MOE Ep.12
Again, playing out the situations rather than going strictly chronologically.
The “photos” are photorealistic paintings; Soomi sends one out by mail. After Pres. Jin drops his “Kim was alive” bomb on Jangil, the poor boy won’t eat and can’t sleep, worrying Dad Lee. Dad continues to push Soomi on Jangil, which upsets his son further. Jangil gets Soomi's package but thinks it’s chocolates and hands it over to one of his assistants without opening it.
Sunwoo again asks Jangil for help. So Jangil gets his law-school buddy, Prosecutor Shin Jungmin, to pretend-investigate. But the guy, impressed with Sunwoo’s vitæ, tries to get the file from Jangil, who then distracts him with a top-level case.
Sec. Koon manages to meet Joonho and hand over a mysterious report to him. When Jangil asks what’s so interesting there, Joonho says he’ll tell him later. PJ has his own plan for Joonho; he asks Yoonjoo to date him to keep him in line. Not only is she not insulted, she’s happy to help the company out and demands to be paid for her services; PJ laughingly agrees.
Geumjool takes Sunwoo to Soomi’s gallery. Sunwoo pretends he’s still blind, to Geumjool’s evident delight, and asks her about the bridge/Jangil painting. Then he slides his white cane together, focuses his eyes, and says, “You look pretty.” Soomi turns around and kicks poor Geumjool in the shin. Later, Sunwoo tells Soomi and Mr Choi that he named them as witnesses in the new police report. Choi, upset (“I have a secret identity now, don’t ruin that!”), tells Sunwoo to let it go.
Jiwon finds out she’s been hired by David Kim’s company, Loyal Tree, by noticing a large deposit into her savings account. Sec. Koon loves her, but Sunwoo naturally acts like a complete virus and sucks all the joy out of the room. He humiliates her by insisting on buying her an expensive outfit for the founding party as a company investment. She asks about his relationship with Jangil and PJ, and is shocked to hear that Jangil and Sunwoo were close. Late one night, Jiwon espies Sunwoo gazing at a book of poetry. He recites a love poem in his head, but not to her, because he’s a fool, and the next day reads it into a tape for the blind.
At his party, David is Mr Personality. Mrs PJ spends the evening trying to set up Yoonjoo with eligible men. David and PJ talk about investments. PJ even talks with Jiwon but doesn’t appear to know her from Adam (remember he destroyed her dad). She is remarkably cool and collected speaking with him.
Soomi and Geumjool goof around with Sunwoo. Jangil arrives, Soomi wanders off and Geumjool trails after her. Sunwoo and Jangil chat until Jiwon arrives, wearing her new dress and looking fine. Jangil is surprised to learn she works for Sunwoo. Sec. Koon then takes Sunwoo away, and Jiwon asks why Jangil pretended not to know Sunwoo when he was blind. “Out of concern for a blind guy's feelings about loving the same girl as his best friend.”
Geumjool and Soomi both recognize Sunwoo’s rehab center girlfriend and ask Sunwoo how he found her again. He claims he met a lot of volunteers and liked a lot of girls then, she was nothing special. Unseen, Jiwon [brokenhearted?] listens to this; in fact, she'd said something similar to Jangil earlier.
PJ suddenly sees Taejoo leave the party through a fire door and chases him, but can’t catch up. He asks Sec. Koon if they invited Moon Taejoo. Koon says, “He wasn’t on the list.” [Of course he wasn’t—he owns the place]. Then PJ, and everyone else, is shocked when Jangil grabs Sunwoo and punches him out. This is because Sunwoo has casually accused Dad Lee of colluding with PJ in murdering Mr Kim, in exchange for a law school scholarship.
Jangil returns to his office to find a note. “It’s not chocolate, it’s art, and it looks like you.” Jangil opens the package and is shocked to see his face behind Sunwoo just before he hit him, with the driftwood just out of the picture frame. Next morning at Soomi’s studio, she has received an unexpected visit from Dad Lee, who asks what her parents do. She is saved from answering by the arrival of Jangil, who looks like a guy who's been punched too many times. Dad, thrilled, leaves them.
Why did she send such a picture? She apologizes; maybe she should have shown it to the other party (Sunwoo). He calls her a leech, so she {you know where this is going, right?} wanders over to a curtained wall and pulls aside a vertical blind. A little gallery of about a dozen paintings of the crime scene appears. “I was there that day.” [Again. Obviously.] Then we see Soomi’s point of view that day and find out she’s been obsessively painting the things she saw over and over since then.
Jangil asks, why not tell/show Sunwoo. “Oh, the coma, the blindness, you know.” And why doesn’t she show him now? “Who knows? He may already know. If you insist, I can send them to him.” Jangil looks ill, “You want me that much?” She literally tells him to shut the f**k up. They fight and she tells him she felt sorry for him having to backstab a close friend. They continue to fight and accuse each other of insanity. She says if they reopen the investigation, she’s going to tell Sunwoo that she was a witness and show him the paintings.
Jangil shouts, “Do it!” and stalks out. She says, “You said that you will regret it, right?” (referring to an earlier conversation). “Yes. You will regret it.”

I guess I have to "let go" of the fact that these synopses are hard to cut down. There's so much going on, I'm doing my best so I'll stop worrying about it LOL. If I cut something that makes it hard to understand, please do ask me to clarify.
Seems to be a lot of focus in the early part of this episode on people putting food into their mouths with their fingers. Soomi with the cheese. David and Jangil with the bread & oil. Kind of creepy.
Yoonjoo is a funny character. She and PJ have a nice relationship, it redeems him and tars her at the same time. I like her, I like her mother, but they “ain’t right in the head” for all that.
Do you think "Loyal Tree" is a pun on "loyalty"? I think it is.
And, um, there’s no statute of limitations on suicide, but there IS one on murder? What the eff?
