Huh? Didn't you say that the armor in Myeongryang was more accurate?
(I guess Koreans liked it then. Did you? I'm aware it wasn't 100% accurate to history but I liked it myself-there was no naval boarding and the officer who fled from Chilchonryang, while he did runaway, didn't start an arson and die like he did)

The review in Variety gave it a so so review , the reviewer did admit he knew nothing about Korean history, so much of the film was lost to him .He did say those with some understanding of K history would probably enjoy it, much more so than himself .

Please do let us know what you think of The Fortress when you see it. Just watched this movie today and I give this a 8.5 out of 10 It has its flaws, but costumes are mostly accurate and the story does not deviate from real history too much except for few instances. I was able to see why the reviews aren't that good on American movie critic pages. It's a traditional historical, so it could get a little boring for people who aren't into Korean history.

I watched it last week on a streaming site, minus subtitles. I liked it, and i am hoping a subtitled BLU/DVD comes out soon,or Netflix pick it up as i will watch it again.

Thanks, truth. That's good to hear. I'll keep my eyes open for it; unfortunately it seems to have vanished from our local theaters already. I know the Golf Mill shopping center theater was running it but that must have been for only one week.
Would really like to see one of these things in a theater sometime.

Netflix has been collecting more recent Korean historical films lately, so probably.
The Throne, one of the most latest retelligns of the Crown Prince Sado tale, is on it, which I didn't expect. Was thinking about showing it to the family, then decided against due to the topic matter.

I know the Golf Mill shopping center theater was running it but that must have been for only one week. Just to add more, it has the most accurate Joseon soldier uniform I've seen in a historical. The depiction of Joseon musket unit was fantastic. The downside is they made it seem like Joseon completely replaced their arrows with muskets as arrows are only used by the generals for some reason. There are other few historical flaws, which I won't mention as I don't want to spoil the movie.

I read somewhere that the leader of the Manchu invasions praised the Joseon gunmanship.
The trailer, if I recall correctly, even had the chest plate like armor for the infantry.
