Does anybody think that Sang-min might want Ja-young back? From the episode in the bookstore, did you see the way Sang-min was looking at Ja-young?! It looked as if he missed her and what they could have been if they never broke up. But I think that Sang-min and Ja-young would definitely not get together ever again. Ja-young would never agree to it. Besides Sang-min is on good terms with Min-joo now.

It's as if he can feel magnanimous and benevolent (as if he had any right) towards the woman who upset his marriage (as if he wasn't totally to blame), rather than wanting her back in any way. After all, he's encouraging her to make up with Young-joon.
The guy's totally blissed out on the whole daddy thing ("why can't everyone be as happy as I am at this moment?") and is totally oblivious to any pain he might be causing Ja-young at the moment. After all, he should be feeling shame that he forced her to have an abortion (well, he thinks he did), keeping her from having this wonderful new parent glow too.
Can you tell that I'm not letting up on this guy yet? IMO he still deserves a sharp kick in the pants.

I thought it was particularly obnoxious and insensitive of Sang-min to gloat about his personal joy as a parent in light of demanding not so long ago that Ja-young abort his own baby with her. Amazing he couldn't see what a creep this made him.
I also agree w/ whoever it was who pointed out how unbelievable it is he'd ask her to tea with him after the way his wife busted his balls the last time he got near JY. The same goes for JY...the last time she was near SM, she got her face slapped in front of her co-workers. After an experience like this, I can't see how either of these 2 would want to get within 500 meters of the other.
And as if it wasn't astonishing enough they'd go to a cafe together after running into each other accidentally, it's even harder to believe they did it a second time just to exchange 2 bags that each took from the other by mistake the day before. This is something that could've been done very quickly, just by meeting in front of the dept. store or JY's office building. In fact, the two didn't have to meet again---SM could've sent his driver over to JY's office to meet her in front and make the exchange.
I confess to getting a little weary of all these unlikely cafe meetings. I know Korea is a much more polite society than the US, but even so, I can hardly believe all these people would go to cafes together, no matter how bad the blood between them, or how little one wants to see the other. The whole going to a cafe with SM was just to bring about the bag switch, which created an awkwardness for both. I can think of other ways the bags could've been switched w/o them going for tea together, which did not ring true...and I don't even see why it was necessary to be there. The payoff wasn't so great as to justify the contrivance, IMO.

Maybe they had them meet so we could be proud of Ja-young when she told him that her life was none of his business now. Even so, I would have much rather seen the scene between Ki-hoon and Na-young which JadeEyes describes in another post. Not only does she meet with Sang-min, she also meets with Min-joo. Yesterday's episode left me fuming when Min-joo ever so innocently says "Maybe I'm butting in where I'm not wanted" Maybe? MAYBE? MAYBE?

Maybe that was the purpose of those scenes. But why go to such lengths to make that come about? I can suggest an alternative scene that would accomplish the same thing, w/o having the non-credible contrivance of having Ja-young agree to go for tea or coffee w/ Sang-min, not once, but twice. Here's one idea:
Sang-min is making his purchase at the cash register when Ja-young comes up to make her purchase at the same time. They see each other and there's an awkward, uncomfortable few seconds. They acknowledge each other but Ja-young is neither rude nor friendly, and does not encourage chat. Sang-min asks how she is and she says fine, and says she's back at work again, when he asks her. He tells her he's buying baby books because they just adopted a baby -- a little girl. The cashier tells her how much she owes for the baby socks, and as she takes money out of her wallet, Sang-min notices the socks. As JY pays for her purchase, SM asks her why she's buying baby socks. When she doesn't answer immediately, he asks if they're a gift. Just then, his cell phone rings and JY is saved from answering by its interruption. It's MJ calling to ask if SM can pick up the baby formula on his way home. He says yes and hangs up. JY says she has to get back to work anyway, and nods a little curtly and heads off.
As she leaves the building, she hears someone call to her, from just behind. It's SM. He comes up to her, a little hesitantly, and asks her if she and YJ might marry afterall. She tells him she and YJ are not seeing each other. SM seems surprised and says the stuff he said in the scene we saw from the second cafe meeting. She tells him the thing about how his life is none of his business now, and we can still feel proud of her. We see that this hurts him some, and he asks her if she still bears him grudges. She says no, none at all. I'm very happy with my life now (dialogue we had in second cafe scene). She says again she must get back to her office and bids him farewell. He looks off after her a moment as she walks away.
No bag switch, which added up to nothing, and we still get the important things: SM seeing the baby socks and asking about them; the tension of the accidental meeting (which makes a lot more sense than either of these two deliberately going to a cafe, twice, together); JY finding out about the adoption; us feeling proud of JY for telling SM that her life is none of his business now and she's very happy w/ her life as it is.
We do away with the scene of MJ questioning SM about buying the socks instead of the books, which really added nothing to the equation accept to see SM squirm a little momentarily. But not enough of a pay-off to justify the unbelievable contrivance of SM and JY sitting down to coffee or tea together, not once but twice. So we do away w/ that too.
They'd have to come up with other material to fill the scenes dropped from the script, but they could do that. Look at all the silly stuff they come up with every ep. for filler. I confess to getting a little bored with the irrelevant scenes between MR and TY, w/ her finding different ways to help him cool off. A couple of them are cute, but they've had so many lately, I'm really tired of them.

Could you believe that?? Is there any limit to this woman's nerve?? Again, why does JY agree to these "command appearances" from people she doesn't want to see and who make her uncomfortable and unhappy? She keeps telling everyone how happy she is with her life right now, but how can she be when she has two or three unpleasant run-ins every day with people from her past who bring pain to her? And some of these run-ins are meetings she goes to on command. I'm starting to feel about her the way I was getting to feel about YJ when he kept letting Hyun-ji manipulate him constantly. I felt a loss of respect for him. Being a nice guy is a good thing for the most part. But being a spineless doormat and sap is nothing to respect. When I lose respect for someone, I may still pity them, but I don't like him or her anywhere as much as I did before.
Next time MJ calls JY, I'd like to hear her say, "Look. You and I have nothing to say to one another, and I'm not interested in anything you have to say. Please stop calling me." End of conversation, JY hangs up. She also has caller ID. Why does she bother answering when MJ calls? Why not let it go to voicemail, then delete the message later? Eventually, MJ ought to give up (although, knowing the Dragon Lady, it's not impossible she'll show up somewhere JY is to confront her). But give her the ditch then.
I also wanted to slap MJ when she started up w/ that bit about how much SM adores their adopted baby, yada, yada, yada. As if that wasn't bad enough, she started in about how SM can't ever find out about Ji-min, as if JY needs reminding of that. She doesn't want SM to find out any more than MJ wants him to. There's always something with her where she has to blame JY a little bit, and enjoys sticking the knife in every chance she gets. This is why I'd like to see JY cut out seeing and speaking to MJ w/ determination.

Jade I felt that way today, why should she have to explain anything to Min-joo? She's being so rude to poor Young-joon showing true determination to keep him at arm's length and yet to the person who is the root of her unhappiness (along with Sang-min, of course) she seems to always have to explain her actions. At the end of your (long, intricate, but most definitely full of insight) post, JadeEyes, I felt like writing one of Forest Gump's famous lines, "That's all I have to say about that! LOL
