MOE Ep.4:
Jangil stumbles from the scene of his crime and runs away to school. He spends the next few days miserable, drinking, unable to cope, until Jiwon happens to find him lying drunk in the street and tells him to get hold of himself. He is especially miserable after he learns from the chubby friend, Geumjool, that Sunwoo put his life on the line for Jangil's sake.
Then Sunwoo washes up on shore and is taken to the ICU. Soomi (who has been searching for him) and her father advocate for him at the hospital. Even though Choi wants to accuse Mr. Lee, Soomi won't let him.
Mr Lee pieces together that Jangil did something desperate. With one hand, he keeps President Jin away from both boys, and with the other, he tries to keep Jangil from falling apart in Seoul. Lee assures PJ that Sunwoo will die. At the hospital, Mr. Lee scolds an unconscious Sunwoo for forcing Jangil to commit a crime [!!]. As he leaves (but apparently does not notice), Sunwoo starts to move and remember things that happened with Jangil.
However, it seems many years pass, as Sunwoo is seen in a hospital bed as an adult man. He dreams of his father, Mr. Kim, who "sends him back" to the waking world. When Sunwoo wakes, the doctor for some reason pretends that only a short time has passed. (Must be some kind of protocol with coma patients.)
Meanwhile, PJ has become successful and famous in the resort industry. He has a good father/daughter relationship with his stepdaughter, Yoonjo, but a little stickiness between him and his wife. PJ is upset, to say the least, when he hears that Moon Taejoo (his rival) is scoring in international dealmaking. He figures Taejoo, keeping out of sight in Indonesia, is preparing for "something big." Apparently this is true, but Taejoo tells his assistant he's going to drop everything to search for his (own) son.
So Soomi, Mr. Choi, Geumjool and Mr. Lee all learn that Sunwoo has finally come round. Jangil gets the happy news from Geumjool, who wants him to visit Sunwoo, and PJ finds out from Mr. Lee. But Sunwoo doesn't recognize anyone and has frequent convulsions, as witnessed by PJ when he slinks into the hospital. Even after Sunwoo figures out who Soomi is, he believes his father is still alive and will come to see him.
When Sunwoo comes to his senses, he is blind. (His corneas had separated from the force of Jangil's blow.) Screaming in frustration in the hospital hallway, he passes by Jangil. Thinking he's a doctor, Sunwoo grabs Jangil and demands an ophthalmologist.
Especially creepy/resounding stuff: Jangil practicing surprise at learning of Sunwoo's murder, then receiving Sunwoo's handmade gift, sent earlier but misdelivered. Then Jangil justifying himself to Sunwoo in the night, as if his need to succeed is a perfectly reasonable excuse for attempted friend-i-cide.
So apparently Taejoo also has some reason to believe that Sunwoo may be his son. If so, why'd he wait all this time to find him? And that means that President Jin had some basis for his paranoid ravings about his fiancee (but not for causing her downfall--that was just infantile).
Funny how squirrelly poor Uhm Tae-woong appears when lying in a hospital bed. LOL...
