Big starts out really promising. There were lots of funny moments. It begins dragging at the halfway mark and doesn't recover. It's like they ran out of story and didn't know what to do next. The ending was awful. They went the offscreen route to resolve several issues and left viewers with a bad taste in their mouth. It's a shame because, despite its flaws, Big could have been salvaged with a decent ending.
They made a mistake by leaving Kyung Joon in Yoon Jae's body up until the end. They should have swapped them back earlier. They cheapen the final scene by not showing viewers Kyung Joon. If that's who Da Ran chose and that's the love story they wanted to tell, put them both on screen together. Not as Kyung Jae, but Kyung Joon.
I would have liked to have seen some interaction between the brothers. We know Yoon Jae was looking for Kyung Joon. He spent most of the drama as Kyung Jae. Why not give viewers one scene with them back in their own bodies? Plus, Kyung Joon accepting his new family. Family and surrogacy were important issues but got tossed aside for the love story. One final scene with Da Ran and Yoon Jae would have been nice. She could have given the ring back and said goodbye. I found it odd that we get a scene between Ma Ri and Choong Shik but nothing about Yoon Jae.
I thought Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung had good chemistry. The characters, for the most part, were likable. The OST was good. It's just a shame about the second half collapse of the drama. Too much time was spent on Da Ran and Kyung Joon. The Hong sisters have done better work in the past. Because of Big, I'm likely to take a pass on their next project.

that really sums it up perfectly, what a disappointment.... I thought the story was going to be all about what happens after they switch back to their own bodies and that was not the case-

I feel cheated, they took the easy way out, sigh. It’s like I asked for food and was given cotton candy.
I can’t believe the swap that everyone (well me) took place off-screen! I wanted to see the fall-out and see KKJ and DR find their way back together. So I really hate the time-jump which I also hated in Best Love. It would have been more memorable that way!
I would have loved to see YJ and KKJ get aquianted with each other. I would have loved to see his family make amends to him. I would have loved to see Daran pursue KKJ and get him to remember her. I know he remembered her a little by wearing the watch but I would have loved to see the recognition come to his eyes, like a lightbulb lighting up. Or a feeling of deja vu. Or (if they hadn’t mentioned he was attracted to her pre-swap) she would have recreated the dates they had to remind him. Convince him the little things she knows about him like doesn’t like mushrooms. I wanted to see him learn to walk and talk again with her help since he has been in a coma for years.
I always thought YJ was a silent character in KKJ and DR’s relationship. I wanted to see his character have resolution. I wanted to have a scene where DR explains everything that happened (too cruel and impersonal to do this in a letter, he deserves a face-to-face!). I would have loved YJ to tell her if he really loved her or he was having second thoughts. I also wanted to know what he was going to tell her that day at the park before the accident. I wanted to see YJ come to terms with KKJ and DR’s relationship and give them his blessings.
I feel like the Hong Sisters took easy outs where they shouldn’t but surprisingly did the hard way something they should have gone using the easy way. At the end of ep 15, when Daran gave her confession, she should have explained exactly why she felt that way. She should have laid everything on the table. How KKJ’s soul was in YJ that is why he started behaving differently than before. Why the Hong Sisters are content in letting everyone think she is crazy, I will never understand! This could have been great fodder for the rest of episode 16.
Last but not least, I really wanted a recreation of the Shin Daran scene from episode 1 showing Shin’s face and not GY’s. (I still think they took an easy-out. Sorry am not buying the sudden 1-yr growth spurt as Shin has looked the same for the past few years and he was in a coma.) What they should have done is show Shin’s face 1s then the next GY’s, interchanging. Or they could have shown DR and Shin reenacting a scene she did with only GY (not umbrella scene)and showing them side-by side. To show tthat she still loves the soul irrespective of the shell.
Question if KJ never lost his memories when in the 1st swap, why would he loose them now?
I am just itching to rewrite this drama! I’m sad that what started as an ambitious project just whittled away to fluff. Le Sigh.

You make some very valid points, I have watched some dramas that were not that great but never one that left me feeling so disappointed. When they kept having scenes where KKJ and YJ would feel like they were switching back, I took that to mean that they would soon switch back and the story would continue from that point. Saying you felt cheated it very accurate! I agree!

It started really good and the chemistry between Kyung Jung and Da Ran is really good but then Da Ran also look good with Yoon Jae - -especially after Jung went inside his body. The relationship between Yoon Jae and Da Ran is really confusing, no wonder she was left confused about what he really feel for her. The whole thing about Kyung Jung's birth is really messy and creepy at the same time ( Yoon Jae's mother creep me out) It would've been better if they just made Yoon Jae and Kyung Jung half brothers with their parents needing to hide Jung instead of that whole mess that they showed us.
The ending could've salvage this series, as Knov said...they could've showed us Yoon Jae and Da Ran saying good bye to each other and let Kyung Jung and Da Ran meet again with Kyung Jung's body instead of Yoon Jae, I mean what's the point of having them return to their bodies if the one we will see is still Yoon Jae? She fell for Jung so they should've shown them together in the end.
My favorite part of this series is that umbrella scene. I also like the OST that they used, I still have it on my phone up until now.

I pretty much agree with all the posts above, especially Birdy's second post (cuz I felt exactly the same when I was watching).
This drama started out really great, funny and fab chemistry between the two leads and the 2nd lead guy. But wow the latter half was so disappointing, not to mention the ending. It's like the writers lost total interest in their own story half way through. I kept waiting for the younger guy's body to wake up with the main guy's soul and act all mature and fight for his fiancée's affection. It was very frustrating when I kept expecting this to happen again and again and every time it DIDN'T happen.
And this whole thing about her falling in love with the younger guy... how does she know who she loves? She's still looking at her fiancé's face even tho the younger guy's soul is in his body. I know looks shouldn't matter but they do, unfortunately. I'm still not convinced that had they NOT switched bodies would she still have fallen for a high school kid. It's very hard to have a relationship with much younger guy like that with everyone staring and pointing and making fun of you, I would imagine.
