Ep.67 – THIS MAY BE IT FOR THIS WEEK (see note below)
Lord Jang reels in shock from the sentence and refuses to read it, so San does. Three conspirators will be exiled to one place and the mastermind Hong to another. All the ministers—Noron, Soron & Abednego—petition to kill the traitors. San reveals Hong’s last-minute change of mind, which is, of course, not good enough, so protests are made night and day. San visits Tebi Mamah (who’s totally caught off guard) and tells her if she really wants to help him, she’ll stop the Norons from protesting and butt out of government from then on. He has “Yeong-jo’s last will…don’t force me to use it against you.” Queen Hyeoui reveals to Lady Song that San told her of D-S’s report and asked her permission to reduce the sentence.
Hong and the others are transferred out to exile early because of the protests. Hong is paraded in the streets and booed. Rocks are thrown.
At Dowahseo, Mr Lee drags Mr Tak out to see the new crop of damos. Although Lee is rather crude and Tak avows taking the high road, they both fall all over themselves, insulting both the current damos and the new ones.
There is a famine. People are taking out illegal loans from loansharks, who take their land and leave the people in debt, forcing them to be sold as slaves to Qing, and there is an elaborate system set up to effect this. It seems the sharks have police protection.
San’s mother scolds him for never visiting the new concubine. She refuses to negotiate on the Song issue and insists he has to visit the new one “tonight.”
Meanwhile, Chobi has trouble with the new concubine’s lady, who insults Song’s lowly damo-ness (Song is level 5 and Sant's Third Girl is level 1). Song drags Chobi over to Third Girl's place to apologize, and she is condescended to in the most genteel manner. Then Dowager Hye shows up and talks down to Song some more. D-Hye tells Third Girl that San will be there tonight so be ready, and they go inside. Song, snubbed, goes home with an insulted (but apologetic) Chobi.
To Song’s surprise, though, San visits her instead. Chobi simpers and gloats. San tells Song about having to replace Hong and how he can’t bring himself to do it. She observes that even though San cannot forgive Hong’s crime, he can forgive him [in his heart, I guess].
Hong finally has his wish of plenty of time to fish, alone. D-S visits and then reports to San (who secretly sent him) that Hong is in poor health. He brings a gift from Hong--an unfinished work on how to reorganize the military which, for some reason, has blood all over it. Apparently in connection with this, Officers Suh and Kang are upset to learn the Imperial Guard is being disbanded until D-S says a new guard unit is being formed and everyone will go there.
San takes DS+2 and visits the Confucian academy, where he helps a young scholar escape over the wall, then reviews an anonymous submission for questions he asked of the academy and recognizes the handwriting of an anonymous scholar’s letter he received recently about the slavery rings in the area. He makes DS+2 investigate, and then waits in a shed (against DS+2’s better judgment) while they go to confront the slavers. However, San gets entangled with the wall-jumper and they are locked into a warehouse. The man tells San he’s an idiot, searches the warehouse and makes a bomb with some flour. Then he pulls a periscope out of his pocket [or maybe he was just happy to see him], getting San all excited because he’s never seen such a thing. Wall-jumper’s opinion of San’s brainpower is low, but they do escape together. [San is acting rather stupid here]
Meanwhile, D-S returns, finds San gone and panics. Then he hears the explosion, as do Suh and Kang and, more importantly, the slavers.
San asks the wall-jumper's name, and gets lip in return and a demand to know who HE is. The man then says he’ll guess and manhandles San’s face to get an idea of his life circumstances. “Privileged but touched with woe.” He learns when San was born and says he has the destiny to rule heaven and earth, but his clothes aren’t good enough to be “the Chancellor of our country.” “That leaves the king.” San tries to look nonchalant and fails. “Well, I’ve never been wrong before” says the guy and laughs, “that means you’re the king and I’m in big trouble.” San pauses and says, “Yeah, I think you’re in big trouble, too, because like you said, I’m the king.” Then they laugh heartily.

So MacGiver! lol... I wish they'd spend a leeeetle more time showing us goings on at the lady's court! I would love to see D-Hye have a cow again over San not visiting his Third Girl... Har...
I am only posting this one for the weekend of 2/11 & 12. I may get another posted this week, I have it started, and will either do one or two next weekend. Valentine's Day activities, you know...
