Hello!
I'm new here. I was wondering if Drama City is still being airred? Does anyone know where I can go to see the list of titles there are to the series? How many? Also where I could get more? If anyone would like to trade with me for the titles?
I have about 38 of them now.
Sorry for so many questions and thank you for your help!

Hi angelblossom, Drama City airs on Friday night at 11:00, with a rerun on Sunday afternoon at 2:00. I do not know anything about the titles I do not tape Drama City. I just watch it if I am home and awake when it is on. Some of the programs are good and some are not so good.

It's always nice to see more Drama City devotees speaking up. It appears that the links you have provided are for viewing the actual episodes online, unfortunately I have a dial up connection and I can't view this material. Fortunately, you happen to live in the vicinity of KBS America, they're in Los Angeles (at least closer than we are in Chicago) and there's a good chance that you'd be able to get some information from them. When I had chance to e-mail the network last year, I was amazed to receive a reply from the COO of the company.
If you happen to get down that way, I would be curious to know if Jerry's Famous Deli still exists, and if so, you should go there if you've never been; they have the best corned beef I have ever had in my entire life. ;D Good luck in your quest. CV

CaptainVideo, the links are actually to the synopsis/character description of the particular Drama City episodes I'm interested in...I posted these particular links because Drama City devotees like yourself might be able to recognize the episode by taking either a look at the episode title (it's there right next to the date on that page) or by taking a look at the little picture they provided, or by taking a look at the cast pictures included on that page.
I've actually contacted KBS America before EOR service began and they did tell me they had a majority of these Drama City episodes, but they couldn't tell me which ones (I had given them a list of the Drama City episode titles in Korean).
It's a pity not finding a fansub group who would sub these Drama City episodes, unless it has a certain popular actor/actress. I was lucky that Triple Lei here in SoCal had once provided rips for the 9-10 e-subbed Drama City episodes that aired on KBS-LA (known for its edits) on-line, and had help from someone who taped from KBS World to help transcript the subs for 2 other Drama City episodes to time with the raw HDTV rips I had. These were the only instances that I could do for others to take notice of what Drama City and Best Theatre (MBC's equivalent to KBS' Drama City; Best Theatre has actually been around longer than KBS' Drama City) are. Right now a fansub group are working on the Best Theatre 4-episoder "Taerung's National Village" [this was a special Best Theatre, thus 4 episodes, otherwise, Best Theatre are also 1-episoders like Drama City] (a nominee at the 1st Seoul Drama Awards)

Hey creidesca,
I really doubt I'll be of much help to you, as I don't have any of this stuff archived, but I'll get over to the library, to use their computers, and see if anything looks familiar. I'm kind of guessing that Gpaul will not have permanent copies of the shows since the reception and imprecise starting times will not guarantee clear/complete copies. Talk to ya later.

You are right CaptainVideo I have very few copies of Drama City. Most were taped in the days of poor reception or else I taped over them. My favorite was called "In a Fog" and I do have that one but it is a very bad copy. I think it is time to buy some new tapes and make good copies of the episodes I like.

I have a feeling that KBS America only has Drama City episodes that aired in Korea from late 2004/early 2005 till the most recent one airing on KBS World, so I gave them a list of the Drama City titles (in Korean) of those epis that aired mid 2004 to recent (a very long list over of 100+ titles, yikes!)
I don't have my Drama City RAWS archived (it's all over the place as I had burned the avis off onto data cds, and it wasn't till last year data DVDs), but I do know my list of e-subbed epis, as they aren't that many:
1. My Older Brother [my first e-subbed Drama City episode]
2. Naked Truth
3. Deja Vu
4. Dr. Love
5. Cafe Eve
6. Blue Skies of Jeju Island
7. One Day
8. The Disco Queen
9. I Love H, He, Li...
10. A Distorted Fairytale
11. Booyong of Mt. Kyeryong
Would "In a Fog" be the one starring 1 of the Goong/Palace actors, Kim Jung Hoon? If so, I believe you can find that available online (HDTV rip) w/ english soft subs.

You missed out on some really good Drama City episodes in 2004, hope you get a chance to get ahold of them in the future. KBS-LA must have chosen the good ones to air during the time when there were problems with subbing the daily drama 'My Precious Child' because I was hooked with 'My Older Brother' from the writer of Sangdoo! Let's Go to School & Sorry I Love You [this particular Drama City was done b/w those 2 mentioned dramas from the writer]. You can actually catch the last 50min of this Drama City, e-subbed on youtube (the person who provided this must have split the episode into 5 parts, but only placed parts 2-5 on youtube):
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQV-VapNgXQ
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c_OW6yFw1s
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbGLl4k54R8
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NiTbA6z-vw
And here's a Drama City episode from 2004, starring Lee Jun Ki (e-subbed): www.crunchyroll.com/showmedia?id=61137
Gopo Inn...was it the one where the episode started out at a mortuary? I got to see that unsubbed, and rather liked it (but I recall some people on this board had some difficulty understanding it?) I can still remember how surprised I was to find out that it wasn't the young guy who left the girl the umbrella, but the young daughter of the man [turns out all 3 were at the mortuary if one pays careful attention to the scenery]

