I'm wondering if you mean that goopy stuff that comes in jars. That commercial is shown almost every night and I can't think of any commercial seen for any kind of powder.
If you do mean the jars, I'm not sure, but it looks to me like plum sauce used for Asian cooking. Plum sauce is used in Chinese food for spreading on moo-shu pancakes or serving w/ fried or steamed dumplings. I think it's added to other dishes as well. In extract form, it's very dark looking---almost black. It could easily be that there are Korean dishes that use plum sauce too. Whatever it is, though, it does seem to come in different varieties. There are several rows of Korean words on the screen in one shot and next to one of them appears the English word (Yam). I have no idea why this one is translated or what the others could be. So maybe it's not plum sauce, but I really have no idea what it could if it's not that. Maybe it's some kind of Korean jam.

I think it's one of those herbal tonics characters are often taking on these shows. Note the deer with antlers on the jar. Deer antlers seem to be held in great esteem; there's that commercial where they show deer being coralled and their antlers harvested. There also used to be a commercial for a shop on Lawrence just east of Pulaski where they evidently sell slices of deer antler. The shop even has a neon deer head sign in the window.

Soju is on to it. It's health food. The different 'flavors' (on the screen where it says 'yam') include 'young antler', 'breeding antler', 'Royal Jelly' (bee larvae food), honey, and vitamin. Then on the next screen it tells you the stuff that it's good for: 'weak constitution', 'loss(?) of manhood', curing 'male fatigue' and 'increasing vital power'.

Humble Student! Welcome back to the forum! I've been wondering where you went to...glad to count you still among the living...I've really missed all the translations you used to provide. Very interesting about the deer antler jam. I have to wonder if the antlers are ones found around the forest after falling off the deer (I know antlers break off over time and regrow), or if the poor deer gives up its life for the medicinal properties of its headgear. So it supposedly aids in the cure of "male fatigue" eh? Hmmm. I'm getting an idea of what to get my husband for the holidays! ;D (I'm kidding!) Nice to see you back, Humble Student! Hope to see you around more often. Speaking of posters MIA, does anyone know what's happened to Yobo? He used to post just about every day, but I haven't seen anything from him in weeks. Jade
