PRINCESS JA MYUNG GO STORY OF SELF DESTRUCTION SBS ,FEB 2009-50 Episodes . PRINCESS JA MYUNG GO /JUNG RYU WON PRINCESS NANG NANG-GUK /PARK MIN YOUNG PRINCE HODONG /JUNG KYUNG HO KING DAE MUSIN /MOON SUNG GEUN This is the rival SBS version to KBS Kingdom . The story is Goguryeo is at war with the Kingdom of Nangnang ,famed for its drums that start beating every time an enemy approaches the small kingdom . Dae Musin sends his son into Nangnak to destroy the drums . Hondong infiltrates and seduces the royal princesses Ja Myung Go and Nang Nang Guk eventually Nang Nang is persuaded by Hodong to destroy the drums which in turn leads the Jealous Ja Myung Go to rat out her younger sister to their father the King of Nangnang .
To late though Goguryeo attacks Nangnak Guk dies in Hodong's arms while both he and Jung Myung Go perish in the fall of Nangnak .
This is the real story that KBS has taken massive liberties with in Kingdom though for all SBS's claims they have the real story Ja Myung Go is a fictional character too created by SBS to spice things up a bit .
maybe the real headache will be that this airs opposite KBS'S Empress Cheun Cho and MBC's Queen Seon Duk starring Lee Yo Won (who has just replaced Sa Yuri from Hong Gil Dong after public outcry at her casting ).
So we will have a network war of the historical women ,though advance word has been that Ja Myung Go is the better of the three dramas .
I do like Kingdom in fact i like it a lot im a sucker for Gogureyo Drama's anyway so it would be great to compare Ja Myung Go with Kingdom ,even though Myung Go is more historically accurate it may not be the better of the two drama's .

I just saw this on recommendation list, heard it the rival program of QSD and that it was supposed to have 50 episodes but got cut down to less than 40 due to low rating. But the sypnosis sounds interesting, is it any good?

I've never watched this and have no intention of doing so.
Ifyou think about it, the source is pretty messed up. People describe the tale of Prince Hodong and Princess Nakrang as a tragic starcrossed lovers tale, but I don't see it that way at all. I see it as a cynical story of emotional manipulation.

Its like a Hong Kong Wuxia drama, way too much flying around in video game armor.
Stick with Kingdom Of The Wind, though fusion and largely fictional, its a pretty solid Sageuk, and is actually the sequel to Jumong .
