't currently have any special costume that I don for these special purposes of watching and informing people of K-Dramas, but I kind of like the cape idea, I'll have to look into that, thanks for the suggestion!

Oh, one more thing, ajk, there are at least a couple of episodes of the old Drama City to be found on Youtube, When Her Star Shines, which I have seen and Love Me Tender, which I have not seen before. Too bad you didn't get to see more, like myself, I only saw the last year or so of production. Perhaps someday they'll be made available.  Well, that's all I know for now and I can attest to the truthfulness of all statements made in this post, but I am not seeking, nor will I accept my party's nomination for any elected office......

Capes shoulda never gone out of style. From Romans to Superheroes, they're so cool. It's like having your security blanket follow you around - how can you lose?

I have "The Colors of Gang and Cheol," "Bride in Sneakers," and "The Tale of a Bookworm" lined up. Can't wait, only I got so many others to watch...

Thanks, CV--appreciate the good info. Yeah, the usual quirks about episode lenghts and times.

Would be nice if DramaFever or one of those other sites would pick up the whole Drama City library someday...but apparently KBS isn't easy to deal with when it comes to webcasting of their shows. We'll keep hoping.
