MOE Ep.17
Jangil asks Sunwoo what his little phone trick was about. Just a warning, don’t stab me in the back again, laughs Sunwoo. You’re a loose cannon, says Jangil. “You knew that about me when I was rescuing you all the time.” Ouch.
President Jin tortures Mr Lee—I’ll say you did it and then blackmailed me into helping your son afterward. But PJ is shocked when, being called in by Joonho on the fraud case, he’s suddenly accused of the murder and faced with Mr Lee’s testimony about what PJ actually did. The two accuse each other of the murder, each giving half-true versions of the real story.
After this experience, PJ tells Sec Cha to back off on trying to turn the mine fraud situation around, “just do a quick cover-up” of previous activities. But Sunwoo, Taejoo and Sec Koon are baiting a trap for PJ, a mining deal that will be just too tempting for his greedy self to ignore.
Taejoo wants Sunwoo to “visit his mother” to get his thinking straight on revenge. Again, Sunwoo demands to know if Taejoo is his father. For her part, Jiwon wants him to stop because she fears for his soul. He accuses her of weakness. “But I know I’d be even more evil than you if I tried to take revenge,” she says. So she won’t.
Meanwhile, Soomi (a) calls Jangil about the missing paintings, and (b) has a fight with Yoonjoo at the exhibition. Sunwoo steps in, threatens her physically and says he’ll reveal the truth of the paintings if she won’t cooperate. He accuses her and her father of being “monsters,” and she admits she was enjoying her own power in the whole situation.
Mrs PJ identifies Jangil to the press. Sunwoo then says they had a pact to restage the scene, switching the protagonist roles, on top of a tall building in Seoul. They invite reporters for the photo session.
Sunwoo arranges for PJ to meet with Mr Choi, and for Mr Lee to be in the next room and overhear that meeting. Choi admits all to PJ, including his blackmail attempts. Mr Lee confesses to Sunwoo what he saw at PJ’s estate long ago, but says Choi is lying. Sunwoo records both meetings. He sends the Lee confession to the newspapers, who publish the question of PJ being a murderer. He sends a videotape of the Choi/PJ meeting to Mr Lee and Jangil. Dad and Jangil fight. Dad says, okay, I’ll off myself. “Yeah, why don’t you do that?” says Jangil. Dad is crushed.
Jiwon, practically kidnapped off the street by Sec Cha, meets with PJ. He tries to bribe her into stopping Sunwoo by giving back her father’s company. She is cold and uncooperative. When he insults her family, she throws a glass of water in his face, saying, “You’d better not talk down to me about my family or my man, Jin No-shik-ssi." [Whoosh. She’s a pistol.]
Jiwon and Sunwoo talk about what he wants and how he feels. Then she has an internal monologue. [Why? I dunno.] She hopes he gets everything he wants, because she loves him, but wonders if he'll be happy then. They both look earnest. Jiwon, alone, visits the incident paintings show and talks with Mrs PJ, who recognizes her as from David Kim’s company. Asked why she’s not at the photoshoot (taking place that day), Jiwon says it hurts too much. Why? “Ask Soomi,” she replies.
At the shoot, with reporters looking on, Soomi directs the boys and takes photos. Jangil is nervous and annoyed, having been forced to come by the publicity. Sunwoo kneels behind Jangil and cries out, "I killed your father. Don't go to the police.” Then he takes a swing at Jangil with a club. "STOP!' shrieks Soomi, "I have to take a photo here!" Immediately after, Yoonjoo stops the shoot, as too many people are trying to get onto the roof—it’s unsafe. Geumjool quickly herds everyone out.
Alone on the roof with his enemy, Sunwoo locks the door, repeats Jangil's dialogue ("Now where were we? Oh, yeah...") and strikes him smartly in the back three times, right across the kidneys. Then again, even harder. He grabs Jangil by the scruff of the neck and rush-steps him across the roof, pushing him so he's hanging over the edge backwards. "What's next, huh? What's next? You know what's next, right?" Meanwhile, Sunwoo, Geumjool and Yoonjoo are banging on the locked door, trying to get out there. "You have to go blind and then come to me. Will I push you or will you jump?"
Jangil whimpers a bit. He says, "Sunwoo, I should have hit you harder." Sunwoo pushes Jangil over the edge, far, far over, Jangil laughing a bit and Sunwoo looking like he swallowed razors.
