I would just like to say a word of praise for Joo-yun (her name, I think), the woman across from Ja-young in her office who has coffee and pep talks w/ her and takes such a friendly interest in Ja-young's life. I know Hyun-ji claimed she was trying to be "the voice of reason" to Ja-young (yeah, right! That's like Martha Stewart offering investment advice to someone!), but the real "VOR" is Joo-yun, if you ask me.
Yesterday, when she seemed astonished at JY's announcement she would return to Grandma Sohn's and try to plead w/ her some more, Joo-yun's stern warning against this plan mirrored my own. She has also in the past attempted to persuade her to follow her own heart and not be so bogged down by outmoded Korean customs and traditions, pointing out it's the 21st century now and adults in present times have the right to determine their own lives--not to be dependent on the wishes of elder kin.
Joo-yun has a good, practical head on her shoulders and her friend's best interest at heart. I do wish Ja-young would start listening to her sage co-worker and follow her advice. But then, if she did, I guess we wouldn't have much of a story.

I am just glad that there is someone for one of the leads to open up to. Usually in these shows the leads have all this angst, and they keep it bottled up, as if they don't have any friends, co-workers, or other family members they can unload to.
I know more characters = bigger budgets (costs), but, as YH shows, it adds a lot to the program.

I love Joo-yun, Ja-young's friend at work! She's so cool! Did you see on the episode that aired today (07/04/03)? Min-joo stormed up into Ja-young's office and slapped Ja-young hard across her face! Joo-yun and the other girl who works with them totally defended Ja-young! The other girl grabbed Min-joo off of Ja-young while Joo-yun was standing in front of Ja-young protecting her (that was so awesome! She's such a great friend) and then Joo-yun even pushed Min-joo too! ;D

Yes she is a good friend to Ja-young, but I don't think she's appreciated for her patience and loyalty. Has Ja-young ever heeded or sought Joo-yun's help or advice? They are only seen together when at work or on breaks or at gatherings with other employees. In fact it seems Ja-young is too miserable and consumed with her situation to have any friends at this point. She doesn't really show any love for Young-joon either, but sees him as someone she needs and can't turn away. Contrast the way she acted with Sang-min in the very early eps with the way she treats Young-joon. She was all constant smiles, and seemed to worship S-M as an idol. She loved him at least as much as Y-J loves her now. She just seems to still be unable to get in touch with her feelings toward anybody, maybe afraid that she may get her heart broken once more if she lets go again.

When she brought Young-joon lunch, Jae-young was smiling and laughing a lot. In my mind, she suddenly turned into Lee Han-na (from "Who's My Love").
