Has anyone been following this 16 ep drama on 24.5? It's now on ep 9 or 10.
From Dramafever: "An extraordinarily beautiful and well-written drama about a doctor trying to make amends with a single mother and her little girl who was accidentally infected by HIV." Accidentally infected, specifically, by the doctor's recently-deceased fiancee.
The 1st episode was exquisite and took me by surprise. Some have described it as the best contemporary kdrama--ever, and I agree it's my favorite to date. If I knew someone graduating from medical school, I'd buy this as a gift, so conversant is "Thank You" in the interior life of an E/R doctor.
The screenwriter's credits include A Love to Kill, Innocent Man, Will It Snow for Xmas, but "Thank You" is in a league of its own. Filmed in theatre-quality, the gorgeous theme song shows up at the right time. Rather than being maudlin or sad, the storyline keeps its balance. Wonderful, affecting performances by its main characters who vividly portray 3 generations and their relationships to one another.
Viewing times on 24.5: Wed & Thur @ 10am, Thur & Fri @ 1:30am [or should I say incorrectly, Wed & Thur @ 1:30am]

bo,
Just played back this a.m.'s ep. Today's episode actually is #11. With 16 in total, only 5 more are left. But I also watch it on DramaFever.

It was on AZN TV around 06 or 7 ,but it is AMAZING .. Jang Hyuk is great and the lead actress who was also in Ruler Of Your Own World really knocks it out of the ball park . One of the best Modern Day K Dramas ..
I forget the actress name but after Ruler and this she vanished off the face of the planet ,which is strange because she was tipped as the next big thing .
Anyone remember "Choco Pie" ? ,this is the drama he took his nom de plume from .

Yes he was , he vanished after Dae Jo Young ...
He was one of our experts in all things Korean and like Truth watched the raw unsubbed versions .

Ah. We did have a Korean upper-level student (female), called herself Choco, in the past. I think I upset her at one point and she left, which made me sad. And paranoid.

MTR,
Did you watch it in the distant past? On AZN? Don't have any access to it.
Mr. Lee/Grandpa/Choco-pie and little Bom/Spring created timeless characters, so no wonder the nom de plume happened. He's in the currently-airing "Hundred Year Inheritance" and though I've scrutinized his scenes there, hoping to glimpse some of the Mr. Lee character, it's almost non-existent.

If anyone happened to tune in to "Thank You" after I posted, they'd have been handed a very different tone from what I described. Considering Korean prejudice towards AIDS and the opportunity to educate, it had to show up sometime and it did around ep 13. I've finished watching it on DramaFever and the last ep took me in a surprising direction than the earlier eps. Looking online for more comments on it, it seems I wasn't the only one thrown off balance and a little confused at the end. Long story short, "Thank You's" writer was inspired by a muse of justice, as well as compassion. This drama definitely breaks out of the mold of predictable kdrama storylines.

Yes i did Nuwildcats ,it actually was on AZN three times ,it had the initial broadcast than was rebroadcast in marathon sessions along with Emperor Of The Sea and Dae Jo Young (condensed version )in the last few weeks of the station .
I thought it was pretty groundbreaking as far as subject matter (Japan had covered similar themes but not China or Korea ) in an Asian Drama though to be fair this was when K dramas were really creative unlike now .Still wondering what happened to the lead actress ?.It seems her work has been sporadic at best after this ,i wonder if this role hurt her career ?.

So you're saying once upon a time there was an AZN that kdramas could be viewed on, yes?
Ostensibly, Thank You's raison d'etre is HIV but it only shows up causally until almost the end. Touching scenes throughout center on broader themes involving all humanity. I hope what you say isn't true, that its heroine-actress suffered backlash because of the subject matter. A case of no good deed goes unpunished?
So utterly beautiful is the script, so tightly-controlled is the arc of the story, it's hard to imagine Korea's viewing public abandoning this actress because HIV was addressed. Ep 15 of 16 is the only time she cries. But in the writer's and actress's hands, it's done consistent with the tempo of the scene. Subtle yet I couldn't help noticing. The only time I've seen someone cry in slow motion, where their eyes imperceptibly begin to fill up with tears then are held there without falling.
Whatever she is doing these days, I wish only good things for this actress who channeled such a beautiful human being.

Still wondering what happened to the lead actress ?.It seems her work has been sporadic at best after this ,i wonder if this role hurt her career ?. Gong Hyo Jin? She's been acting regularly since Thank You. She focused on movies from 2007 until 2010. That's when she returned to dramas and starred in Pasta. She was in Greatest Love in 2011. She returned to movies in 2012. She's got an upcoming drama with So Ji Sub and Seo In Guk for SBS. So you're saying once upon a time there was an AZN that kdramas could be viewed on, yes? Yes, AZN was a cable network that aired Asian programming, mostly K-Dramas.

Thank You wrapped up on 24.5 today. When I have a chance I want to look at the official reviews and awards, plus what the main actors have since done. Bom/Spring is now about 15 and I saw recently is appearing in a kdrama. With your info I'm going to look into viewing Hyo Jin's body of work. But like "Mr. Lee's" performance in Hundred Year Inheritance, any sign or lack of the actor's anima may be disappointing.
