I stumbled onto it last night while waiting for Horse Doctor.
It was on Channel 24.3, which is labeled TNN (the Nashville Network) but the logos for KBS and WPVN were both prominent on the screen. The format looked more widescreen to me which made the subtitles very small and harder to read compared to MBC, which uses the anamorphic format.
I've been watching MBC (by myself, it seems). Rascal Sons, Horse Doctor, and Here Comes Oh Jaryong all end this week.

Yeah, I did notice that about the subtitles, zorro. If you're not watching on a widescreen TV they do look a little small. I guess we'll have to live with that.
Eventually it would be good to do boards here for the MBC broadcasts. It's a matter of them runnning dramas when people can conveniently watch them, and a matter of getting the people who watch them to come here. Hopefully with KBS back and in the same channel group, the audience for both will build and someday we can have boards for multiple broadcast shows like we used to. It will take a while.
TNN has been bumped down to 24.2, by the way. They dropped Retro TV (which really stinks because I was loving those Colgate Comedy Hour shows on Saturdays) and did some rearranging.

Even if it seems like you're watching by yourself. That's what I've done with Rascal Sons (sort of), Yellow Boots, CDDA, When A Man Loves and Jang Ok Jung (sort of). Maybe you'll get others to watch and comment with you. While I still watch K-Dramas, most of it is online. I don't watch much live TV anymore, except news and sports.

amazing that we're getting so much quality programming for free. Ever since KBS ended their relationship with 41, the quality over there had suffered. Not only are we getting great reception but double the programming. Cheers to wpvn!

Hey, spongy, good to hear from you again. You still have that monster antenna? Yeah, I'm surprised that the KBC people aren't the ones bringing KBS back. But definitely WPVN is giving us a great outlet now, with both MBC and KBS and a strong OTA signal (for a low-power channel).
I'm just hoping KBS isn't here as a test run only...as in, are they still trying to charge the same inflated fees that made us lose them, and is WPVN simply trying to see if the revenue is there now. Would be nice to know a lot more about this. But that probably won't happen. I did e-mail WPVN and will relay anything they tell me. I guess for now we just be happy to have both networks available.

I still do have that big antenna but rabbit ears are good enough to get a good signal now. I do see commercials on mbc to asking for sponsors and advertisers in english. No idea about KBS though. I can't even get a program guide for them yet. Maybe they are affiliated with MBC? www.chicagombc.com/about-us/

No, they're not associated with MBC. I made a separate thread under 24.7 to show where to get the weekly KBS schedule. You get it through the KBS America website and it comes in a PDF grid just like the one on the MBC Chicago website.
Unfortunately the KBS America website vanished yesterday and hasn't come back up yet. I have no idea what's going on there. I expect it will be back up soon, but who knows.

The KBS America site is working for me.

I wasn't able to get it either at home or at work until about an hour ago. The main page still isn't going through, at least not through Google, but the other pages come up okay now. And the schedule link (above) is working again.

It's the internet. It happens. There are times when a site won't load for me but I know the site isn't down. You can try checking if a site is down using down for everyone or just me or a free web proxy service like anonymouse.

It is gratifying to finally watch Vitamin with subtitles. The new channel 24.7 is full of little treasures and it was thoughtful of nuwildcats to post the schedule!

Well, I don't communicate much any more, but I've been here, lurking now and then. It always seems that you Chicago fans were watching different shows than I was, or that you were so far ahead of me on the show I was watching that the threads were just one huge mass of spoilers.
But, I was truly astonished to discover that, as of yesterday, my satellite provider (DirecTV) has begun broadcasting KBS America. This, in addition to MBC America and SBS World.
Now ... I wonder if your KBS and MBC Chicago broadcasts are broadcasting in the same timeframe as my DirecTV KBS and MBC broadcasts?
Just how cool would it be for me to, once again, be able to follow (and talk about) the very same K-dramas you folks in Illinois are watching? It'd be just like old times, no?
Can't wait to see how this pans out!

Mikey! How the heck are you? Have seen you logged in periodically but it's good to hear from you. This is very interesting because in the "A Tale of Two Sisters" thread, MisterBill50 said that he was watching KBS on Dish Network but Dish just abruptly pulled the plug on it. So now I guess we know why--DirecTV must have cut them a better deal. (Fortunately he's local and he can get 24.7.)
You know what, I think the answer to your question is yes, because when he was watching "Sisters" it was on at the same time as it is on 24.7, and at the same episode number. So I'm guessing you're getting exactly what we're getting. If you want to check, go to the "KBS America schedule" thread in this board and it explains how to get the schedule of what we're seeing in Chicago on 24.7. There's a similar thread for the MBC schedule in the 24.5 board.
Would be great if you were synced up with both of our stations. Unfortunately it's going to take time to build up some group viewings; a lot of people drifted away from here after KBS left. But we'll get there, and we have MBC here now too so that will really help.
P.S. Is your Internet connection good enough to watch on DramaFever? You could watch Shin Don with us; we're only at Episode 3.

Thank you, AJK, for the kind welcome-back. I'm still feeling my way around my new KBS channel, but yes, my best guess is that it's probably matching up with the KBS America you're watching. The schedule doesn't say which specific episodes they're on, though; I might be ahead or behind. I'm still committed to a few shows on SBS and MBC right now, so I probably won't give KBS too much involvement until one of the shows I'm watching ends ... or something I really want to see starts on KBS. Seems odd that the KBS America website doesn't list Chicago as an outlet for their programs ... huh? Sure hope that it's just a old website page that hasn't been properly updated. www.kbs-america.com/schedule/schedule_channel.aspxYes indeed, I've tried watching K-dramas over the internet, but the slow DSL I've got makes watching an ordeal of herky-jerky, stop-and-go video. It was just intolerable, and I haven't bothered since (bummer). Strangely (judging from the Chicago MBC schedule) Chicago is getting completely different (older) shows that I am, and they're even being broadcast on different show dates (Wed/Thurs shows on my DirecTV service appear to be broadcast on Tues/Wed in Chicago - though it's probably not that big a deal). Not sure if that schedule is fully updated either, though. I'm really jazzed about a new drama show ("The Queen's Classroom") over on MBC; if it starts up in Chicago soon, be sure to check it out. Anyway, I understand how rough the going was for Chicago fans when KBS vanished from the airwaves - KBS's tough new attitude really set the Korean Wave back years when they started pulling their broadcasts off the air in the United States. Maybe they recently got themselves new management back in Seoul, who figured out that grubbing for the last dollar doesn't matter much if your viewership falls off 90% ...
