Good thing I'm in a lazy mood right now, scrolling through channels instead of inputting them. Up popped this just-added station, KBS 24.7, that I didn't scan in. Great reception for me. Checked Channel 41, no signal.

Checked Channel 41, no signal. My tv won't recognize a channel unless I put it in and the antenna is in the correct position for that channel. sigh. Sometimes I try to make one better and end up losing a different one. No Ch. 20 now, either. Hey, I just noticed the extras in the strip above the writing area. There's even a choice of fonts now! Okay, this is very interesting...I just rescanned and 24.7 popped right up. Showing a KBS newscast. Wow. No subtitles but the newscasts never had them. I've searched the Internet like crazy but I can't find any filings or listings for a 24.7, and it's not on the WPVN (Channel 24) website either. Gonna keep a close eye on this.

AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! It's KBS World! With English subtitles! Right now it's running some sort of drama called "Don't Look Back" and it fits right into the timeslot on the KBS World website. Holy crap, this is huge--are we back in business? I'm going to try to get a hold of somebody at WPVN tomorrow and find out what the deal is.
P.S. The local ads they're showing are for business in the SF bay area. So this must be a remote feed from the terrestrial SF station, at least for now. And they're breaking into the KBS World feed for KBS America's newscast.

Just announced a few minutes ago on the WPVN website:
KBS America Launches New Chicago TV Channel (headline)
Beginning July 1, 2013 KBS America begins over the air broadcasting on WPVN TV 24.7
Well how about that.

Don't Look Back is the international title for Shark. I scanned for new channels today and do get KBS World on 24.7. The signal is about the same as MBCD 24.5.

It wouldn't come in for me. Maybe another day, when I move the antenna, if the clouds are helping.
At least channel 20 comes in now.

ginnycat5,
Today was my 18 hr day and I left early because I couldn't wait to get home and catch the new KBS! Funny you having problems gaining 1 station, losing another. Since last night, whenever I have 24.7 on, my internet tv flips out, shutting down and defaulting to 'set up your tv.' It happened again just now - and is only happening with KBS 24.7 - weird!

Yeah, I got online right away last night and could only come up with KBS World and KBS America - but no mention of program schedules for OTA'ers. Excepting that 24.7 is under WPVN, I was thinking last night had been a fluke and I'd lose the transmission any moment. But when I saw the sub-titled, Hello (Marriage) Counselor, which rolled into an 8pm rather than 9pm KBS World newscast, then the drama, Don't Look Back...'s airing, followed by KBS America's newsbreak, I began to believe KBS was going to be a sure thing.

And they're breaking into the KBS World feed for KBS America's newscast. That answers the question I wouldn't have time to check out until tomorrow: why am I able to get such crisp news shots out of Korea and with Calif ads when KBS doesn't even show OTA coverage in the US, let alone Chicago? Tonight I took a stab to get a ballpark KBS schedule; used SF as my city and Comcast as my cable. Got: www.kbs-america.com/docs/N._America_Affiliated_Feed_0701-0707%28English%29.pdf. Adjusting for time differences, the last 2-1/2 hours have matched perfectly. p.s. Since it's a feed, can we rely on steady transmission?

Here's the link to the KBS World TV site: kbsworld.kbs.co.kr/index_e.htmlIt has a schedule page, but you use it by choosing a time zone and it looks like the synchronization between time zone and schedule is all out of whack. At least we can see the current shows, though. The page-schedule you found may be more accurate; we'll have to see if they consistently publish that every week. I e-mailed the main guy at WPVN today and hopefully he'll answer and give me the lowdown. If KBS is back for good then it should be a huge boost to the forum, at least gradually. (Although the good old days of Monday/Tuesday historicals may be a thing of the past. We'll see.) For now you get the member-of-the-month award for spotting it on the first day of its broadcast and letting us know. Maybe knov can award an appropriate prize?....

Thanks for the link to kbsworld.com! I'll take a copy of a good English sub of the drama Thank You (lol), since if 24.7 can be relied on, it will be a huge boost for CKDF forum. Except ginnycat5 can't get in, MTR can't join us though he's 'on site'. And most importantly, me... While trying to respond to Knov1 just now, 24.7's audio cut out while the picture kept rolling, and after a delay, my tv went dead and came back on asking me to 'set up my tv.' Simultaneously, sitting in front of the tv with my laptop facing it, my typed characters became ALL CAPS and my keyboard starting acting weird, but worked fine in my email. (PC's only 6 months old, never happened before.) So in quick order, had to re-set my tv, back out of CKDF's board and login again. Then 24.7 yet again lost audio, delayed shutting down and restarting, then asked me to 're-set my tv.' So far, my keyboard is behaving logically. We'll see what happens before I sign out tonight.

Don't Look Back is the international title for Shark. I watched the full episode of Don't Look Back... last night--nicely done, I thought, before I looked it up online. And found the drama is known by 3 names: Don't Look.., The Legend of Orpheus, and Shark. Shark, that suggested drama for summer viewing I emphatically said I wouldn't watch. After viewing tonight's ep, I've returned to my first stance, 'at no time in the foreseeable future will I watch an avenging-my-loved-one's-death' kdrama. This is going to be one helluva fierce drama to commit to watching.

Last comments before I sign out tonight (oops, my tv went dead again when I turned back to 24.7). Trouble on my KBS horizon?
1) With our current feed, at least for those who can get 24.7, will be the 1st time watching some of the entertainment shows in English subtitles (some talk show on a while ago had them, and now a concert is on, subtitling the songs. Cool.
2) I like how KBS is giving us previews of different shows they'll be airing. There seems to be a few historicals on the horizon, that is, if KBS isn't giving us different names for the same drama.
3) The late night drama's storyline, character names, and cast of "Tale of Two Sisters," don't jibe with its online description. The aired drama is pretty dull. The online description of "Tale..." is a ghost story with 2 sisters abused by their stepmother, and their late mother's ghost appearing at home. But the aired drama is nothing like that yet is clearly labeled, "Tale...".
I'm tired. I'll see what 24.7 adventures tomorrow brings.