Gee, it's been about a year and a half since I viewed Gopo Inn, but the things I remember are that a young girl became pregnant by a teacher (don't remember if he was current or formerly) and she was in love with some other young man from the village but spends a night on the beach lamenting, pleasuring herself and finally taking a final walk into the sea.......... I didn't know what Drama City was and I thought I had stumbled upon the final episode of a series; took me a couple of weeks to figure out that this was a regularly occurring show (remember, we don't have the benefit of a posted schedule for this station so you just have to play cryptographer and find the patterns.)
So, what is KBS-LA like? We get some of your news stories on our nightly local news (your Korean community does much more cultural stuff than Chicago, but hey....). Our station is not a true KBS affiliate, but virtually all of the programming, save for locally produced content, originates from KBS World. Do you get the KBS World News Today w/Nemo Kim? They've been trimming it down from 15 to 10 minutes of the original broadcast, but at least they're showing it almost everyday (almost at the same time each day, within about 20 minutes) and they've stopped clipping off her closing salutation.
Have you made it to Jerry's Famous Deli?? ;D

aha...I was actually referring to this particular Drama City episode discussed here: deiner.proboards48.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=dramacity&thread=1131327764&page=1
KBS-LA...I hardly touch the channel, thanks to the severe edits to the programs. The only thing I'm taping off of the station is Here Comes Ajumma, Dae Joyoung, and Happy Woman.
I wish I can afford to obtain digital cable or satellite for KBS America and/or KBS World
And I've actually not set foot into LA except for I believe 3 occasions since I live in Orange County...my city, home to the Crystal Cathedral (I believe that's one of it's most famous landmarks)...the Crystal Cathedral actually popped up in a Jeopardy question many years ago.

looks like you can purchase Drama City episodes on DVD by giving KBS America a call at 213-739-1111. Might want to ask to speak to an Eddie Sohn, as he likely is the one who speaks English (when I called I originally, I got the Korean 'hello' but the person was able to direct me to Eddie when I asked for Eddie, as he sent me an email to contact him by phone). The price for each episode, however, is $10 (since it's not on the EOR list). For my first order, I've purchased the following titles:
Drama City - The Body in the Charnel House
Drama City - Scrubber No.3
Drama City - Oh, Sara
Drama City - Love of a Spider Woman
Drama City - Shocking Love
I've also asked him to include a list of Drama City titles KBS America has available in my shipment. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. To think I could have purchased the entire set for Invisible Man Choi Jang Soo (20 episodes?) for roughly the same price.

How much are the EOR listed eps? I loved Scrubber No. 3, and I know I saw Love of a Spider Woman, but the plot escapes me.... Was that the one when the husband and wife became a couple after bumping into each other after each was cheated on by their own partners? After marriage they grow to despise each other and he plots to have her killed and she ruins his presentation at work, but after she tells him where the backup copy of the presentation is and he ends up deflecting the assasination on the wife at an amusement park? Yeah, let us know how this works out. Thanks for the information.

There are currently no Drama City episodes on EOR. To order Drama City episodes, you have to call KBS America to make your order. From what Eddie wrote in his email, price of episodes NOT on EOR is $10/epi.
Love of a Spiderwoman...if I'm not wrong, this Drama City episode stars Lee Sun Gyeon, and in the final scene of the episode, he and this woman struggle and a closet falls on them, killing them both?
I believe the one you are referring to is Shocking Love (or Shocking Marriage)
Anyways, I've made my order, can't wait to have them arrive in the mail.
I hope when I get the list of available Drama City episodes in my shipment, they'll have Gwija's Story, as that is another Drama City I'd really like to see.
If anyone is interested, these are the Drama City titles I wrote down from the KBS World schedules posted at the KBS website (it only goes far back as mid-Feb 2006 KBS World airings I believe).
Memories
Miss Flower
Shocking Marriage
Scrubber No.3

Our station is not a true KBS affiliate, but virtually all of the programming, save for locally produced content, originates from KBS World. Do you get the KBS World News Today w/Nemo Kim? They've been trimming it down from 15 to 10 minutes of the original broadcast, but at least they're showing it almost everyday (almost at the same time each day, within about 20 minutes) and they've stopped clipping off her closing salutation.
Have you made it to Jerry's Famous Deli?? ;D

looks like you can purchase Drama City episodes on DVD by giving KBS America a call at 213-739-1111.
